My Lexus hybrid’s ABS went out about 700 feet from Punahou Auto Service. I initially called Lexus for help, but they were surprisingly unhelpful. After realizing how close I was to this shop, I managed to safely pull over and spoke with Juan about what had happened. Even though the shop was packed with cars, he took the time to listen and quickly identified the issue as likely being the ABS. Juan allowed me to keep my car there until the parts arrived, which took about a week. Since I had never been to Punahou Auto Service before, I asked around for referrals from friends and family before committing to the repair. Throughout the process, Juan was incredibly patient, understanding, and honest. What stood out the most was how much he valued trust and customer loyalty over making a quick buck. That kind of integrity is rare. I’m truly grateful that what could’ve been a dangerous and stressful situation turned into a well-handled and reassuring experience.

Dont go here! On February 18, 2025, I took my car to Punahou Auto to have the fuel injectors conditioned. After inspecting the car, Punahou Auto contacted me and stated that my sixth cylinder was failing and would need to be completely replaced, not just conditioned. The following day, I picked up my car and noticed the check engine light was still on. Using my OBD2 reader, I found code P0171, indicating an airflow issue in the engine. This issue had not existed prior to their work, suggesting it was related to the recent service. When I returned to address the problem, the staff dismissed my concerns and mocked me for being “a young girl” who supposedly didn’t know what I was talking about. The encounter was humiliating and upsetting. I then took my vehicle back to a new mechanic for evaluation. They discovered that Punahou Auto had cracked a tube, causing a vacuum leak, failed to properly seal the fuel injectors, and never replaced the sixth injector despite charging me for the part and stating the work had been completed. Their work was sloppy and directly damaged my vehicle.

This place is awesome! I called because I had no clue why my car wasn’t starting. It was quite impressive seeing all the employees working together and then they replaced my battery and I was outta there in 20 mins when I thought I’d have to wait tomorrow. I’m a mother and teacher so having a safe working vehicle is a priority! I will be coming here for all my future services now. It’s convenient they are close to home as well! Mahalo!

The owner of Punahou Auto Repair was so gracious to assist me with installing a replacement side marker light (to cover a turn signal) and a front license plate bracket in order to pass a vehicle inspection for my daughter's 2001 Lexus RX 300 which I was registering for out of state registration. Unfortunately, I couldn't complete the registration due to not having the vehicle title in person with me but my daughter was able to complete the vehicle registration after I mailed it to her. The owner was super gracious and helpful since I needed to complete the repair and vehicle inspection on the same day in order to meet a 3 pm appointment at the City of Honolulu Satellite Office at Ala Moana Mall

I needed a new auto body shop to service my car, and had heard of this place from some coworkers! Was definitely worth it! Showed up as they opened without an appointment, and took me right away! They made sure to do a full inspection of my car after they preformed the 2 services I asked for. They made sure nothing else needed to be done (I did ask for them to point something out if need be). I don't know a ton about automotives, but they made sure to explain everything, and they didnt try to uncharge me at all! Just told me straight and to the point what needed to be done and not, "this is wearing out you should do this" type stuff. Will be returning for future services!

We have been coming here for years now, either for inspection or repair repairs and we are never disappointed. In fact we are always amazed by the quality of service and this is why you should always support mom and Pop shop. Is that a big chain like Jiffy Lube, although they are good they’re not as great as these guys. There also so conveniently located next to a major supplier of car parts so repairs are relatively faster than your average place that has to send out for it

Won and his crew at Punahou Auto Service are THEE BEST..!! First time i met Won, he helped me with a motor swap for my 07 BMW 335i. This time around, i needed clutch work. Not only did they get that done with custom firewall work, i had an ignition problem from before that they trouble shooted and solved for me. We all know how much a pain in the butt electrical is, but they took the time to address that issue for me as well. On top of that, they got me a new car battery which was needed. Then, replaced my key fob battery for free as a service. Won kept me informed throught the entire process and i appreciate that alot..No Surprises. If you ever need a trustworthy shop to work on your car..Punahou Auto Service is the shop for you. Just go down and look for the handsome "Smiley" guy in the office..thats Won. The service was exceptional and affordable and finished by end of day. I bought a new battery at Oreillys but the battery clamps were so corroded and rusty the battery couldn’t be manually replaced. Punahou Auto Service is next door to Oreillys so I went to their office to explain my situation. They went to the Oreilly lot and charged my car and moved it to their lot to replace the corroded parts and put in the new battery

The team here is very kind and friendly. For anyone looking for car service, I would highly recommend this place. This is my third time visiting a car shop for my car issue, and I can honestly say they are very honest and helpful. They fix only what needs to be done and clearly explain everything. Some shops, if you walk in and don't know much about cars, will likely try to push you to pay for whatever repairs they suggest. But this shop is not like that. They are honest and trustworthy. I would definitely recommend this place and will continue coming back for car maintenance.

Great place to take your car. Very accommodating. Went in for an oil change, they only had one mechanic working as it was a Sunday and almost 3pm.
