Alan is a wizard, simply put. I brought in my ailing ride with multiple OBDII codes and he returned it to me running in top-notch shape. No codes, no CEL....no issues whatsoever. He knows more than I could ever hope to understand and will spend the time sharing his wealth of knowledge so that you understand the problem(s) with your car. He may not be able to see you as quickly as you'd like (which is typical for such a great mechanic) as he's already backed up. But if you're patient and respectful he'll return the courtesy. In the mean time you might want to get an OBDII scanner (they're cheap and easy to find and use) so that you can get a better picture of your car's overall health. The more information you can share with Alan (or any mechanic) will save time and money. Good luck. AND THANK YOU ALAN!

My partner introduced me to this guy and I’ve used him ever since. He’s incredibly honest and a pleasure to work with. I haven’t had many things done, which is to his credit! I went to a different place and they told me I needed ~$6000 of work done. I was distraught. I went to him and he explained how that 6k is actually $3k, and that $3k is actually split over then next 1.5years. It doesn’t need to be done all at once, my car just met some milestones that are triggers for some companies to recommend these changes without doing a formal inspection. He also showed me how to change my own air filters. Told me it’s a common thing other places recommend fixing and then up charge you for. Super sweet guy, would definitely recommend him!

Alan is the best and most honest mechanic I have ever encountered, and I have been driving since 1969. I have taken both my Subaru Outback and my Toyota Tacoma there for service. I especially like that he will take the time to explain in detail exactly what he did to fix the car, and I once called him when I was having trouble with my Subaru while driving in Southern California; the advice he gave me over the phone was really good, and it helped me to quickly resolve the issue. Highly recommended.

I cannot say enough good things about Alan and Motor City Automotive. He's is really honest and straightforward and is really there to help. I've never dealt with a mechanic that I've trusted, and I really feel like I can trust Alan with my car and my wallet. He is also unbelievably knowledgeable about all different types of cars and engines and he takes the time to explain the work that he has done and the steps to take to keep the car maintained so it does not wind back up in the shop frequently. I don't usually write reviews, and he certainly didn't ask me to write one, but I felt really compelled and inspired to say something about Alan and recommend him highly.
