As it turns out, the shop owner failed to repair a faulty timing belt which had been noisy at the time of the initial repair visit. He even told me later that it was my water pump, much later. God was with me when my car died last week in 65 mph traffic on a major expressway and I sat on the side of that road for 3½ hours. I had called this mechanic and he agreed to wait for the tow to bring my car to the shop. I called and texted to give updates and HE GHOSTED ME! Haven't heard from him since that day! I paid him for a repair he did not complete! He is not a man of his word. He owes me a refund if not the cost of the new repair! I have therefore changed my original rating...

Horrible communication. I spoke to Joey on a Friday and let him know my truck stalled out on the highway and that I wouldn't be able to have the truck at his shop until 2pm and wanted to know if he would be able to look at the vehicle the same day. He said yes. Long story short, on the following Wednesday, the truck still hasn't been touched. What a waste of time. I picked it up and took it to another shop. RESPONSE UPDATE: Yes the vehicle was towed and the keys that came with the truck were the RIGHT keys. I even tried them when I got there and told your brother. You didn't charge me anything because evidently the truck wasn't even looked at per your brother and another worker at your shop. So as I said bad communication. You didn't say anything about the truck starting, I didn't find that out until I went to go to the shop on Wednesday to get an update because when I called all day Tuesday, my calls weren't being answered.

I won't lie, I initially "judged a book by its cover" prior to making my appointment at Payless Automotive - it is definitely a neighborhood "No Frills" automotive. However, I was so pleasantly surprised by the great customer service and communication from Joey and his team. And the best part is - their rates are extremely reasonable. They didn't try to upcharge me like some of the other auto shops I went to prior to Payless Automotive. Glad I found my neighborhood mechanic! Thanks Joey and team!

Decent ppl it’s just that Joey lied when it came to working with me to try & get my transmission replaced I kept having to reach out to them instead even when they kept saying they would give me a call back. I was told that he was waiting on the warranty people to respond but when I finally called them & told them everything he said to me they said they haven’t heard back from him since May 17 & that they told him to send the quote over, so the entire time I’m thinking the warranty people are playing & making the process difficult just to find out the entire time it’s the shop so I decided to find service elsewhere !

Payless stands by their work! 20 year old Subaru overheated. Diagnosed a bad thermostat and repaired quickly. Next day it heated up again and I was told to bring in and they would make it right. Found a bad radiator cap and replaced it, all under original estimate. This was my third different car repair by Payless. Joey and crew are the good guys. Satisfied with all the work, the price and great customer service.

This place is trash!!!! Joey is a big liar and scammed me out $1500.00 Dude was supposed to replace my motor in my truck. I paid $1900 for the motor and agreed to pay $1500.00 for Joey to install it. However this ain’t happened! After he received the motor he called after about a day/two working on it called demanding money. I said “ bro it’s 1500 trust me I got” he called few days later and said your car ready. Man I went up there car still had same issue oil light coming on. Took it to other shops everyone telling me he ain’t turn a single bolt. It’s a SHAME!! Broke mechanic stealing money. Look at this place it’s a trash dump junk yard.. dirty and no where to seat a customer. Meanwhile he got his daughter riding around in that black Mercedes suv and she is the one answering the phone. I’ve hired a lawyer to go after him at best. I won’t forget. So Joey DONT bother making seem like you care because you don’t. I want $800.00 out my $1500 I gave you and that’s being nice because I know you still got my motor I purchased.
