Employees are courteous, friendly and professional. They communicate well and do what they commit to. When I asked for price quote (which I felt was fair) they didn’t tell me about the $20+ shop supply fee; wouldn’t have mattered but….. I’ll definitely use them again.

I had the best experience at sun devil in scottsdale. Mark and the technicians took care of my car and went over and beyond to make sure I was safe driving away safely and without spending an arm and a leg. Definitely recommend this place for honest auto mechanics.

This place is awesome. Bo who is one of the managers there is super helpful and kind. They get things done very quickly and they are super honest. They will not over charge you or rip you off like most other mechanics. Highly recommend!

While attempting to back into a parking space at a client's restaurant, I encountered an unexpected problem: my gear shifter lost all tension. This left me stranded, unable to reverse, shift gears, or even turn off the vehicle. After making a few calls, I located Sun Devil Auto on Bell Road, who assured me they could help. Upon arrival, their mechanic promptly assessed the situation, instructing me to keep my foot on the brake while he began diagnosing the issue. After a few minutes, I engaged the emergency brake, and he carefully moved the truck into the service bay for further inspection. While at the shop, I also decided to have them address the front brakes. However, the challenge of owning a less common truck quickly became evident when they discovered the shifter cable had snapped—and the replacement part was on backorder for 3-4 weeks. Undeterred, the technician suggested that a shifter cable from an '09 Chevy Tahoe might be compatible, so they ordered it. In just two hours, the team had not only replaced the shifter cable but also completed the brake service. Their ingenuity and efficiency were truly remarkable, and I left thoroughly impressed by their expertise. Sun Devil Auto exceeded all expectations on this one.

Very faulty service - would not trust this place for even routine maintenance. I came in for just an oil change, the plug was not tightened afterward which caused all of the oil to spill out of my car. I contacted sun devil auto and they refunded my oil change and offered to clean the bottom of the vehicle that was covered in oil. While I appreciate this, they made no mention of reimbursing me for the oil bought out of pocket to make my car drivable again. After several hours of fixing the oil issue myself, cleaning my parking spot, and going to the auto shop to buy more oil, I can’t recommend this place to anybody. This carelessness could have seriously damaged the car. Take your car to a more experienced place! see photos for proof :

They did a diagnostic that was very thorough and it turns out there was a glitch in the computer that turned on a engine light, but they went through everything and found nothing wrong, I felt good that they did a thorough job… good place to go!

Made an appt for oil change a week out, dropped my car off. A few hours later, I got a call saying that they don’t have the right oil filter. I asked if I should just pick up my car, but they had already drained the oil!! They suggested to put on the old filter or leave my car for days until they could find a filter. I asked if they called the dealer, they assured me they did. I called a dealer, who had the filter - I drove 1 hour round trip to pick up the filter and drop it off. They were skeptical that I got the right filter; it was right. They called me to pick up my car. The filter was not charged, but I asked for an additional discount for the experience and wasting an hour of my time and gas. They said they didn’t do anything wrong, and it was not preventable. 1. They started the work before ensuring they had the right parts, and when I made the appt a week in advance they were not prepared for simple work. 2. I found the part in 5 min, there was very little effort on their side to resolve this situation. I won’t be going back.

Absolutely the worst auto shop experience I’ve ever had. I came in for a simple oil change, paid full price, and trusted that the job was actually being done. Turns out they never changed the oil at all — they literally left the same old, dirty oil in my car and tried to pass it off as new. I only found out after noticing my engine running rough and taking it to a different mechanic, who confirmed that nothing had been changed despite the receipt saying otherwise. This shop is either completely incompetent or straight-up scamming customers. The dishonesty is unbelievable. If they can’t be trusted with something as basic as an oil change, imagine what else they cut corners on. Save your time, money, and car — go anywhere else. This place should not be in business.

Don’t know if all Sun Devil locations have the following problems., but I suggest avoiding this location. In August I brough in our 2017 Elantra for rough running engine. The diagnosis was a misfire and the recommended service was spark plug replacement. This did not resolve the issue. I returned the vehicle two weeks later. The service tech recommended replacing the ignition coils. This resolved the issue. The initial diagnosis of recommended spark plug replacement was a misdiagnosis. I paid $470 for spark plugs I didn’t need. Also in August I brought in a 2010 Sonata with check engine light. The engine when cold would start and run. Once the engine was shut down, it would start again but immediately die. The engine would not keep running until it was cold again. The diagnosis was to replace the fuel pump. This did not resolve the issue. I returned the vehicle in September. The recommended service was a throttle body cleaning. This did not resolve the issue either and after spending $1,800 the vehicle is still undrivable. In April, 2024 I brought this same vehicle in for hard downshifting upon deacceleration. The recommended service was a transmission rebuild. I opted not to rebuild the transmission. I brought the vehicle back in June of 2025 to readdress the issue. After a Google search of these symptoms, several websites cited a TSB whereby the recommended service was to reprogram transmission adaptive values. I presented this to the service representative. When the tech performed this service, the issue was resolved. I am not an automotive technician and don’t feel as though I should need to research and diagnose the issue for the service tech. During all of these services I have been charged $200 “diagnostic” fee for misdiagnosing the issues with my vehicles. Until this year I have never been charged this fee. The service reps have also been recommending additional services (e.g. tune ups, GDI fuel system cleaning for NON GDI engines, etc.). I keep all my service records and can see that these recommended services were just performed BY Sun Devil a few thousand miles prior and do not need to be done. These services should be in their data base and the service rep should know not to recommend services that are not due based on manufacturer recommended service intervals. After these unsatisfactory experiences, I pulled up Yelp reviews. I see many one star reviews where customers have posted the very same service issues that I have experienced, so my experience is not unique. I don’t know if this is systemic throughout all Sun Devil service locations or just this one at Bell and Tatum. I do know that when Jon Erickson, Carlos and Jonathan Lathrop were the store managers at this location, I received excellent service. Not so much now. Won’t be going back here again. 10/24/25: Update on the 2010 Sonata. I took it to another service technician to resolve why the car would initially run, then die upon restart. The correct diagnosis was a failed ECM. After replacing the ECM, the car now runs perfectly. So, Sun Devil is either incompetent and charged us $1,800 for fuel pump and throttle body cleaning it didn’t need, or fraudulently sold us these items they knew wouldn’t resolve the issue. Either way I recommend staying far away from Sun Devil.

If you’re looking for an honest, professional mechanic there simply aren’t enough words to describe how much I reccomend Jason at this Sun Devil Auto location! My car is older than I am and constantly needing repairs, this time it was for a break-fluid change, new break pads and rotors. Not only was Jason able to reccomend me a time when practicality no body would be there (7:30-7:45am), but he also explained exactly what went in to the cost and was extremely kind, patient, and informative! Now since I’m constantly needing repairs ive called just about every mechanic in the valley at some point and been to a small handful of them; Jason was able to give me a more than fair price for the work done. Not to mention everything was fixed and ready to go before noon! If you were on the fence or not quite sure that this was the right shop for you hopefully you see this review as your sign!

Where do I begin. Told them when I first brought my car in that I’m looking for a place I can trust cause (Big O) where I used to take my car was getting absurd with their prices. Sun Devil seemed like they’d take care of me. Boy was I wrong. Short of getting my engine replaced they couldn’t help me. I spent a couple grand trying to resolve the issue and still having the same issue. Well I gave them a second chance and brought my car in to get my oil changed and I woke up to this a couple days later (see picture) it really sucks cause I was hoping Sun Devil was going to be the place I brought all my cars.

Picked up the car today after full coolant system overhaul. They replaced all the hoses around the engine plus water pump and charged a little below 5k. After driving it to work for 10 miles I had to refill coolant again. They just replaced a bunch of parts and did not fix the problem - FRUSTRATING! UPDATE - I was just there to request a partial refund because the work was not done right and the person I spoke to pointed out some more potential problems for additional charges. I truly believe they don't know what they are doing and did not diagnose the problem right, just installed a bunch of parts. I mean 5 thousand dollars should get the cooling system fixed right? Don't go there if you want a problem fixed. Another update: Car is in and out the shop and when I pick it up everybody assures you that it is working now. It will not make 10 miles without leaking again. I guess that is what a $4,600 repair bill is nowadays. I would have taken it somewhere else but they don't do refunds and I am simply out of money. FRUSTRATION CONTINUES!

They replaced the battery in my jeep and told me the error message in the photo was only a nuisance message. I told them I still wanted it cleared. Again, while running their scam, without doing any work on their own, they again lied to me and said it wasnt an issue. They gave me the keys, charged me 486.65 and told me to come back tomorrow for the nuisance message, but that I didnt have to. I trusted them and when I tried to start it again the battery was dead a second time. Now they refuse to refund anything and nothing was fixed. Total scam.

Let's just say they helped me out of a jam. They had the ability to get me in quickly, they did a thorough inspection and resolved my issue for a price so fair you wouldn't believe it if I told you. Great service. I just wanted to say thank you for the team because they went above and beyond. Tire and suspension troubleshooting. You guys know what you did. Thank you. I needed that and I appreciate it.

Can't really recommend. They did decent work, quickly, but they charged 3x what the Toyota dealer would charge for parts. The exact same labor/hours. So the dealer would have been a cheaper/better option.
