📢 I have had a lot of work done here at Tuffy's in Loves Park. From struts to calipers, brake fluid flush, pads and rotor(s) replacement and oil changes. I can say that I have not been disappointed yet. They honor their work and go outta their way to make sure you as the customer are 100% satisfied with the work performed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💯

The staff always goes above and beyond. They are always friendly and accommodating with each visit. Plus always proactive and transparent with suggested repairs seen while fixing the current problem. They take their time to fully diagnose the root cause of a situation and often times provide options for repair. I would highly recommend Tuffy to anyone!

The service writer was really nice and helpful; I had absolutely nothing bad to say about them because they treated me respectfully and very cordial. I would definitely return there, and also they kept me informed as to what they were working on and what they would address next.very impressive.thank you.

I don't normally respond to these, but my experience at Tuffy in Rockford has been on my mind since I left. I hit a big pot hole with my truck, and I started hearing clunking sounds when turning at low speed. My Tundra is notorious for lower ball valve joint failures, so I needed a quick suspension inspection before driving an hour back home. Danny at the front desk was sympathetic to my situation and squeezed me into their booked schedule before close. Not only did they inspect the suspension, but they showed me a few other things I was not aware of and we discussed best plan forward and I was quoted for items which I discussed at length with the automotive tech who performed my inspection. To wrap up, these guys are top notch. Even when I was leaving, I overheard another customer who had also had an excellent experience and was wondering where the other Tuffy locations were located so they could continue to service their vehicle at Tuffy. I see why these guys have been in business for so long. Special thanks, again to Danny, who took extra time to review the Carfax report with me near after the close of their day to investigate if some repair items may still be under warranty. These details do not go unnoticed. Excellent customer service.

I am a new customer who had an urgent situation:~my hood wasn't reaching the latch to close all the way (only the secondary latch was holding it down but with a large gap, allowing wind to get in). I was in danger of it flying up,. Being near my office, some guys from the office suggested this shop, partly because they're open Saturdays. I was greeted at the shop with warmth and care, even though there were multiple cars being worked on and they were a bit backed up. Because they cared about my safety, they squeezed me in anyway and fixed what none of my buddies could by adjusting the hood latch. And for a very reasonable price. I will now go back for some other minor issues my car has. I absolutely recommend them and am so glad to have found them! Thank you Tuffy's!!! 👏🏼😁🚗

The guys were really nice and they fixed my 1987 New Yorker air conditioning. It had an issue and had to come back for something to be cleaned out to work right but they were really nice about it and they even gave me a ride home one time. Thank you

DISHONEST!!! Do not take your car to this shop unless you want to be ripped off. Wish I could give this shop zero (negative) stars. I took my car here for a small problem that should've only been a couple hundred dollars. By the time they were done looking at it, the bill was in the $1,000s. I had a trusted second opinion and they stated that I didn't need more than half of the things that Tuffy's recommended, which turned out to be true. The second shop stated that all of these other components that Tuffy recommended were in perfect working condition and that Tuffy's tried to scam me!! Needless to say, we didn't have Tuffy's do that work and now the car is fine. Take a look at the other negative comments and you will find many other customers who have also experienced the dishonesty of this shop. Maybe read the replies to those comments too... Stay as far away as possible from Tuffys, would not recommend their services to my worst enemy.

Update: Came back to Tuffy's four short months later and having complete opposite experience and wish I could rate 0 stars. I dropped my car off last Friday and was told it was a 14 hour job and should be done Tuesday. On Tuesday, I called Tuffy's to say hey I wouldn't be able to make it by 6pm to grab my car so if need to put aside for today and work on something else, being considerate because they were so lovely last time. The kind lady on phone said oh glad you called because we have to replace something else on your car and need your authorization. I said ok and gave my verbal authorization. Never heard back on Wednesday or Thursday; figured having to replace something else maybe required an extra day. Today, Friday, I called to see when it would be ready....to be told it's a 10 hour job (originally told 14 hour) and wouldn't be done until Monday now. I said I dropped it off last Friday, that's plenty of time. She said it's because they didn't receive my authorization on extra repair until Tuesday...yeah because no one called me! Had I not called who knows. I'm a single mom with one car, had to save up for this several thousand dollar repair, pay for a rental car all week. Now I can't afford to continue with a rental car and won't have one for the weekend or to get to work on Monday. Poor communication and time management. Bummed because I was excited to have a good mechanic shop. I'll have to find a new one. - I do not recommend Tuffy's to anyone unless you have unlimited time to be without your vehicle . ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Original review 4 months ago: I came in with a flat tire and bad alignment. From the initial phone call until I drove away with fixed car, Tuffy’s staff was kind, patient, thorough and understanding. My car drives like a dream now. Will definitely be going back! They even had a loaner car, so I didn’t have to worry about a rental. Josh went above and beyond answering all my questions and even spoke to my father who had his own set of questions. Thank you, Tuffy!

**Attention, if your money is important to you, don’t come here** Places like this just use their name recognition to screw people over. If I could give them negative stars I would. It’s honestly my fault for coming back to this place after they lied to me about how much my tires were going to cost me last year. They quoted me $500 for both tires to be replaced, turns out they don’t know how to read, so I ended up paying almost $1000. This time was a complete rip off. My car died on the road and I had it towed to Tuffy. It was clearly an electrical issue. My battery had just been replaced three months prior, so we figured it’d be the alternator. When I dropped it off, I asked for an oil change as well. A few days later, they sent me the inspection report for a total of over SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. On that report they said I needed to get another new battery, alternator, new tires, and some other stuff that I don’t even care to recall. The alternator alone was going to cost $823 to replace and install. My fiancé called and told them not to do any more work on the car, at all, full stop. They proceeded to do the oil change that I had originally requested before they came to us with all of the other “issues”. Well they decided to continue with the oil change and charged us for that as well. My fiancé called them back and asked them why they would replace the oil on a car they were saying couldn’t run anyway. The owner responded, “well, she was going to pay to make it run.” Needless to say, I picked up my car and brought it home. The car started leaking oil, when that previously wasn’t a problem … it seemed as though they messed with the seal for the oil housing. We replaced that and now it’s no longer leaking. Also, got the new alternator replaced for ~$350 and the new tires for around ~$250. So fixed two issues for less than what they estimated for one. The workers here seem like nice enough people, but the owner is an absolute jerk. And since I know you(he) will respond to this, I hope you have the day you deserve.

I normally do my car repairs myself, but didn’t have time to do this job. They told me the cost upfront, thats what they charged. However, the mechanic should have notified me, the driveshaft, definitely needed replacement, and given me the option. The service ticket said “if U-joints fail again, the driveshaft should probably be replaced”. No urgency in that message. About a month later, the front U-Joint failed, when one of the caps popped off, on the expressway, because the driveshaft had serious wear (but there wasn’t any urgency). I was able to limp my vehicle to safety, then replaced the driveshaft myself. They helped in a pinch, but I should have been told, the driveshaft needed to be replaced asap. Won’t go back. Since there is no place to respond Why didn’t you guys call me, to say Your driveshaft needs to be replaced? Giving me the option to replace it? Would have made sense. There was absolutely no urgency, in your statement “if the U joints fail again, the driveshaft will probably need to be replaced” So after I got it home, I replaced the driveshaft myself (why didn’t I bring it to Your shop, if I would have to do the repair myself). I never said I only drive it around town. You must have assumed. Taillight bulbs and TPMS sensors are critical. The frame is hardly at the end of its useful life. The weld stitching the frame rails from the factory, were rusted out, not the frame rails themselves. Should have called me, before installing the new U joints, I would have agreed to a driveshaft replacement, and figured out a ride. P.S, you should allow customers to respond directly to Your response. If the frame was so badly rusted, that it was unsafe, then how was I able to support the entire back half of the vehicle from the frame, when I changed the rear suspension springs. Surely it would have failed, with the differential hanging from it. As a professional automotive repair shop, don’t you have the authority, to stop a job, and even deny a customer from driving off with it, if you feel it’s unsafe? The bad reviews of your shop, aren’t there, because you have exceptional service. I should have read the reviews, but I was pressed for time.

Tuffy Loves Park has always been great to my family and I. Fair pricing, thorough and transparent explanations for repair, and stellar clean work. I’d highly recommend this repair facility! Truly a place I feel comfortable tossing my keys to and knowing I’ll be taken care of!

Unfortunately, in the world we live in today service and integrity have become the exception and not the rule. I can truly say this is not the case with Jim and his staff at Tuffy Automotive in Loves Park. I recently had a fair amount of work done on my 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck. They took care of my brakes and several other maintenance issues. The work was done on time, correctly and at a very fair price. They went above and beyond taking care of my vehicle. When it was done, they even came to my house and picked me up to retrieve my truck. In the words of pop diva, Cher; "If I could reach the stars, I would give them all to you!"😀

My car was hotwired and needed the ignition switch replaced as well as other services. I used chatgpt to double check their prices and they were very reasonable!! The two staff members I interacted with were both very kind and empathetic to my situation. They also offered to drive me to my work which was in the area!! Even though they were short staffed they completed the task for me in a timely manner. They have a great team with great service, I will be coming back, thank you!!!

This place was recommended by our AAA driver when we broke down during our return trip southbound. That was one week ago tomorrow. My husband was already aware of the problem being an issue with the fuel pump in our Chevy truck, but didn't have the "shop" to get it done. He was advised they would start working on it on Monday morning, (two days later), but didn't until Wednesday. Then, they applied oil to let it sit & make it easier to remove parts. We get that, but apparently it needed to sit for nearly 30 hours? During this time they chose to run various inspections, which were never requested & we refused to pay for. Finally, after 5 days, the finished changing the fuel pump & my husband is again on his way home. I'm not sure why they waited so long, wasted time, & he would have appreciated better communication, too. These all appear to be managerial issues, along with misinformation. My husband said the automotive technicians were great when they were actually working! He also met the owner as he was leaving & she seemed very nice. However, we would not recommend this shop, but hope if you choose to, your experience will be better.

What a great place to find that is honest and fair to work on our cars and trucks. They do a complete inspection with your oil change and give you a report on what is good and what might need to be repaired now and in the future. They give you an accurate estimate and the work gets done correctly. I sent a friend and they even had a credit program to get his car fixed. A great local family owned shop with top mechanics and a huge investment in tools and computers. If you’re looking to buy a used car they have a $50 deal to inspect it before you buy it so you can negotiate the right price buying it. It’s just really nice finding a good place to do business!

I am a repeat customer at this Tuffy because the staff has always been so kind, helpful, & trustworthy. I have gotten services ranging from oil changes to major repairs. They keep you informed of any issues and costs. I've never had an issue with a completed service. I will return & I do recommend them. If time is a concern I suggest calling ahead. They typically have been able to say a time frame & they have options for waiting, dropping off, or appointments. Definitely appreciate having a place I trust to take my vehicle!

Excellent for brakes and oil change great price First time! Lisa was awesome gave a very accurate estimate sold me on coming in with her excellent customer service by phone Jackson all day Awesone. Walked in Saturday instead of leaving me wait they have service to take you to your home and bring you back. Jackson super friendly knowledgeable plays great music and answered additional concerns on my way home. They ask do you need car by specific time car delivered as promised 20 minutes each way he took me back and fourth to free my time . Jackson makes you feel like family. He took me in shop with mechanic to make sure I fully understood repairs needed. Didn’t make it about taking my money straight up honesty you could wait on rear brakes you may only get additional month safely gave me the option. Lisa -Jackson and Kenzie are the best representation for why you go to Tuffy on Riverside Rockford. The owner should be very proud of the team. Great price services and just great experience. Kenzie newer to team but she hit all her marks with. Jackson and Lisa. She showed me great promise and will be a great asset to the shop. I loved the 3 of them. Jackson extra great explained all services and what to do after care for brakes ect.. I will continue to use them for all services they offer. Hopefully wouldn’t need the 2 year free Roadside assist they give but if I do feel very confident they will be ready to help. I know found a trustworthy caring shop. I highly recommend. ! Kudos to great shop and team !
