Do not bring your car here! Peter is full S*** and a liar has no idea what he is doing and after being charged a ridiculous amount money the car he worked on has never been the same and keeps having a lot of car problems due to his work

I called Peter on the recommendation of another local mechanic Shop and asked if he could look at a '90 VW Vanagon Synchro I was looking to buy, but that I had just driven all the way from Long Beach to Santa Barbara. Our 86 Westy broke down in Santa Barbara on a road trip. A local VW repair shop told us that The Engine Company would be the best place to get it fixed. Peter and his crew took really good care of us. He and his office manager went so far as to suggest a close by hotel and drove us there while we waited for the repairs to be completed. He clearly has decades of knowledge and experience with German cars. The Westy now runs better than it ever has.

Professional and very nice Auto shop. Can repair is expensive, that a given. The more expensive you car is the more expensive the repair will be. Well today I am have some car repair done. Full suspension from any back and then some and a few other smaller things. See the do excellent good quality work all new parts and unlike most shop here they try to get you the best possible price and they tell you step by step and part by part what they are going to do to your car and how much with labor and taxes.You want good work at an honest price this is the place. If you want to go elsewhere and pay more money that's you business

I needed a battery for my Vanagon which wasn’t easy to find in town. I called Peter right before closing and he offered to stay late to help me out. Even though it was a simple battery install, he made sure the terminals were cleaned and the housing unit was spotless before he replaced the battery. Seemed detail oriented and went above and beyond to stay late. I will be bringing the van back for an inspection and maintenance and will keep you posted on the next visit.
