Avoid!!! Never ever again!! I went here this morning for my car inspection and failed the inspecting. The man( who I assume is the owner. He is an Asian man with glasses) told me that I failed because of a windshield wiper blade being broken on the driver side and he said I also needed work on the front end of my car, the left brushel or brusher needed to be replaced. He told me that in order to fix my car and pass inspection, I would need to pay $140 for a new part and $140 for the labor. I told him DO NOT TOUCH MY CAR, DON'T FX ANYTHING. Unfortunately In NYC if you pass,or fail an inspection you have to pay. So he got my $37. *Please be advised this is not my usual repair shop, but I decided to go here because it was close to my house and I was taking care of my sick mother. Fast forward to 2 hours later. I went way across town to my usual mechanic, and got my car inspected and I told them what the other mechanic said about the repairs I needed. They inspected my car, and said that the widshield blade did need to be replaced but nothing was wrong with the front end part of my car. It was perfectly fine. So it's clear the guy tried to hustle me probably because So, beware. Get a second opinion before you let that guy do anything to your car. He's a rip off and I will be reporting him to the BBB. I have my paperwork from my other mechanic which shows my car is in good condition. Avoid that place!

If I could give 0 star i would. Took my car there for hose leak they couldn’t find it so they told me they need 3 days lol. Knowing that They told me they weren’t busy. They were ashamed to tell me they don’t know how to work on german cars. Took it to another repair shop. Found the leak in 10 sec. Literally 10 sec. I wasn’t gonna give a review but the manager was rude bc i went back to him and told him that the other shop found it in 10 sec. Lol

The mechanics are very honest about what parts fixes a car needs, they have never overbilled me, even when I ask for too many changes/replacements they call after assessing the need to see if I really want to do it since there is no need to change x or y. They work fast and im always in the know when they are backordering a part. all in all I like them

Always a great experience where they fix exactly what is wrong and not try to overcharge you or get your car back and something else is wrong that was fine before. Reasonable prices and good communication when they diagnose the problem and wait for your confirmation to fix it. Highly recommend.

Honest guys. There are many mechanics that will add on unnecessary repairs, but these guys are the opposite. I was convinced my aging Land Rover needed help, but after a thorough road test and diagnostic they declined to do any work stating that it was in good shape for a 13 year old LR3. Would recommend.

I have taken several vehicles to this garage over the past 10 years, including their former location on Vanderbilt. I have always been happy with their work, and never felt pressured or overcharged. Highly recommend.

I've been going here for about 20 years. This guy is HONEST. I go to him because he doesn't do unnecessary repairs. They are the best. That woman with the bad review and the inspection story is cuh-razy. John has repaired all 4 of my cars and has been honest when other people have attempted to do things to my car just to get money. His shop closed because of gentrification and the whole Barclay Center being put in place so I had to go elsewhere since I couldn't find him. Now that I need to replace my clutch on my 2008 Honda Fit, I'm going to John. He is the THE mechanic to go to. I'm not taking my chances elsewhere....no way no how.

I came here for an inspection and some repairs. They came highly recommended from 3 friends and I will now start doing the same. Honest and straight forward. Really fair prices. Will definitely come back.

Do not come to this Car Repair, they will damage your car and try to make you pay for problems you didn’t arrive with. I came to this shop needing my oil changed and left with a whole new problem, they messed up my fan and then tried to charge me 1000 to fix it, when I never had that problem before, after being upset a neighbor told me she had the same problem with this same place and so did her husband, if you love your car don’t go here, they over charge and will damage it to make more money

Been to the shop several times for various repairs. The owner John is a straight up dude. No games. Just straight up honest and professional the mechanics that work there are excellent also. I wouldn't take my 2008 Lexus RX 350 to any other repair shop

My brake indicator came on along with the car and squiggly line indicator. Took my car to them they said no brake fluid within weeks same issue. I knew I had a leak I asked them to check and do a few other repairs and my inspection. I was told no leak they will change the master cylinder and that will keep that indicator from coming back. Didn’t explain where the brake fluid was going but I trusted them after $2100 spent two months later the indicator came back. When I take it back now they found a leak so he wanted an additional $700 to fix. Attempted to charge me $415 for a part that was $246 at AutoZone. I would never bring my vehicle back to them although the work they did to my knowledge was ok they aren’t honest and they are just looking to over charge. If you don’t wanna be over charged and lied to stay clear of this establishment

This is by far the worse mechanic I have ever been to. I went in for one problem. I left four other things they needed to fix which included my left and right control arm. I spend over 1000 dollars for those services and shortly after, my car began shaking (a problem I did not have prior). I took it to another mechanic for a second opinion. They revealed to me that my control arm on the right was put on incorrectly which ultimately caused an additional damage to the car. When this was brought to the original mechanics attention, I was met with a defensive tone and no resolution. I ended up having to spend another 600 dollars at a different mechanic to rectify their mistakes. Your money matters especially when you work hard everyday for it. If you want good quality work and good customer service, PLEASE DONT COME HERE!!!

My brother told me to come here when I got my first car. I've never felt Alex or John tried to mansplain anything or do work I didn't need. Once I had a driver-side door rattle and after a free evaluation John said to save my money, there was no danger just a noise I might not like. He said, "I would tell my own sister not to waste money on fixing that." Their team comes from many countries and all smile and say hello. It's a good vibe and an honest business. I've since taken my car here to be re-painted, dents fixed, full tune-up, tires rotated, anything. I cross-check the price with others and they are never undercut, work is always done well and on time. Cannot recommend this place enough especially to first-time car-owners.

I have to mention I worked closely with Alex! I have an old car (very old btw) and I was able to get it serviced. It took a bit to actually fix but overall I was very happy with the service. Any time I called or showed up I received an update. Great customer service, great communication. I will continue to do business at this location and def recommend for any car services.

These guys are the best. Been taking my cars there for years and they are always honest and reasonable. Most recently I took my car to get a repair covered by my warranty and they spent hours on the phone with warranty company to make sure I was reimbursed. Highly recommend!!

I have been to Vanderbilt Auto three times now (a simple part installation, an oil change, and a x4 tire swap) and have experienced good service from Andy who is communicative about any issue and transparent about cost. Cost of labor and servicing seem fair and appropriate for where it is in Brooklyn.

These people are not honest. I came here a few days ago to have my oil changed and when the work was done they parked my car across the street from the shop. When I went to pick up my car the next morning I had a flat tire, I left it parked and walked over to tell them I have a flat. They said it wasn’t their fault and I would have to pay them to fix the flat…. They were the cause of the flat as the parked my car in a hazardous place with glass and trash on the floor. Extremely unprofessional and changed me $50 to replace the tire.

We love bringing our cargo van to John and Alex and their crew! We've had them work on the engine, brakes, electrical, inspections, and most recently some badly needed rust remediation at the back of the floor. Always fair prices and a quick turnaround with good communication. The few times we had a recurring electrical problem, they re-evaluated it and made adjustments without charging us extra. Honest, no-fuss mechanics.

These guys are awesome! We use them for our fleet of Sprinters and they always provide timely and very honest service. They are clear with their communication and are always professional. Don't mind those bad reviews, I'm not sure what people are talking about.
