Had my water pump replaced on my Prius. Also had belt replaced and thermostat changed. The thermostat looked pretty hard to do. Including diagnostic, parts and labor was charged 1,500. Guess that is fair considering they have a 36 month warranty on parts and labor. They were very professional and quick. Spoke with the owner and was told if water pump fails, they will fix it because under warranty. When it comes to Prius, they are probably the best shop in town and the people one would want working on one’s car.

I first went to Trent's for a pre-purchase inspection of a used car. The inspection was thorough and they were honest with their opinion of the car. Once I got the car, I asked for a quote for some of the inspection findings and they sent it to me within the day. They didn't pressure me to bring the car in and get the work done, which I appreciated. When I did bring the car in, the work was done quickly and at a lower price than what several other places around Des Moines had quoted.

I found Trent’s Garage, Clive, IA through a Facebook ad completely by chance. I had been searching for someone to repair a brake light issue that I suspected to be in the wiring. I called them to schedule an appointment and was able to get one within a few days. As it turns out, my brake light issue was a relatively easy fix. They also offered me a free check up on my vehicle’s mechanical system, oil, fluids, etc. and a major oil loss issue was discovered. I had not a drop of oil in my car as the oil seal was not working properly and was leaking into my engine. Had this not been discovered my entire engine would have most definitely been ruined. They put together en estimate of the steps it would take to repair the oil leak issue and clean up and replace all the oil soaked parts. They explained everything in detail so I understood the severity of the leak, and in layman’s terms, the steps needed to complete the repair. Owner, Amy, and Service Manager, Chris, were kind and sensitive with me through the whole process, and I can’t tell you enough how appreciative I was! Anyone who needs vehicle repair for any reason, please give Trent’s Garage a call. I promise you’ll be glad you did. I will trust them for any auto repair I may have from now forward!

Trent's Garage is amazing! Truly above and beyond! I brought my car in for a gearshift issue after seeing great reviews online. I’d been searching for a new mechanic, and I’m so glad I gave them a shot. They diagnosed the issue quickly and quoted a very reasonable price. While checking my car, they also noticed my headlights were in terrible shape. A friend had tried to replace them years ago and basically broke them. I’d been rigging them up ever since… barely legal but at least they worked. I could hardly see at night, but replacing them had always been too expensive. They quoted me around $500, which was very fair, but I told them I’d have to wait. When I came to pick up my car, they told me that one of their mechanics, Andrew, had come in on his own time over the weekend and fixed the headlights for me. I was completely blown away! I’ve never had someone go so far out of their way to help me, especially someone I’d never met before. He didn’t have to do that, but he did… that kindness means so much to me. It’s rare to find these days, I won’t ever forget that. :) I’ve been driving with broken headlights for four years, and last night, for the first time in forever, I could actually see! I thought I had terrible night vision… but it turns out I just needed working headlights! LOL! Andrew, thank you! Truly. And to everyone at Trent’s Garage, you’ve earned a customer for life. I’m telling everyone I know to go here! You all are amazing! THANK YOU!

I highly recommend Trent’s Garage. A dealer gave me a listing and estimates of all the maintenance that should be done to my vehicle so I reached out to Trent’s for an estimate. After comparing, I made an appointment on line with Trent’s and asked them to evaluate what needed to be done on my car. Surprisingly, many of the items the dealer had recommended replacing did not need to be done! What needed to be done was completed thoroughly and timely after my approval. Amy and crew at Trent’s are honest and provide pictures of their findings. They are totally transparent and friendly professionals. Amy is the best. I am so glad my daughter recommended them to me. I am a very satisfied customer and I will rely on them for all the maintenance done on my car from now on.

Start to finish, I had a great experience at Trent’s Garage. Chris explained everything going on with my car very well and the service was so fast. I approved the maintenance on a Wednesday afternoon and the parts arrived that evening. A technician stayed late and also worked early the following morning so I could get my car back that Thursday PM! They also allowed me to use a loaner car I could borrow in the interim for work! Very impressed with all aspects of the experience and will plan to keep coming back to Trent’s for my auto care needs! :)

1st off, I will say they're nice people. But they did me wrong. Initially took my truck in for a misfire that was throwing my truck into limp mode causing the service traction control light and stabiltrak light to come on. I do everything on my truck that I'm comfortable doing. No engine work because I'm no pro. That's why I went to Trent's. I told them exactly what my scanner said, and their scanner showed exactly the same thing. I knew my oil pressure sensor was bad, and informed them I wasn't concerned. If I had no oil pressure the car would tell me via computer. Keep in mind this a 13 Denali with 191k miles, and it pulls a trailer five days a week. I'm just trying to get back on the road here without dropping thousands if possible. Chris informed me that he and his team are absolutely certain that the oil pressure sensor was throwing these codes and causing the car to go into limp mode. I disagreed with him, but agreed to do the work because I took him at his word. Chris told me "it'll put a bandaid on it and get me back on the road."But he can't guarantee how long the car will last. Fast forward two days later I go pick it up, and Amy the owner was in there. She was adamant that my motor was shot. And certain there has been metal in my engine. Then she wasn't certain, "but it will have metal soon." Her words. She was all over the place. Then she quoted me over 10 grand to fix a problem they NEVER even diagnosed. All they did was scan for codes. No compression test. Didn't bother to take a brief look inside the engine. Telling a Person their engine is shot and not even running engine diagnostics is completely asinine. I paid 1200$ just to have my truck tell me what my oil pressure is. Fast forward again. I took my truck to a different shop. They checked the engine thru multiple tests and everything came back fine! What they did find was a sparkplug that had been cross- threaded. They removed the plug and re- threaded the plug hole then replaced the plug. 398$ and I'm back on the road, and the truck is running absolutely perfect. Trent's Garage has liars working there. As well as lazy mechanics who simply just want to scan codes instead looking beyond codes. I'm very sorry to write this review, because I hate leaving a negative review. But it's not right what they did to me.

They are intentionally not transparent with their pricing. They do not itemize parts and labor separately on invoices which makes it impossible to compare prices with other service providers on the same product. They charged twice the amount $485 for an AGM battery plus installation as the dealership was quoting $275 for the same thing. A simple google search reflects that the average battery prices are aligned with the dealership quote so what accounts for the difference in price? Amy refused to provide a breakdown for the parts (battery) and labor even when specifically requested so that the customer could see exactly what they are paying for. That would have helped to build trust with them for future business as a first time customer. There were many excuses, including, “our system doesn’t do that”. The overall experience was fine. The car repairs took more than one day due to getting necessary parts. They were friendly and polite.

Used Trents Garage today for the 1st time Chris is great he was able to explain everything to me they have options of call before any repairs, call If repairs will go above a certain cost or no need to call just repair and I love that. They were so friendly and did not pressure me into anything not needed. I still have lots that needs replacing but Chris explained the order of importance on what needs done they also offer financing if approved which is awesome!! I will for sure be back.

I went to Trent’s prepared for the average mechanic experience but they absolutely blew me away!! They drove me to and from my house free of charge, and they explained in depth what was wrong with my car. They talked to me about the state of my car, and compared it to others of the same kind. And they discussed any future repairs I should consider getting done. They were much cheaper than your average mechanic, and the treatment was indescribably better. They fixed my car based on my schedule, I’d never experienced that before. There’s no better feeling than paying a small business for exceptional service that’s cheaper than the competition. In all honesty the entire experience was an 11/10 and I will be using them for as long as I possibly can. Thank you Trent’s Garage team!

My car's check engine light came on just as I was leaving Des Moines to travel back to my home in New York. My sister-in-law takes her car to Trent's garage and called Amy to see what could be done. Amy had me bring the car right over and they were able to scan the diagnostic panels and determine what was going on very quickly without a long wait! Happily, it is something that will not prevent me from completing my trip back to New York. I appreciate how responsive they were to my problem!
