Davy is absolutely amazing. Was able to get my car fixed within the estimated time he gave me as my household shares 1 car, price is great, I feel confident in him and his team's work, and I always get cheered up seeing Davy always so pumped up. I had my battery replaced by one of those services that come to your home since I couldn’t get it out of the drive. The mechanic told me the brakes were at the end of their life. Having normally taken my old car to Davey at Winston I called and asked him to take a look. Turns out the front brakes still have 80% left and the rear have 70%! And he didn’t charge me a penny to tell me that! This is why you always take your car to a mechanic you trust and I trust Davey.

I took my jeep in due to it shimmying when I would brake at times, I asked that they replace the brakes and rotors. After having it a few hours they called and said that my brakes still had about 60% life, so to change out anything would be a waste of my money and that the shimmying isn't a safety issue. When I picked up my car, they didn't charge me for anything... not even the time they took to diagnose! I will be using Winston's going forward, they are professional and honest. So happy to have found them!

Davey was super accommodating and helpful. My repair was more expensive than I had hoped but they told me that up front. And Davey delivered my car back to me personally. Nice touch. :-) Update Sept 2023. Davey and John to the rescue once again. My daughter has recently started driving and so now Winston Auto has another customer. Davey is the most honest and trusting mechanic in the area. My whole family has been taking their cars to him for over a decade. I have recommended him to countless people. If you have a Honda or a Toyota even better. He has always made sure to go over things with me in a very thorough manner. He never suggests doing maintenance that is not necessary. Sometimes being a female its hard to know if someone is taking advantage of you and this is NOT the case with Winston's. I will never take any of our vehicles anywhere else!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! all the mechanics are good dudes, and they love what they do, the work they do reflects that. Davey is kind, helpful, honest and more than reasonable. Ive been to quite a few shops in the area before I took my car to Winston’s, the first time it was to fix what another shop had messed up and tried to charge me $800 to fix a part that didn’t need to be replaced, Davey looked at my car for 5 minutes and fixed the sound I was hearing that same day seriously a 10/10 shop.

I can’t say enough good things about Davey at Winston’s Auto Repair in Des Moines. After a Kia dealership quoted us over $4,500 to fix my daughter’s sunroof—claiming the motor was dead and the tracks were broken—I brought her car to Davey at Winston’s for a second opinion. In less than an hour, he had it fully fixed for just $85. Davey is honest, trustworthy, genuine, and kind—everything you hope to find in a mechanic but rarely do. He could have easily taken advantage of the situation like the dealership tried to, but instead, he did what was right. He saved us over $4,000 and completely gained our business and trust. Anyone would be smart to give him their business. He has been in business for 26 years for a reason. Winston’s is the kind of auto repair shop you recommend to everyone you know. Thank you Davey!

The owner/operator Davey has been a blessing and knows kindness unlike many in out current times, he's not trying to upsell, he will straight up tell you if you need it done now or if it can wait. He's very respectful to my partner and treats her with respect all things I love but beyond that he also shows your the part(s) the problem and explains to you what's happening to your vehicle which is just the cherry on top, I cannot recommend Winston Auto Repair enough! Highly highly recommended !

I went to a Toyota dealership who informed me that i needed a $9100 new transmission. I decided to get a 2nd opinion. Davi and Jon did a through inspection of my and found out I DONT NEED A TRANSMISSION AND NOTHING WAS WRONG. I can't believe Toyota would try to sell me a transmission when I didn't need one. It’s rare to find a mechanic shop that’s won’t try to scam you. Winston Auto Repairs has earned my trust. The owner Davey is such an amazing genuine guy. He is very knowledgeable and understanding. But most importantly, he cares about everybody who walks through the door. I brought my Range Rover in for a diagnostics. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to pin point the exact issue. Where most shops would still just charge for a diagnostics regardless, Davey and Winston Auto Repairs did not! Such a fair and amazing guy that really does take care of you. What sealed the deal for me was this - this lady car broke down about 2 blocks away. She came running to Winston and the owner Davey literally left his shop to go check out the lady’s car ways down the road. Great guy
