Guy, the Z Doctor, finally got me in and the result is awesome! I've never had a Datsun 620, who I call Homer Datsun, run this well and I've owned a total of five. The work Guy completed was to remove all choke point emissions then installed a Weber Carb, new intake manifold, ceramic coated header and new exhaust. Homer Datsun runs like a champ! There was only one issue but it was completely out of the Z Doctor's hands. On my way home from picking up the truck, the throttle cable got a little sticky and I had to turn the vehicle off. I called Guy and he closed his shop and drove to where I was stranded. That IS what customer service is all about! I highly recommend the Z Doctor. Thanks Guy!

Such a great atmosphere from the moment you walk in the shop, and always very graciously welcomed by the Z Doctor. He is a very knowledgeable and a very humble guy, it makes it hard not to stay at the shop for hours and talk about various projects he has. I have owned my Z for a little over 4 years and do to the fact I was in high school I wasn’t making a lot of money. The owner made it a mission to do everything he could to help me with anything I needed, whether it was supplying me with quality parts or walking me through step by step how to do things on my car! Needless to say, my Z would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for the Z Doctor. Very thankful for this business!

Not knowing of any shops specifically working on Z Cars, I Googled some key words and the Z Doctor came up in Garden City ID. Being in Oregon, It was quite a drive away, but since our kids live in Boise, I figured we would check this shop out on one of our visits. Man am I glad I took a leap of faith. Guy Pumpelly, on that first visit to his shop immediately was welcoming and made sure I never felt like an idiot not being a car repair person myself, in fact I know very little about cars inside or out. I definitely have a "project car" that needs a ton of work. I have the worst mouse issue with every nook and cranny having a full nest with the associated excrement. I asked Guy about doing as much of the non-technical work as I can and he actually encouraged me to do so as my time was much cheaper than paying his professional time. 2 months since that visit, Guy has responded to so many emails from me with questions on how to do this or that on the car. He had very good and right on suggestions to solve the problem at hand. I have not paid Guy anything at this point, although he could charge a consulting fee, but he doesn't, that's not his style. He knows he will eventually have my car in his shop for the majority of the restoration at some point. Guy has a customer service you rarely find anymore. As a business owner myself, Its easy to see that Guy "Gets it". Awesome shop and my car isn't even there yet.

I have owned my 1971 240Z since 1975. Fortunately, i have not had anything too major to fix on it. I have had my share of mechanics who say they can work on the Z. I decided to finally take some TLC on the car because it is a '71. I went to the Z doctor and now know it is the only place to take a Z. The service went well beyond expectations. Guy knows and loves the Z line. My car runs great. Guy stayed with the project until he was satisfied and I was satisfied with the results.

Any "big box" brand mechanic can fix your car but they'll overcharge you, upsell you on things you don't need and take advantage of the fact that you don't have a vast knowledge of cars. I've been going to Guy for close to a decade and it has been the best decision that I could have made when it comes to car maintenance. Guy is personable, educational, honest, hard-working, and to top it all off he's reliable. Guy will never overcharge you or try and sell you something that you don't need. Guy is genuinely the best mechanic in the valley, regardless of what kind of car you bring to him. He's made my Subaru like new while keeping the cost affordable. Guy's gone out of his way to help me and that's just not something that you'll see at any other shop. Guy is the exact person that you want working on your car!

If you have a Datsun Z car, this IS your guy. He can also help you with Roadsters (1600 & 2000) and probably any other Datsun. He is versatile and easy to deal with. Reasonable price and quality work.

My daughter’s 350 Z had some mechanical issues. She has used several local mechanics with not much luck. After finding the Z Doctor she will never go anywhere else. He is honest, which unfortunately is hard to find these days, sends updates with pictures and explanations of what he is doing. But the best thing about guy is his knowledge of Nissan vehicles, her Z has never run better. He is a super nice guy and we are so happy we found him.

Z Doctor is where you want to go to get your car fixed AND not have to pay extra for things you don't need. Guy is honest and will not oversell or take advantage of you. He's fixed a few of my cars and always does a great job. Another shop just tried to charge me $1300 for something I didn't need, and Guy had everything done for significantly less. Cannot recommend Z Doctor enough.

I called the Z Doctor to discuss some refresh items for my 1977 280Z from Colorado. He thoroughly reviewed my punch list and laid out great advice on what makes sense, what can be done, and what to rethink. I had several conversations with Guy, and he proved repeatedly his vast and robust knowledge of the Z car, which he shares generously with others. Time constraints kept me from bringing my Z in for work, but Guy put me on the correct path with confidence. Guy embodies the kind of dedication and integrity we need more of in the world. I found my 1972 Datsun 240z in Eagle in 2011 and soon after found about The Z Doctor through word of mouth. After taking my 240z car to Guy he shared things about the Z cars, and my car that I only wished that knew before I purchased mine. The car only had 22,000 original miles but it had also been in a collision that lead me to find another donor car to place this low mileage drivetarin in. Guy performed all the work and has been my only mechanic that I trust will take the absolute best care of it since that time. Guy knows these Z cars inside and out. Guy even has spare parts if needed, or can help locate them. He has helped me over the years from total surgery to adding an after market A/C unit (works great), new stereo and speakers, sound dampening materials in the doors (a must do), along with suspension upgrades, mics fixes, as well as general maintenance. To tell you the truth the list is much more than that but if you need any work done to your Z car don't go anywhere else. Guy knows these cars and cares about his clients. Guy at the Z Doctor is by far the best mechanic I have had the pleasure of working with over the years and I have owned 50 plus cars. Highly knowledgeable and very fair with pricing. He knows datsun 240z inside and out. It really pays to bring it to someone that has his experience, it saves thousands getting it right the first time. He has gone out of his way to help bring my Z car back to life often not even billing for some of the work. He is more than happy to help with answering questions and helping source parts. He treats you like a beloved family member. If you have a datsun Z car make sure to bring it to the Z Doctor I highly recommend it!

I recently fell in love with an abandoned ‘79 280zx at my general mechanic’s yard. It wasn’t running and had weeds growing over the side. There was just something about it though. I fell in love at first sight and knew I had to have the car. Little did I know one of the best Z mechanics in the country was only 20 minutes from me! (People ship their cars to guy from all over the country to have him restore) Well I bought the car and got it running (terribly albeit) and it would limp along and die after 5-10 minutes. After 3 different mechanics recommended the Z Doctor for this car I took it in for his 3 hr tuneup/ Valve adjustment service. He also helped me get some lock cylinders rebuilt and keyed alike. Response time was slow for the first week as Guy was pre occupied with a couple other projects. Once he got to my car though I was blown away with his level of attention and service. I work at a service center with over 25 technicians on a daily basis. I’ve found that most tech’s bill flat rate and bill as many hours as possible in the least amount of time. Our most efficient techs can bill as much as 20 hrs in a day. Guy (The Z Doctor) is the first mechanic I’ve worked with who I feel works MORE time than he’s actually billing for (or at least works every minute of time billed). In my opinion the value far exceeded the price. Due to his personal connections Guy was able to source a near perfect condition original gas tank for my car and didn’t even charge extra for the drive and to pull the part from the donor. He also went above and beyond cleaning 40+ years of grime off the engine and fixing some of my other mistakes (improperly rated fuel lines etc) while he was in there. His sourcing alone probably saved me over $500, tons of research and time. Plus now my car sounds like a proper sports car and is so much more responsive. Overall, I highly recommend the Z Doctor. Just be patient with your timeline and trust his guidance and you’ll be extremely satisfied.
