Great service. We have a 2007 VW bug and this is the only person who works on it. Always truthful about what needs to be done and the price is always worth it.

I literally called to see if they offer inspections and the man who answered the phone seemed like he had no clue what I was talking about. Very incompetent and worst customer service.

I bought a 1975 VW bus with engine problems. Went to Oak Hill Auto the next day because I wanted a VW expert to quickly & properly get me on the road. Told the owner to check it out fully & make road ready as well as sort out the engine. I told him it had the original 1800cc motor, & the 3rd cylinder was bad, no compression. A week & a half, & after the motor had been completely torn down, the owner called & said the original 1800cc couldn't be rebuilt, well it could but would be too expensive & take a long time. A VW specialist should have known this. I wasted a week & a half and expensive labor. I had to order a rebuilt motor from GEX International & ship to OHA. It took 7 days(5 business)for the motor to be installed after it arrived. Research I've done since says a 5 hour job, 5 days is unexplainable. Especially considering they did nothing as far as checking it out or making road ready. I picked up my bus once contacted, and asked for my old motor. Got a bunch of hum-hawing, & it's not ready, & pieces are everywhere, you'll have to come back. Felt like they were hoping to keep my engine they'd spent a bunch of time tearing down. When I returned I was told the owner I'd dealt with had retired. I was told he threw away my pistons & cylinders. Those were my parts, & not OHA's to throw away(or sell). My bus lasted 58 miles after picking it up until it broke down. Rear shift coupler bushings fell out in my driveway. Totally deteriorated & caused me not to be able to shift. Every bushing in the front shift linkage was totally gone. These should have been replaced when the motor was out, but OHA did nothing. The bus was out of commission for 5 days waiting on parts to show and install. The bushings were installed & it lasted another day before breaking down again. Had to get a tow. The fuel pump was bad & the fuel filter was really old. 2 days after that the bus broke down again. Had to be towed. The carb linkage cross bar had not been tightened. The adjustment bolt fell out & left me stranded. The air cleaner cover on the right carb was missing a wing nut & just hanging. Left air cleaner cover was also missing a wing nut. A hose from the top of the right carb to a pcv cover on the motor was reversed & wedged in with a 1/4" gap on one side & held with one nut because it was so cockeyed. At this point I knew to check every nut & bolt. The 2 bottom engine mount nuts were not even finger tight. Whoever installed my motor used different thread pitch nuts. They stripped my engine mount stud & never got 2 of the 4 mounts tight. They were so lazy or incompetent they said "oh well" & sent it out the door. They also sent it out the door with a really loud backfire. Because they didn't bother to tighten down the carb linkage down bars & it was pushing excess fuel into the system. They sent it out the door without any of the dash/warning lights working. The throttle cable adjustment was nowhere close to where it should have been. The workmanship that my vehicle received was beyond pathetic. It's a wonder the motor didnt fall out in the road. They had my bus for 3 weeks(minus 4 days shipping a motor) to do a motor swap and it's taken me weeks to right all the wrongs. OHA will NEVER work on another vehicle of mine. I dealt with the father in this operation and then he retired after I picked up my bus. I contacted OHA and my credit card company to share my experience. The son's who have taken over told me to bring it back but my vehicle was never in driveable condition long enough to make the trip to longview & by the time I had spent weeks getting it straight it was too late. My credit card company reversed the charges. The son who took over is now disputing my claims & fighting me over the charges. I was charged a super premium for an "expert" to work on my vehicle & they couldn't even be bothered to tighten down 2 of the 4 engine studs. The old man ripped me off & the sons are now backing him up.

Very courteous and helpful, I was told practical and useful information as well as how-to help and honest prices. They told me they were there to help and would be there to help any step of the way, the kind of help you cant find on the internet that only another person face to face can help with. I would suggest any classic VW owner visit them for parts and service

Took my 2001 TDI Jetta in for brake work. Daniel was able to diagnose the problem, get the right parts, and install them. The brakes are working excellently. I recommend going to Oak Hill automotive for any VW service that you need

Very well stocked VW parts house. The owner also runs the counter. Very pleasant, and very accommodating. The prices are really no better or worse than most VW parts outlet. That said, in the internet world in which we now live, we often forget how much better the face to face contact is. For instance; I walked out, got into my truck to leave, then remembered I forgot brake lines. I walked back in the store, obtained the part, then left for home. Try that online. You would have to place another order, another shipping charge, etc. Great place to do business.

I had an exceptional experience with Oak Hill Automotive yesterday and specifically, their owner, Daniel! I ran into a problem on a weekend with a locked wheel on my 1972 VW Bug, and despite it being his day off, Daniel answered his phone and took the time to ask me about my issue and walk me through some options. He provided valuable insight and advice. His dedication to customer service is truly commendable. I highly recommend Oak Hill Automotive for their expertise, professionalism, and outstanding customer care. Thank you, Daniel! You have gained a customer for life.

I have a 63 Karmann Ghia and a 69 Type 2 Westie Bus and was wanting an engine refresh for the bus as my plan is to so some serious road trips in it. I started doing some research on who I was going to use for the engine build, and had 2 different VW shops recommend that I call Daniel at Oak Hill. I am in the DFW area and after considering my options decided the 2 hour trip to Longview was worth it to get what would be best. Thus far am incredibly satisfied. He listened to what I was after, made some recommendations. I countered with my own ideas and he gave me reasons why he had made his recommendations. At the end of it all I now am the proud owner of a 2007cc engine in my bus. It looks amazing, Drives amazing, and has the power needed to make my bus scoot when that pedal is pushed. I will continue to update this as time goes on as I suspect I will be "needing" to update that Ghia engine soon. I am not sure how I feel about the bus being able to beat it in a race. Thanks Daniel and crew for an awesome experience.
