My husband was out of town for work and I woke up to a completely flat tire ! I put air in the tire but he wouldn’t hold for long! I was lucky that my pep boys shop was not far from home, so I made it to the shop around 1:00 and they had checked out and replaced (it had a big nail in it) by 3:30! Very pleasant staff and great service!

Wouldn’t recommend this place to Anyone. I’m disappointed on the quality of work this place lacks. Never was like this before. I got 4 tires done from them and they ruined it and I was unable to get my tire rotated afterwards. I brung in my receipt of my proof they did my service and they was going to fix it but told me I had to pay.. for their mistake. Then one of my tools from my glove department was missing and they were the only ones who had access to them. Price Honda was the ones to fix Pep boys mistake. They even did a bad service on my husbands car and he was quoted higher than two other repair shops.

A Sunday aftenoon around 3pm, I realized that I had a small nail in the sidewall of my tire so I needed a new tire ASAP. I called the store in Dover Delaware and talked to a gentleman named Kameron. My hope was to match the tire and they informed me that they did not stock my exact tire, but could order one. I then asked them what tires they had in stock in my size that would most closely match the tread design. They quickly suggested a brand they had in stock that was an excelIent match. I asked them if they could handle the job for me that afternoon with only a few hours till closing. They said they would work me in and have it completed before they closed. Their service was excellent and the price was competitive. I do not write many reviews, but I was impressed with the overall experience and would not hesitate to return to that store for future business.

Dover Delaware Pep Boys, I have never had a problem with them. The register guy Daniel, Is so informative and understanding, The service is awesome! Just wish they had some coffee, tea or hot chocolate set up in waiting room, with no flys, lol. I had scheduled my appointment for oil change, left went out to eat came back, And I had to wait like 15 minutes. Car is done, Will be back!! Sincerely, Happy Customer

I cannot recommend Pep Boys in Dover. My first indication should have been when I went into the shop and there were two people arguing with the technician about their service and charges. Let me back up. I called Pep Boys to see if they had the tire I wanted in stock. I gave them all the information (brand, size, tire type) and was told they had them in stock. I took my vehicle in and once again gave them all the information regarding the tire I wanted. I left the vehicle, and they called me when it was complete. I picked up the vehicle and looked at the tires and noted that they had put a different tire on the vehicle than what I had specified. They told me they did not have the tire I wanted in stock. The technician told me that he informed me over the phone that they did not have them in stock. That was not true. He said what they put on was a better tire. So why was it cheaper than the one I specified and why did they not contact me to let me know before they just decided to put on the other tires? He said they had a 30-day ride guarantee and that I could bring them back if not satisfied so I conceded and left. The next day I was on the highway and noted that upon reaching 45 mph the vehicle began to shake. It got really bad at 65 mph. Obviously, they did not balance them properly. I stopped back at the shop late that morning to have them rebalance the tires. They said that they would get to it right away and that I could wait. One and a half hours later they were still not done. I questioned them and they said it had only been 20 minutes and that I was next on the hook. I couldn’t wait due to another appointment, got a ride and told them I would be back after my appointment. An hour and a quarter later I returned and they still had not gotten to my vehicle. I was told the guy was on break and should be back in about 15 – 30 minutes. I left and told them to call me when it was complete. Three hours later I had still not heard from them and called them. They told me my problem was the front, left wheel hub. Now mind you, I did not have any problem with shake prior to having the tires changed and had the wheel hub replaced 6 months prior. They told me that they had taken all the tires off and rebalanced them. The following day I headed out of state, and the tires were still shaking. I looked at the tires and noted that there were anywhere from 6-9 weights mounted on each tire, except for one that had no weights. How can that be? Now you know why I cannot recommend Pep Boys. Poor customer service, poor communication, unqualified technicians, and long wait times. I will get the tires rebalanced and the wheel hub checked elsewhere. There’s a good chance the tires will be going back to them. Can’t wait to see how they go back on their ride guarantee.

Made an appointment for brake service and an oil change. The man checking me in seemed highly annoyed. I made the appointment for 4 p.m. I thought it was convenient and I even called to ensure this was a time I could wait not drop off. Well I was told my vehicle was ready THREE hours later. Mind you a walk in … NO appointment came just before me and was serviced and out before me… she walked in for an oil change. The person checking her in even told her about the managers special for the oil change where as I had to ask little angry man about the coupon and if it could combine with the brake coupon. So it’s car ready time and that’s when i found out NOTHING was done to my brakes! The rep looked at me like he had no clue as the master mechanic left around five. I said if the person who does brakes left as you said why did I sit for three hours and NO ONE came out to tell me. My main purpose coming here was BRAKES! He told me I can come back tomorrow BUT HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE MY CAR COULD GET SERVICED! This was a customer service failure! I should have gotten an appointment to come have my brakes cleaned as he said that’s what I needed… I will NEVER RECOMMEND OR USE PEP BOYS! Horrible waste of time!

I am extremely disappointed in our experience with Pep Boys. We were originally looking to have a tire patched and they had recommended replacing the tire. We prepaid for the tire and received a call the same day saying the car was ready and available for pick up. Unfortunately we were unable to pick the car up the same day so we called first thing in the morning to ensure we were able to pick up the car. Once again the receptionist confirmed that the car was ready for pick up and the that the service was complete. We picked up the car and instantly the tire pressure light popped on for the same tire. We went back into the store explaining that the same tire had the tire pressure light on. The mechanic said that “oh it’s the sensor and you sometimes have to drive for it to turn off.” After speaking with the manager we found that the tire had not even been dropped off. This whole situation was extremely ridiculous to have confirmation multiple times that the service was completed just to have the parts not even be in. It is unprofessional, unorganized and more importantly seeming to be untrustworthy.

I had a family member buy tires here a few days ago... they spent over ten hours waiting on a tire installation. I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. They should have been honest about not being able to provide services that day when he called instead of having him wait that long. It's no wonder they are closing locations in this state (Kirkwood Hwy and Christiana Rd are both completely closed up state now, as well as another location), between the long wait times and at least one now closed location getting caught scamming customers, I'm not surprised.

Do Not Go here!! They are a complete joke and will take advantage of you if you are by yourself!! They still didnt even fix the problem that I went in for the first place and I went here 4 different times spent over 1800 plus the parts that I had to buy because they said I needed it!! All I know is now I just want my money completely back so I can go somewhere else to actually get my vehicle fixed!! I was told one price by someone then went to go and see what would all be done today all of a sudden I needed 1400 worth of work done today I said how did it go from 800 to 1400.. he didn't answer at all.. then I called my husband to get here because I felt like I was definitely being taking advantage of. As soon as he came in and walked up to talk to the guy all of a sudden the price was different and things were missing from what he originally showed me. But still not the price that was originally 800 still on er a 1000 and still have the light on my vehicle...

The staff was pleasant the day i came in for service but customer service plummeted from there. No one seemed to care that i was not able to go to work. They assured me it would be done next day but was still not done 2 days later. Then they tried to tell me it wouldnt be available for 2 more days, making it 5 days without a car, because the technician was off the next 2 days. They finally finished it after 3 days after I complained about them trying to make me wait. Then when going to pick it up they left it unlocked in the parking lot and said oh well its in sight no one will get into it. Service was completely unsatisfactory. Definitely will not go back to this place again.

I did not have a great experience at Pep Boys today. First I spoke to a rep who assured me they were partners of Tire Rack and if I ordered my tires through them, installation will be free because they are partners. When I get to my scheduled 8am appointment , I was told that I had to pay through tire rack for installation. Then I waited 3 hrs for my car to maintenance. I watched them do 2 vehicles ahead of me. When I asked why people were going ahead of me a guy said they were “waiters” , well if I had an 8:00apt which I was 10mins early for and I walked into the establishment at 8:01 , why would any other vehicle go before me. That is the entire point of appointments. I planned my day according to my appointment which meant nothing to this establishment. This is not good business

I took my car in to get my ac fixed they did an amazing job working on my ac however when I left my car over night my rims weren’t scratched, I checked them before even leaving the car overnight because I had to go grab my car seats out of the car. When I got home from picking up my car from them I noticed my front passenger side rim got scratched and was told they didn’t see anything on the cameras and can’t do anything about it. If you go for service take pictures aid your vehicle before and after. A picture of what my rims looked like and then after I got my car back from them.

I’m truly sorry to see how Pep Boys has declined over the years. I’ve trusted the brand for more than 20 years and have been a loyal customer at the Dover branch for nearly seven. I’ve always recommended this location to friends and family — but unfortunately, not anymore. My recent experience was deeply disappointing. The staff has become increasingly rude, unprofessional, and dismissive of customers’ concerns. They often make promises they don’t keep (at time of taking in the vehicle), and when questioned, they respond defensively — even trying to make you feel at fault. The biggest issue starts at the top - I mean the store manager of the facility. Customer service reflects leadership, and the store manager sets a poor example by prioritizing sales and profit over honesty and customer satisfaction. When management encourages such behavior, it’s hard to trust the store again. To make matters worse, I was charged over $125 for a “service insurance” I never requested. If Pep Boys doesn’t trust its own parts and workmanship, how can customers? Between hidden fees and inflated labor costs, the final bill can easily increase by 20–30%. My advice to anyone visiting this location: ask for every cost and service item upfront, including any added insurance or fees. Sadly, this will be my last visit to the Dover Pep Boys. I take no pleasure in writing this, but when a once-trusted brand loses its values and respect for customers, it’s time to move on.

They were professional, efficient, and had me back on the road. Really appreciated their willingness to help during an unexpected situation. The service was great and the price was fair. My check engine light came on right before I had to take it through inspection (of course!). I called around at 5 pm, and Pep Boys could get me in first thing the following morning. I utilized their early drop off process, which was very easy and convenient. I could see the progress through the link they texted me, and could even see pictures of the issue. They were in contact with me throughout the process to explain the issue and to give me options for how/what I wanted fixed. My car was even ready about 5 hours ealier than was projected. The people are kind and professional. They fixed my issue and I was able to make it through inspection with no issues. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend them to a friend.
