Fantastic staff and amazing prices! The only shop around with integrity. While everyone else is looking to line their pockets with gold at your expense, this shop is a hidden gem doing business the way you would hope everybody did , honest, fair and professional. Thank you Yao for giving me back a little faith in humanity. It's good to know there are still people out there like you and your staff. I don't ever give reviews but I just had to this time. Great service, quick, and very friendly! Recently had my catalytic converter stolen and had to get an aftermarket one put on at a mechanic. One of the people at One Toyota recommended Yao for custom catalytic converter guards (basically steel cable and rear welded onto the whole thing, making a cage) so I called them when I picked my car up and they were able to get me in within 20 minutes. When I left my car there and walked away they called me back and pointed out whoever replaced my cat hadn't put in the mounting bolts so the whole things was hanging a little loose. Thankfully I had the original bolts in my trunk from when the cat was stolen, but they put those bolts in for me no problem. Was very satisfied with the service and the guard cage looks nice and sturdy too!

My catalytic converter was stolen in SF. I didn’t know what to do, so I googled and found Yao Auto Repair. I called them and spoke to Janet who was extremely helpful, friendly, professional and patient. I was just so impressed by her service. And then the job.. wow they did such a great job….! Pricing was fair and they were pretty quick. I appreciated that they even washed my car! (After catalytic converter was stolen, I had my car sitting in my driveway for almost 2 years, so yah, car was a little dirty. Anyways, Janet & the Guys are amazing!!!

I don’t leave many reviews BUT I had to in this situation. I’m working on an old car and needed ALOT of custom exhaust work to accommodate with new transmission and crossmember. Not only did they accommodate but I was able to do it as a walk-in and at a great price!!! Very good work as well!!! Thank you for helping me out! The New Owners are great!!!! I must add other muffler shops in the area turned the job down as it was a lot of work but not this family owned business, THEY DID AMAZING !!!

Yang Auto is located in a pretty risky area of Oakland. I asked the person about going for a walk in their neighborhood—and he discouraged me from doing it. I took my partner’s car in to have a cable welded on to make it more difficult to steal the catalytic converter from his 2010 Prius. Stealing catalytic converters is big business these days – – with the precious metals now worth way more than gold. Thieves are stealing catalytic converter’s here in Oakland, and all over the US. We have been reading about the quick removal of catalytic converter’s all over Oakland – – usually in the middle of the night. Sometimes they even remove them in a parking lot in the middle of the day. And it happens very quickly. Next thing you know—your car doesn’t have a catalytic converter. It’s better to protect your catalytic converter, instead of having to replace it which can be $3000 or so. Sandman’s shop installs range from $250-$800 to protect your catalyst converter. We were able to get steel cables welded on to the our Prius for $180. It’s the best price we’ve seen. The hope is that if someone goes to steal the catalytic converter, they will see that it’s not worth their while and they will move onto the next car. So, we went to Yang Auto Repair because they have the best price that we’ve seen to protect a catalytic converter.

Brought my old Chevy I heard a crazy rattle mid-truck under the undercarriage. Turns out it was the Catalytic converter. We changed that and made some corrections to issues with exhaust hangers I had and a heat riser. They did a great job. My car has power again and I never had an issue passing smog but this year we are doing better. The price was great for labor and this is a specialized trade so not only is the price good but you aren’t going to find a muffler shop that gives you an honest rate. I am a happy customer.

Honestly 10/10 no notes. Showed up, no appointment on a Tuesday morning with my ‘65 Corvair that I knew had an exhaust leak. I couldn’t detriment where. Got an honest assessment that it was the crossover pipe gaskets and a shot muffler. I was like great I can go order the parts and bring them back but, with a few parts orders and a muffler magically on hand I was in & out in 3 hours for something that would have been double elsewhere. You got exhaust issues and you’re in the Bay? This is your place.
