I normally don't post to things like this, but after my last experience with the Team at Truman’s, I felt it necessary. My daughter went to a repair shop in Ankeny to get an oil change, when she left, they presented her with a list of items that needed to be fixed on her car. Most of which due to the age of the car I felt were not out of line. When I talked to Adam McRoberts (Owner of Truman's) about the repairs and the costs he said, "Just drop it off and we'll take care of you"! When his mechanic called and told me that whoever did the assessment of the car was completely off and all it needed was an oil change and a set of tires, I just about went thru the roof!!!! I wanted to call the other shop and really chew someone out...but I figured that giving a positive review would hopefully go a lot further! I would recommend checking with the Team at Truman’s before spending any money with any other shop!

I had a bad wheel bearing and it broke. It was so bad the vehicle had to be towed into Truman’s which they helped me find a tow company. I was expecting a huge repair bill. They fixed the wheel bearing and found a couple little issues that they took care of for me. When they called me with the estimate it was a lot less than I expected. A honest days pay for a honest days work. I am very happy with the work and about half of what anybody else would charge. They are my go to mechanic from now on.

I’d give this place a thousand stars if I could! Not only are they honest, educated and friendly… they go above and beyond. I had the pleasure of working with Richard. He has a heart of gold and is trust him with my vehicle any day. Their communication and commitment is beyond the best I’ve ever had at a dealership. They don’t try & take advantage of those who don’t know much about cars & don’t try to Jack on a bunch of unnecessary “needs” that aren’t needed. I was referred to them by a co-worker after getting a ridiculous quote/opinion from another body shop. I’ll never take my business anywhere else and they will be at the top of my list for vehicle recommendations.

Horrible people told my sister in law she needed new motor would be 10,000.00 dollars. Got second opinion and 1000.00 dollars in parts and car runs like new. This place takes advantage of women! Don't go here and I will talk to better business bureau and attorney general about this. Shops like this are in it for the money only. They didn't take valve cover off engine or anything won't ever go back and will never recommend for anyone

If your looking for a local shop with competitive pricing and honest work ethics look no further than Truman's Auto, right outside of Altoona. I called Richard around 9am looking for my car to be seen by a mechanic after calling EVERY shop within a 10 mile radius, and Richard was able to fit me in and look at my car WITHIN 15 MINUTES of hanging up the phone with him. (My car was fixed with only 1 day at the shop, and they were down a mechanic even!!) Being myself, I am not super car savvy whatsoever, and Richard was able to diagnose my car and explain the issues to me; showing me which parts they would need in order to fix it. Richard even went as far as going in depth about the install and how the parts go on and bring functionality to the vehicle. I highly recommend this shop for any automotive needs, they are super honest and transparent on their pricing/installs, as well as giving top notch customer service and speeds with it. I was driving down the interstate and my car stopped accelerating. After a quick Google of nearby mechanics I stopped off at Trumans. I figured Id be stuck at the mechanic all afternoon but I wasn't. There was no BS. They got the car in and had new parts delivered to the shop with in the hour. The parts were all installed within less than another hour. Price was reasonable, actually lower than I was expecting.
