I will never go to Take 5 again. 10 minutes, my ass. Not only was their basic oil change (no filter) $110, the $10 coupon the company texted to me only worked on the most expensive oil change, something that wasn’t printed online and only printed on the coupon that was texted to me. After the oil change was in progress. I waited 45 minutes to get into an OPEN BAY because the girl working there didn’t want to upset the customer before me for being behind a car in the other bay that was taking a long time to service. I will tell every person I can to never go to Take 5!

Went in for an oil change. Admittedly I knew it would be more because I wanted high mileage full synthetic. They offered $25 off as you can always find a coupon. After I told them that I didn’t need a receipt and I was rung up I was told the cost was 149.87! I said them let me have the receipt. They added a charge for the oil filter??? That comes with the oil change. They said it did not. So I called the Take 5 down the street and they said there is no charge for the filter, it comes with the oil change. They lie and screw you at this location. Be careful!

Sat for 25 mins (in line) just to be told I have to pay almost $100 for an oil change. Wasn’t very happy because I was told to go to Walmart because they will do a regular (not high milage) oil change. I feel I should be able to pick what I want especially since I am under 100k miles. Anything over I would def. Treat high milage.

I got my oil changed 12/6 at this location. Fast forward to a few days later, my engine light was on so I got it checked out. The filter was installed incorrectly and the drain plug was stripped, and spins freely. I stopped by the location to discuss and was just met with simple refusal that they caused the damage. I contacted corporate and opened a claim and was told that a district manager would be contacting me. It has been weeks and I have heard nothing. I have called corporate multiple times and have been told the same thing every time, and still no one has reached out. I have never felt so ignored by a company. Furthermore, the drain plug was never supposed to be removed on my vehicle, the standard procedure for my car was that the oil was supposed to be vacuumed out, but they removed the plug anyway. I hope someone at a higher lever reads this and reaches out. Beware when using this location.

I do not recommend coming here at all. I only went because I had a coupon for $25 off but will not be returning. I had to argue to simply get economy oil into my car (a 2017 ford escape) because “it’s recommended to only put full synthetic oil in cars newer than 2005”. I repeated myself and he went back and forth 3 times with me before he finally gave up and left to “make a phone call so they won’t be liable for any problems in the car” which was definitely just a scare tactic to try to get me to change my mind. Then he proceeds to pull my engine filter out (still white with a few leaves a small amount of dust in it) and try to claim that it was extremely dirty and that my engine would break down if I didn’t replace it that day (which was a lie/scare tactic again because my car is NEW I’ve had it for 2 months). I declined and he insisted and I declined again and he gave up before trying to claim my coolant was mostly water and my engine would break down (another lie). They then proceeded to not screw my oil cap on properly so once I started my car oil spilled out and they refilled it. Eventually they almost let me leave with my oil change notification still on and I asked them to turn it off. They definitely were trying to take advantage of what they thought was a “dumb young woman” who didn’t know anything about cars. They might get away with it because it’s a college town and a lot of people have never been without their parents and don’t know these things but do NOT go and do NOT let them convince you to do unnecessary things. It was an awful experience where something that should’ve only been 10 minutes and costed $43 nearly costed $200 due to them trying to scam me. I can definitely see some people getting scared and giving into their scamming if they don’t know better. DONT GO HERE!!!

I have been utilizing Take 5 for over seven years and it is the ONLY place I will go. I’m a senior living on Social Security so having oil changes is financially difficult. The young men have always gone out of their way to ensure I get what I need, not what other companies want to tell you you need. I have never met any technicians with bad attitudes. I utilize the store on University Drive in Denton Texas. I love these guys and know they would do anything in the world to help me. I trust them completely and know they truly care about me. I will never go any place else.

I never leave reviews but the staff here is actually so great. I know nothing about cars and came in for an oil change cuz my car sensor was saying I needed one, but turns out the place I went before just forgot to reset it lol. The person helping me *i think their name was ellery? if so shout out ellery* showed me some other things in my car that would need replacing down the road and explained what they should look like new, how long until they would need to be replaced and even explained the tests that were run. It was super refreshing cuz it really did help me learn more about my car and not feel so much like a dingus when pulling up to car shops. anyway long story short it’s super hard to find mechanics like this so they definitely deserved a review <3 *also it was so cold the night I went and super busy even an employee not on the clock was helping *shout out to him as well:)*

The experience with the person that help us was really good, he was helpful and good customer service, the reason for my 3 star is because they didn’t secure the undercarriage cover and it fell off on the freeway and it was dragging. I also notice the oil pan was not clean up after service. I called them 3 times the same day and it send me directly to voicemail.

Worst Ever One hour and over charged. 2000 Ford F250 oil change only. Rotella R5 15-40 and a filter was $250 The going rate for an oil change and filter is $150-$165 My recipe was weird, no personal info, no vin, no plate, no name, mileage showed 500 miles. I was a first time customer with a $25 off coupon. Initially they wanted to charge me for full synthetic at $256. After we cleared that up and completed the oil change with the standard Rottela 15-40 they handed me a $250 bill. I said that’s for full synthetic.. They said no that’s normal non synthetic price. What? They would not answer when I called back. After calling a national number and speaking to customer service. They said a regional manager would call me back. I’ll update this if anything happens. ***looks like an AI BOT asked me to call after I had called. Update, they totally don’t care. They haven’t gotten back to me. All they did was generate a “call us message”. They said a manager would get in touch. I email with no response so they are not a well run It’s just that they told me it would be $160 over the phone and it ended up being 250. Actually, 160 minus a $25 ($135)first time customer. So I thought wow I found my new oil change spot. TAKE FIVE SOUNDS GREAT, BUT HOLY COW….

This really deserves negative stars. One is being generous, but I have to choose something. A former repeat customer at this location. After a prior oil change here, the skid plate screws on my vehicle were stripped. When I returned for service, the on-duty manager said the damage must have happened elsewhere and claimed there was no record of my vehicle until I produced a receipt from this same location. After seeing the receipt, the manager said it was “not his problem,” refused to provide corporate or management contact information, and offered no repair, reimbursement, or next steps. I contacted corporate customer service myself and was told a district manager would reach out. That never happened. I followed up six times over more than 20 days, each time being told customer service could not help or escalate further. No one ever contacted me, and the damage remains unresolved. This location damaged my vehicle and then refused to take responsibility or resolve it. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend not trusting ANY Take 5 location with your vehicle.

Beware! We called the number provided from google maps, it turns out that is the corporate number not the store’s number. They (corporate) quoted us $65 with coupon included for oil change on a 4cyl car. We pull into the bay and after they start taking stuff off the car, they tell us $150 but $125 with coupon. They stated “we can’t control corporate prices and these are our prices. We cannot honor corporate pricing”.

Extremely disappointing experience at Take 5 Oil Change. The pricing is very misleading — I was charged separately for an oil filter, which should clearly be included in the advertised service. On top of that, they added unexplained shop fees. Shortly after leaving, my splash guard was dragging down the road, showing a clear lack of care during the service. I attempted to contact both customer service and the store manager, but received no response or follow-up. With over 344,000 followers on TikTok, I plan to share this experience to help others avoid the same frustration.

There were three gentlemen working there when I went. The seemed knowledgeable and they didn't mess around concerning the work. With paying I had to tap the payment machine so as to enter my PIN. I felt satisfied with the service and hope to get my next oil change there when it is time. As it was cold weather they kept the exit bay doors closed until it was time to leave. Being able to stay in the car helps as well since I can keep the kids there with me.

These guys were amazing! Getting my oil changed is normally my least favorite activity; I don’t know much about cars and normally I leave places feeling like I was being judged/belittled/up charged. Both employees that I spoke to were kind, explained everything to me, and I left feeling way better than anywhere else I’ve gotten an oil change. I’m not sure what their names were, but they were both gentlemen and very helpful!

Update- Someone responded to the review asking me to call the store and talk to a manager. I did so and talked to Assistant Manager, Adam. He proceeding to tell me once again, what all of the added fees were for. Fees to put the oil in the car for the service I had already paid for. He then said he didn't know what else I wanted him to do. When I said I don't need you to explain policy to me again, he hung up on me. I did not yell, scream or curse and the member of management hung up on me. Once again, caveat emptor. Total scam. They give you one price quote then charge you additional fees but have already done the work. When I asked the technician (Ian) he said it is a scam but blame it on corporate. Absolutely ridiculous!

I went for an oil change for my mother in laws Ford Fiesta with 78K miles. I anticipated spending less than $100, but felt coerced into getting the mid level oil change at $104. While I did agree to and purchased an air filter, I was charged an additional $35 for an oil filter that was never discussed/disclosed ultimately bringing the final balance to $166. It dawned on me, I am not from the area and inadvertently disclosed this with the technician, so the interaction felt more like a hustle/transactional. At the beginning of the visit, I requested air for the tire, however, the salesman seemed focused on upcharging me that I had to remind him to check the tires air pressure. All in all, it failed to meet the customer experience one would expect from a reputable company. There are several options within a 3 mile radius and I suggest the staff focus on listening, educating and establishing a connection with the customer…within the allotted time available. It is this quality that will separate your company from other and provide longevity. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

This was by far the worst service experience I’ve ever had. I came in for something simple — an oil change and coolant exchange — and left with my car in a dangerous condition. Within minutes, the dashboard lit up with overheating warnings telling me to stop driving. When I looked closer, I found they had left a panel hanging open underneath my car and coolant leaking out. This is not just sloppy work, it’s reckless negligence. They put my safety, my vehicle, and everyone else on the road at risk because they couldn’t even do the bare minimum correctly. Instead of peace of mind, I was left stranded with a car that could have suffered major engine damage. If you value your car, your money, or your safety — stay as far away from this place as possible. Their incompetence is shocking and unacceptable. I expected professional service, but instead, I had to deal with unsafe driving conditions right after leaving. Extremely disappointed with the quality of work and lack of care.

I went in to get my oil changed. I mentioned the type of oil I wanted and they claimed they did not have that type of oil. When I went to pay, I realized the price and noticed they charged and gave me the oil that I asked for although they said it was out of stock. This is the second time I’ve been to this location and they have lied that the oil I want was out of stock in an attempt to get me to purchase a more expensive oil. They also insisted they go inside of my car to check the air filter after expressing I wasn’t looking to get it changed. They left grease marks all over the inside and outside of my car. I am incredibly disappointed and do not recommend this location.

Just had my OIL changed by Jaydyn Ian and Ellery. They were so nice. Told me about changing my differential oil too which I had no idea about. These guys seem very knowledgeable. Not to mention I showed up 15 minutes before closing and they didn't seem upset at all.

We come here all the time. We have never had any problems before. This visit, my daughter needed her usual oil change. They told her she would also need a coolant flush for $145!!! (Luckily, we have taught our daughter common sense) She told them no so they proceeded with... "if anything happens to your engine, it's not on us"....seems like they tried to rip off a young college student who they thought didn't know any better, and try to guilt her into purchasing the flush. We told her to take the car to our family friend who we trust and has worked on our cars for years. He said there was absolutely no need for a coolant flush. It is just amazing what some people will do to try to make some money. We will never bring any of our cars back here.
