Very lovely people own and operate the establishment. It's remarkably clean considering the fact that it's a automotive parts and repair business. Cory was so helpful.

Very helpful. I stopped by to ask a question, and they helped me take the nuts off the drive shaft. They didn't charge me for it. I will definitely be back to buy parts!

First off, let me give a thanks to Sabien and the rest of the staff at Standard Gear and Transmission! The service was awesome, and the results are incredible! Hopefully my experience will help others with the Cummins / G56 drivetrain. My throwout bearing was making noise for some time, and I continued to drive the truck, as it is my daily driver. Long story short, this destroyed my clutch fork, input shaft, and input bearing. I was on the fence for some time about doing away with the stock dual-mass flywheel and clutch. Sabien recommended a South Bend Clutch OFEK kit, and let me say, it is amazing! The engagement is similar to stock, but very positive. It does not grab, and shifts are silky smooth. The trans was refilled with 30 wt synchromesh, and it now runs smoother and quieter than I ever believed a G56 could. Pedal effort with the new hydraulics is so light that I nearly pushed the pedal through the floorboard when I started the truck for the first time. Gone are the truck's tendency to buck and jerk in reverse, and the noises from the factory clutch. I'm literally having to learn to drive the truck again, as it's manners and sounds are like new. I would HIGHLY recommend this clutch! Thanks again to Standard Trans. And Gear!

Never issued credit back for my core charge! Purchased a rebuilt NV4500 and a South Bend dual disc kit for my 24v Cummins in Aug '11 and have fought with them for months now, BBB complaints, provided tracking numbers, BoL provided etc., they'd be willing to give me 1/2 credit now in July '12, haha, thanks for nothing ! And my "rebuilt" NV4500 shifts horribly, no reverse synchros, 3rd & 4th synchros are basically garbage. . . These guys are a joke of a business, I wouldn't buy anything from them

Where do i begin with this place, the first time i sent my nv3500 manual transmission to them i had it back in a timely manner. After it was installed i noticed it was leaking, leaking from a crack in the side of the case that wasn't there when i sent it in. So i sent it back to them, almost three weeks later i got it back. A couple months later bearings started going out internally making a God awful noise and now i am outside the six month warranty. So back to the transmission shop it went. Got it back and it is still noisy, doesn't shift very smooth, fyi, has a new clutch, slave/master cylinder, & fly wheel, and has started leaking again. Keep in mind i think i have put about 12k total miles on it since i put it back in this last time. On the plus side though, they didnt give me any problems warranting the problems. It is just a pain to pull the tranny because of it being 4wd. Having done it three times i can have it all out in a little over an hour. I also have a co-worker that got a ford manual tranny from them and it went back out in 60k miles.

Have an '86 Toyota 4WD, 22RE with a W56 all stock & it was almost bullet proof-w/ over 200K miles. Back in 2010 some bearings in the trans started to go. Asked for recommendations & was told Standard did good work. Took 'em three tries but they finally got it right. Yeah, they honored their warranty but I'm the one doing the r & r (which I got very proficient at) & after the first removal w/ a floor jack (what a hassle) went out & bought a tranny jack. After the second removal they told me to replace the pilot bearing, which I'd already checked, but did it anyway. Had nothing to do w/ the pilot bearing, which lets out a rattling sound when it's loose & everything to w/ what I consider lack of workmanship.

My company was shut down during covid right after installing a NV4500 I purchased.. 2000 miles later it won't hold into 5th gear . I call them I even told them about the problem during covid and they asked me to change out other parts like the shifter tower that wasn't the problem before sending transmission back. Well now that everything is open again where I'm from even my auto mechanic.. So.. they tell me tough luck that their company was open during Covid that it should of came in during the warranty period even if my town and business was shut down.

2 nv4500 transmissions 1 lasted 4000 miles blew up 3rd gear. 2nd trans got 5000 out of it 5th gear blew up, upon further inspection I found the beating retainer bolts had backed out due to improper installation. I politely asked for help on this matter and they blamed me and my driving. Little did they know I had run the new trans for 4k miles breaking it in never towing at all and I am the only one who drives this truck. Never followed up with me and my product I bought from them that they obviously don't stand behind. Spend your money elsewhere you will be disappointed with these guys.

I had a Toyota W56, 5 speed manual transmission needing rebuilt due to noise while driving for my 1994 Toyota pickup. I took it to them and was told 2 weeks turn around time. I recieved phone calls and updates saying how they where having trouble locating parts needed for repair. I took it upon myself and confirmed that all parts where available and in stock at Toyota of Fort worth. I requested genuine Toyota parts to be used because I wanted quality and peace of mind. Well after 2.5 months of waiting and $1,000 spent I finally recieved my transmission back from them. I reinstalled the transmission in my truck and test drove and shifted normal and quiet going down the road. However once at idle and sitting at a stop it has a horrible and extremely loud knocking noise coming from the transmission. Like the input shaft is rocking back and forth I can apply pressure on the shifter noise goes away. At this point very upset and disappointed so I take the truck back to them and let them listen. They say well we don't currently have an open lift available bring it back by the following Monday. I follow what they told me and come back the following Monday but they are busy and don't have time or an open lift. So I told them I'll remove the transmission in my driveway bring to you so you u can look at it. I performed my own labor even though they have warranty but always seemed to busy and not have a lift available. I removed the transmission brought it to them they have it for a week and say we didn't find anything or see anything abnormal but replaced the bearings just incase. I bring the transmission back home and reinstall it in the truck even with new clutch and pressure plate. Sure enough test drive and the noise is still there. I do not recommend Standard transmission based of my experience it's been nothing but painful headache and expensive waste. Please find somewhere else and your research and stay away from this shop.

FYI: I would never waist my time writing a review specially a bad one but this must have to sed before they get you too!! Lied in my face about having experience with g-force gears for T-5 ,transmission was hitting first and second gear hard, called them within that same week , told me it was my “new clutch” and to drive it , drove it for about 100 miles , no different then they told me it was my bad clutch after I repeated told them it wasn’t clutch issues since gears weren’t going in while off as well , but then I replaced it same thing took it over right away and they were trying charge me for labor when transmission had warranty and was having issues since day one , it was a lot of back and forth I decided if I was going pay Again I would take it to someone who knows what their doing . Turns out due to their lack of knowledge I had spend another 1500 on internal parts and labor due to, I quote a real professional words “badly built transmission “ , funny part of it all is the second story they sold me was that the T-5 transmission are meant to be like that and that I’m suppose to put in 3rd and then into 1st for smooth shift for the owner I would love my money back! And for everyone reading this i would not take a transmission here they lack experience and knowledge. Their transmission don’t last a week till you have to come back!

These guys and gals are awesome at what they do. I brought my g56 6 speed manual out of my 08 ram with 125k on it, they ran through and replaced the items that needed to be replaced and I'm currently at 318k doing hot shot loads daily pulling 25k+ and the trans still shifts smooth as a dream. They have also repaired my transfer cases. Price is fair and service is top notch. Dont go anywhere else.

When my '06 Dodge Cummins manual transmission began getting harder to shift last summer I started doing research on repair and rebuild shops. I had planned to drive to truck just over 1500 miles from far west Texas to Georgia to a shop I am familiar with. As I don't need the truck daily I put off driving it as much as possible. I drove it maybe 200 miles a month since last July. In January the transmission began suddenly getting very difficult to use in any stop and go traffic. I knew I needed to get it repaired ASAP. Not wanting to drive all the way to the east coast, I used some networking through friends and the consensus became Standard Transmission in Fort Worth. I called and spoke with them and from the first conversation I felt good about their capabilities. I was on my way up the following week. They got my truck in, promptly determined what was causing my issue, did the repairs and had my truck repaired and out the door in just over two days. They were patient, attentive and confident in listening to my description of the issue and their course of action to repair. The bottom line, the diesel fuel, the hotel stay while I waited (500 miles from home after all), and the transmission repair came in totalled at about $1200.00 less than the best case estimate from the east coast shop. Would I go back? Absolutely, I plan to should I need any more manual transmission or clutch work.

They are rebuilding a 5 spd manual transmission from my 1994 Jeep YJ. They have kept me in the loop on what needs to be done and provided an ETA for completion of the work. I don’t have photos, but if this link is still available, I will be happy to supply photos, later.

I converted my 1990 Mustang from an automatic to a manual and had Standard Transmission rebuild the T5 before I put it in the car. They are honest and do good work for a fair price. It took 8 days to get the trans back, which is phenomenal compared to other shops I've used in the past. My T5 shifts perfectly, is quiet as a mouse and doesn't leak. They also noticed a minor issue issue with the tip of the input shaft being marred and took care of it, likely saving me a headache stabbing it. Good job guys!

Overall had a great experience. I purchased a truck from a guy who just had a transmission redone by them. Had 50 miles on it. At 300 miles I lost reverse and at 1000 miles it hung up in 5th. I called and spoke to Corey whenever reverse started messing up. He informed me they where down techs & had a few trucks ahead of me. So I kept driving my truck until it hung up in 5th. Towed it to them and they got me taken care of a week later. Very amazing staff will be my go to for transmission!

We had such a great experience with Standard Transmission & Gear. Our truck was there for only eight days, two of which they were closed (weekend). The technician called us and let us know what was going on with the transmission. They cleaned up our trans and filled it back with oil, replaced the fork along with other various fixes. Shoutout to Corey, at the front desk, who was very helpful! Thank you Standard Transmission & Gear team for getting us back on the road! Our diesel truck shifts like a dream now!!
