Absolutely horrendous place to go, please do not visit this shop. I took my Honda Civic in for smog test with my $30 coupon. The owner insisted that my Honda Civic is a SUV, and charged me $40 for it. It’s a all cash business that tries to scam you.

This lady and her son are really bad in treating their customers. They cheat customers by not fixing the car correctly even after giving a quotation and taking its full payment upfront. Me and my friend don’t recommend this place as we all experienced the same problems with their attitudes.

I just had my timing belt changed for my 2004 Toyo. Sienna because it was the cheapest @$469 including water pump and coolant. I paid a little bit more because I also wanted him to change the 2 drive belts . In comparison I got a quote of $900+ @A1 auto and $1200+ @ Toyo. dealer. I am a professional in the health field, but I have been working on my own cars since high school and usually do all the maintenance and work myself and at this price, I could not pass it up. In the past, I've had nightmares of botched or unnecessary work and overcharging by auto shops. In my 40 yrs of working on cars and dealing with auto service establishments (auto shops and dealerships), I have yet to find an honest one. I find that dealerships are the most dishonest. Example: Several years ago I took my 2002 Honda CRV for a recall service at Walnut Creek Honda. When I picked it up, they told me that my brake pads (front and rear) had less than 20% left and pressured me to have it done(@ $300/axel or $600) that same day. I told them I'd bring it back a different day just to get them off my back. I went home to check the brakes and, lo and behold, the fronts still had 60% and the rear pads about 75% remaining Last year I brought the same car to Fremont Honda for another recall. I had just replaced the front brake pads a month earlier ( rear still ok). When the work was done the guy told me that I needed new brakes!!! Although I felt like calling him a "LIAR", I thanked him for the advice and left. I went to Nippon expecting more dishonesty. Rosie, who is Howard's (the mechanic) mother, was the counter person and, admittedly, she does not have good bedside manners (as they say in my profession). She is abrupt and opinionated and probably got this way arguing with ignorant customers over the years. She said that she will use OEM Toyota parts and evenToyota coolant. She said I have to use Toyota coolant or else I will ruin my cooling system. After arguing with her and neither would give in, she called the Toyo. svc dealer. As I expected, the serve guy highly recommended Toyo. coolant but stopped short of saying that using Prestone would ruin my system. I, myself, use good generic parts when fixing my cars but if Rosie wants to lower her profit margin with OEM, even better. Still not trusting, I got my old parts back to make sure they were actually changed and she showed me the Toyota parts boxes where the new parts came in. Added value: Howard drove me home after dropping my car (about 7-8 mi.) plus I got a free smog test (as stated in the add). In conclusion, If you can get past Rosie's abruptness(some call it "rudeness"}, then you'll get a great deal and good work from Howard. You'll save $400 to $700+. For the 1st time, I may have found a good and honest auto shop.

Good work. Vietnamese lady very gracious since the first time I met her about one year ago. For any serious work thus far I would only trust Nippon. Work done: timing chain, brakes, rotors, calipers, headlight housing replacement.

I had an appointment for SMOG check... pulled in 10 minutes ahead of time and a male [with mask] takes the key and drives the car inside ... no greetings. No hello... which is ok by me. Puts the car on jack and raises it ... by this time I am getting concerned since I have never had to uplift the car for SMOG check ... so paperwork in hand i start walking inside.. and go to him ... he says ... is it in for oil change? I explain the appointment is for SMOG ... then he states I don't do older cars ... Terrible place .. avoid if you can

Very rude and angry lady, charged $90/ hr just to diagnose. For changing timing belt charged $890, normal charge is $500 for changing timing belt. I got stuck since I towed my car there. Please shop around before going there. Vietnamese lady will not let u say any thing and very rude

This is a family owned repair shop that specializes in Japanese car but could fix and repair most cars and offer oil changes with various oils. I will say it's better to come knowledgeable and be prepared to bargain with the lady, but I found this place better than any other big Corp mechanic shops. I had an engine light come on and when I ran the code for the problem I realised I need a new coolant valve. I got the part from toyota but their labor price was redeiciolous so eventually the guy at Nippon replaced it for me for half the price, and got it done the next morning. I know what the price would have been If i didn't came ready with the part, but for me it was a perfect solution.

WORST customer service ever!! Don't make the mistake of ever going here. In a nutshell, the owner is very rude and doesn't answer customer questions or concerns properly. She will try to rip you off and make you spend more than necessary. I found this out when I got a second opinion on her services from another more experienced mechanic who told me that Nippon had probably broken one of my car parts during the repair and were trying to charge me extra to fix their own mistake! I told her that I will report her actions to the bureau before she told me that my car was completely fine when only the day before she was saying that it was too dangerous to drive. I have never had such a horrible experience in my life as this was supposed to be a simple repair done in 1-day max but she ended up keeping my car for 3 days! Be warned to never enter this place.

BEWARE: I had been a pretty regular customer until recently. I brought my car in for an oil change and brake work. I brought my own parts as I was looking for slotted rotors. I was having work done on a Saturday, I checked in with Howard before bringing it to make sure it was OK to leave all day as I had to be in Alameda for another engagement until 4pm and he said it was fine. I get a call from Rosie at 12 telling me I needed to pickup my car because she was leaving for the day. I told her of my previous arrangement and she told me that it doesn't matter, I needed to make the arrangement with her (mind you their operating hours say they close at 6pm on Sat) I then get a call at 3pm, Rosie tells me I need to go in and check out my car as there's been an accident. When I get to the shop, Howard tells me he forgot to bleed the brakes and when he was backing it off the lift, my car didn't stop (and it looks like it hit another lift). I didn't lose my cool, mistakes happen. Rosie assures me that she will take care of all the repairs with a local shop and would call me that Monday with next steps. A week passes and she never contacts me(I had been in contact with the body shop directly though) so I contact her to let her know that I would need a rental while my car was being repaired.and she balked at that request. I wasn't looking for anything above and beyond, but at this point just the bare minimum. Take your car elsewhere if they won't take responsibility for their mistakes. I had my insurance take control of my repair and my car ended up being totaled.
