Was heading home to LA after a 4,000 mile road trip with the kids and dog when my exhaust pipe was making some weird noises. I drove into a side street but couldn’t figure out where the noise was coming from or whether we’d even make it home. Great, there’s me, my two children and young dog stuck in a side street…at 9.30pm… when I see a roll up door right by us with the light still on inside. I couldn’t believe it, it was a garage AND it was open! I explained my predicament to the guy inside who was working into the night and he said to bring the car in and he’d take a look….right then and there! He lifted the car up, found the problem and fixed it in no time as we sat there in his garage with complimentary bottled water and nothing but relief. The owner, Mr Raya, was amazing and, coming from LA…well let’s just say, I’d gladly make the trip up again to get my car serviced by an honest auto mechanic.

I'm a mechanic (Phoenix AZ), my daughter (super intelligent but mechanically naive 22, Air Force) stationed in Monterey CA. Close to Air Force Base. Although ""after hours " checked vehicle in to inspect first thing next dat. She had multiple concerns with her car, couple warning / engine lights, brake noise that needed diagnosis . After expensive estimates from other ships, I was ready for the worst... and a huge bill. HUGE surprise!!!!!!!!! Shop did full inspection, cleaned brakes, changed oil and explained everything to her for price not much more than what others just wanted for inspection. As a mechanic, I very very very rarely recommend anyone. 10 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I brought my vehcile in to get my catalytic converter and oxygen sensors replaced, as reccomended by another repair shop back home. The gentleman running the shop did not feel comfortable taking another shop's word and suggested we start with a simple diagnosis. In the end, this one suggestion saved me THOUSANDS of dollars !! It turns out only the connector for the sensor was messed up. He did his repairs to the wirring and sent me on my way. Weeks later, no issues. Will be coming back for all my automotive needs.

I had a check engine light on for the past couple of weeks. I never had any time during the week to be able to take it into a shop and get it checked out. I was referred to Raya Automotive through a close friend. I contacted the owner and was informed that I could bring my vehicle in on a Saturday afternoon which was perfect for me. Within a few hours he had my vehicle up and running with the issues no longer present.

After almost 1 year and a half of my truck being in and out of shops and going to 3 different mechanics to attempt to get my truck back up and running Raya Automotive got it done within 2 days! Not only was the service fast but the owner was very professional and found the (real) problem with my vehicle in a timely and efficient matter, the icing on the cake was not only that he found the broken part but even took a picture and sent it to me!! Something none of the other mechanics did or even offered to do! If possible I’d give this shop 10 stars as they’ve got a customer for life now!

I had ongoing issues with my vehicle’s engine and had my local dealership make costly repairs twice. After the 2nd “repair,” which consisted of the whole engine being replaced, I was able to drive my vehicle for a few months before the engine light came back on. I took my vehicle back to the dealership on multiple occasions with the same result, they would run a diagnostic test, clear the engine light, and tell me they couldn’t find anything wrong. Before I knew it, the one year warranty on the repair had expired and my vehicle still wasn’t running properly. After much frustration, I reached out to a friend and was referred to Raya Auto. This was the best decision I could’ve made, it’s been about three months since Mr. Raya repaired my vehicle and I have yet to encounter any issues. Mr. Raya was very thorough, professional, and fair with his pricing. My family and I will definitely be using Raya Auto again for any future repairs.

After 20 years of searching for an honest, skilled mechanic in Monterey, I’ve finally found the place. I’ve brought all three of my vehicles to Reya Automotive, each with unique and tricky problems that most mechanics would have charged me hundreds of dollars just to diagnose. Juan Reya is a true master mechanic. He and his small team consistently provide affordable, common-sense solutions and expert repairs, and they do it with integrity. A perfect example: instead of having me spend thousands on a replacement part to fix an automatic door on my minivan, Juan simply removed the problematic wire and converted it to a manual door for free. Another time, my truck had an intermittent starting issue. Rather than guessing or charging me for unnecessary work, Juan offered to drive it himself not for a couple of days, but for a couple of weeks at no charge, until he could confidently diagnose and fix the problem. That level of honesty, patience, and care is incredibly rare. Juan treats your vehicle like it’s his own and your money like it mattersbecause it does. Reya Automotive has earned my trust completely, and I won’t take my vehicles anywhere else. Highly, highly recommend.
