I took my car to pep boys for brakes and I also had them check my battery. The energy in the place when I first arrive was good. They processed to work on the car then all of sudden. Joe had great energy but he told me that they couldn’t get a part off the brakes because they didn’t have the tool, but the mechanic had one but he will be in next morning, so I made arrangements to come back the next morning@7am. I arrive the next morning but to my surprise the mechanic was broken down on the side of the road, but to my acknowledgment he would be in ASAP. A hour and half passed still no mechanic. So I uber to work because i informed my supervisor I’ll be there by 9am. At this point I’m so frustrated because they fail to keep there word of getting me out in hour an half. But overall they got the tool they needed; my car was ready around 1245 that afternoon. I felt as though I should received a big discount, but it is what it is. Steve put his best foot forward to make everything right but I just wasn’t feeling it.

Absolutely Outstanding Service – Highly Recommend! I can’t say enough good things about Pep Boys Eastwood Village and their incredible team. My mom and I were stranded in the parking lot next door at Regions Bank when my car battery died unexpectedly. Steven, the store manager, and David, the maintenance tech, truly went above and beyond to help us. David personally came over to jump-start my car and got us back on the road in no time. Within an hour, he had a brand-new battery installed and took the time to thoroughly inspect my vehicle. During his inspection, he noticed that my tires were dangerously worn down to a 2 and made sure to provide a clear, affordable quote to get those replaced the very next day. Both Steven and David were professional, kind, and genuinely focused on making sure we were safe and taken care of. The entire shop gave off a warm, welcoming vibe—and you could tell they really care about their customers. I went here because my vehicle was shaking at 20-45 mph. I was told I needed new tires. I bought new tires. But the problem persisted and eventually worsened. Fast forward, and the issue was a torque converter shudder (my transmission), finally diagnosed by a different shop months later. The tires were never the issue, and even though I actually like the new tires, I didn't need them, as was expressed to me, and I'd have much more preferred to have my vehicle properly diagnosed and repaired and my time saved.

Waited almost 2hrs for just a tire rotation. They texted me that my vehicle was ready. When I was sitting waiting on it in the lobby the entire time. And I was on a conference call, and didn't see the text. I just so happened to see my truck sitting in the parking lot, and I thought that was very inpersonal when they knew I was waiting on the truck.

I made an appointment for 4:30 on 11/20/2025 to have a headlight replaced. I saw there were a lot of cars ahead of me, and I understood. I was patient and really didn't ask for any updates. Around 5:45, I was told by Jennifer that my car was about to be ready. I was never told after that that it was finally ready, so I continued to wait patiently, assuming maybe something took longer than they thought it would. I tried to be understanding. At 7:20, I hear an associate helping another customer. I go to ask for an update as it's 20 minutes past the store closing at this point. I see my car outside and think "oh, great! They just finished." I go to grab my purse from the lobby and pay. The associate looks at me confused and asks if I'm there for a vehicle pick-up. I say yeah, my car is that one, and point to the car waiting outside. He says that he didn't realize I was still here and my car has been ready for a while. Won't be honest with me about how long my car has been ready. Hardly sympathetic, got nothing more than a "I'm sorry about that" from the associate at the store whose name I did not catch and Jennifer at the front desk. The associate blamed it on Jennifer leaving before my car was done. Is it really too much to ask for him to have checked the lobby? And even if I wasn't there, wouldn't I have gotten an e-mail or a phone call? Would they have just kept my car all night if I hadn't been there to ask about it? For a HEADLIGHT? I was just really disappointed. I've used PepBoys since college (maiden name McGee) but never again. Supposedly the area director is going to call me to discuss this matter but I still haven't heard from anyone at this time. 3 hours for a headlight and no accountability. Just silly, honestly.

Detailed Review for Pep Boys – Irondale, AL My experience with this location was disappointing from start to finish due to poor communication, inaccurate inventory information, and a lack of accountability from the staff. On October 6th, I called Pep Boys Irondale to confirm availability of two specific tires for my Ram Promaster. I was told over the phone that the tires were in stock. To be absolutely sure, I called again at 9:21 AM that same morning and spoke directly with an employee in the store. I confirmed the exact tire size and asked a second time if the tires were physically in the building. The employee again confirmed yes, they were in stock. I then asked a very clear and direct follow-up question: “If I book my appointment online, will these tires be pulled from inventory and allocated to my order?” The employee responded yes, explaining that tires for online appointments are supposed to be pulled and set aside in advance. Based on that assurance, I booked my appointment for October 10th at 11:00 AM. I chose this location specifically because I was told the tires were available. There is a Pep Boys only three miles from my home, but they did not have the tires I needed, so I intentionally went out of my way to Irondale to avoid problems. When I arrived for my appointment on 10/10, I was immediately told the shop was 1.5 hours behind schedule. Since I drove 20 minutes to get there, I agreed to wait. After approximately two full hours in the waiting area, an employee finally approached me—only to tell me that the shop did not have the tires after all. They then attempted to upsell me to a different tire at a higher price, as if this situation was routine. I explained to Jennifer, the employee assisting me, every step I had taken to prevent this exact problem: • I verified inventory twice. • I confirmed allocation procedures before booking. • I selected this location only because I was told the tires were guaranteed to be there. • I waited an extended amount of time, even after learning they were significantly behind. Not once during my two-hour wait did anyone check inventory, confirm my appointment items, or communicate that there was an issue. Only after the wait did they come forward—leaving me with no tires, no transparency, and no attempt at customer service recovery. At a minimum, given the extended wait, the incorrect inventory information, and the misrepresentation during my phone calls, the appropriate resolution would have been to discount the alternative tires to match the price of the tires I scheduled my appointment for. That would have been an acceptable acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused. However, this was never even offered or discussed. Instead, the situation was treated as if the misunderstanding was on my end, when the reality is that every step of this failure originated from inaccurate information provided by Pep Boys employees and a complete lack of follow-through. Ultimately, after wasting time, fuel, and patience, I left without tires and without any confidence in this store’s processes or customer service standards. I will not return to this location, and I will be posting this detailed account across all platforms where Pep Boys is reviewed. No customer should have to go through this level of miscommunication and disregard, especially when it was entirely avoidable.

Worst experience ever at a mechanic. Recommended work that was just Complete elsewhere and not needed. My appointment time was not honored and it took me almost 6 hours To give me a front end alignment, they quoted one hour. Do better Pep boyz

Very friendly! I scheduled an appointment for 9am for 4 tires. I figured around 2 hours. Went and got breakfast and came back in an hour and 45 minutes. Truck still sitting in the parking lot. Went in n told them I would come back later (I had an appointment). Dropped off at 2pm and they called at 4 pm saying that the front end needed an alignment and I said go ahead and it would take an additional hour. I finally had my wife just take me back at 640 pm and they were just pulling it out. Overall I am happy with the tires and service just be prepared as far as time goes.
