Absolutely horrible customer service! Extremely unknowledgeable staff, rude and inconsistent with pricing and procedures. Customers beware!

I’d worked in the automotive business for 35 years, and there are a few mechanics in our area that are great mechanics but Over my years as a parts manager both in retail & commercial there’s less then a handful that seem to shine above. What I view on top their ability to turn a wrench(because 95% in our area are damn good) but in Smog Check at the end of 41st theirs Owen and his trusty side kick. From the moment you call or walk in there’s a feeling of respect & trust. I live up in Boulder Creek, and for me and all of my vehicles it’s well worth the 45 minute drive just knowing I’ll not be jerked around Mr B

Said it would take 1/2 hr. Then they took an hour for lunch, while I sat in the parking lot. wound up taking 3 hrs, trust? Then they decided they did not want to deal with me. so the guy said it would cost over $100 to diagnose why my vehicle failed. buyer beware.

Total rip off. Poor customer service. Does not know old cars. Guy claims he knows about older Porsches, but clearly did not. He thought my stock Gen 1 Boxster had been modified. I had the dealership confirm it was stock. But, no, he thought he knew better from his quick Google search. If you don’t know, that’s fine. Just don’t claim you do and then waste my time and money. He couldn’t give me a refund unless I came back in. Are you serious? I’ve also never met someone with such horrible manners. You can at least be civil when dealing with people. You’re in customer service!

I go here twice a year, The real service is: ask for DMV form and mileage. if people find that upsetting then smog check should learn how to deal with the entitled .I find The service easy fast and great. I have always been impressed with techs and the staff. One gentleman is the best mechanic west of the Pecos. They have a Female smog tech and are female owned, Remember This an excellent multigenerational business That has also gone through weather, Covid , flu and are still open and still local. By the way al the bad reviews had the car fail. You brought the car to them and then got upset when they let you know it is not correct.

I had great a experience. They were fast, despite being very busy. While my wait, I did over hear the people that had really old cars or catalytic converter repairs were failing the smog. That is probably normal though, but if you have that issue, just know that is a possibility.

The name of the business explains itself. Quick and easy. Called the day before and got an appointment within 24 hours of calling. Brought the DMV slip and they said “come back in 45 minutes”. Came back in 45 minutes and paid, and that was it.

Very efficient. I have had good service each time. There is a small inside waiting area but for social distancing use the two outside benches. There is also a nearby deli, Starbucks and a Safeway if you want to run an errand while you are waiting.

I brought my car in for a smog here as the DMV required it be done at a Star station. My car failed smog, and when the extremely sour, unpleasant woman behind the window informed me of this she said: "have you not driven your car in awhile or had any work done on it recently?". I told her yes, that the battery had been replaced the week before, and she said "oh that's why it failed smog so you need to drive it around for about a week then come back in--I usually ask people about that". So I said "okay, so when I bring it back I won't be charged for the second smog test, right?". She said "Yes you will be, but it will only be $30". I told her that if she'd asked me the question that she "usually asks people about" this could have all been avoided. Her response: "I don't have time to ask people lots of questions". I said "It's one question, not lots of questions". Total joke. She was so utterly unpleasant, never saw a smile cross her face, worst customer service possible. When I brought it back in my car passed smog the second time, I paid the $30 (on top of the original $45 I had already paid the first time), and I will never come here again. I highly recommend you avoid this place if you are reading this. The woman I dealt with was literally as unpleasant as they come.

A good place, friendly workers, and no lines. I made an appointment over there website and dropped my car off at the appointed time. I read a book for 45 minutes in there outdoor waiting tent and then picked up my car and a smog certificate. Relatively quick and easy.

Excellent, fast, efficient, friendly and prices haven't changed for 2 years, still $50 with their $5 coupon that is readily available.

Got in first thing in the AM and found 7 others with the same idea! Got the smog check done in an appropriate amount of time. Try to get yourself an appointment, if not try later in the morning.

DO NOT GO HERE. There are many other places to get smog done in Santa Cruz. Don't give them your service. I took my car in for a smog check and felt like I got scammed. My transmission was replaced the day before and they said I failed smog because the car was not driven far enough for the sensors to give a proper reading. They charged me the full price for a false negative on the smog check and they offered to do another test after I drove it 60 miles for 30% off... They should ask customers if their battery has been unplugged or any repairs have been done so people don't get screwed by a false negatives on their test. I tried reasoning with them at the register and they threw it back in my face. So because they wanted to charge me twice they no longer get my future business and my friends who recommended them to me will no longer go there. Not a very economical business decision on their part.

I should have looked at the reviews before coming here. This is supposed to be a family owned business..more like a mafia. They ripped me off doing low down business. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS place. They tricked me into paying extra by telling me it didn’t pass. The young lady who seemed nice said to drive it for a while and come back. I did that and came back then waited several hours later. So it passed just because I was told to drive it and then I have to pay almost double what I originally paid? Instead of $90 I paid over $150.00. Then she said it’s stated on the wall. After the fact she says that. That’s the scam they probably are doing to people. This so called family business should be reported. DO NOT EXPECT HONESTY AND INTEGRITY. These people are out right crooks. The worst of this is that the employee at the desk smiles offering me $5.00 discount after she knew the business scammed me. Some people can stoop down so low and wallow in their filth of deception. This business is steep in the muck. Read other reviews like I should’ve before even coming here.

As you can see by the majority of the other reviews you should not visit this place. Unfortunately, I did. After explaining that I was putting mileage an my car and watching my code reader to see when and if the sensors would reset I asked if there was any chance that they would be able to give my car attention quickly if I was lucky enough to get the last sensor to reset. The employee just said, "no" and chuckled. I asked if they were booked all day and he again said, "no". So rather than try to reason with him I just said that I would take my business elsewhere to which he replied, "Get outta here". I understand that many businesses in the area are busy and making an appointment is always the best approach if possible (although other reviews even bring that into question with this place). But in my case, trying to get the car smogged as soon as the final sensor resets is crucial. I've been in this position several times over the years and have worked with several SMOG check places that understood the situation and worked with me. It's fine to say that you cannot help me or that you cannot promise a quick look at my vehicle. I mean, my problems are my problems not theirs. But there is a way to communicate that to people that is not childish and dismissive. In closing I will say with confidence after my own experience and reading the previous reviews that this business does not care about your business. There are PLENTY of other places to get your car smogged. If you have decided that you will not bring your car to this business at least in part because of this review please click "Like" below. Hopefully, if that number rises this business will understand that their treatment of current and potential customers has consequences.

I had the misfortune of having to go to this place three times to pass smog. I like to think of myself as a reasonable person and as such I understand that customer service is less a priority in an establish the government mandates people go to but with the exception of one individual, each person seemed less inclined to help than the last and the one I was most tired of interacting with was the face of the business, the person behind the glass at the counter. I felt the disdain every time she had to put her phone down to deal with me. I will go elsewhere going forward and recommend others do the same. If you do go, don’t come after 4:25pm, don’t ask for a bathroom, and if you want more information on why you failed with no code, good luck!
