I have come here repeatedly with my Saturn and Tahoe and have exemplary service, from easy stuff I probably could have done myself with a YouTube video and a toolkit to stuff a specialist should do. The anti-dealership experience. I’ve never felt compelled to write a review before but these guys are extraordinarily competent, honest, and fair. I have never been upsold or given a repair I haven’t needed. They’ve told me of fixes covered under recalls when they could have just charged me for the repair and sent me on my way. Support a local business and a couple of great guys who do good, upstanding work.

He was closing for the Christmas weekend. The garage gate was being locked. I asked for just 5 minutes. He had his daughters in the car ready to leave... and, yet, he helped me. He took no payment to inspect and reccomend and reassure me that I could travel without worry. This guy, the owner of 1701, is the BEST. He is what an honest mechanic -- a respected human -- should be. Go there and be impressed and humbled.

Such a wonderful and amazing team here. We have taken our car for a couple of oil changes here now and I am so glad I found this mechanic. They are honest, reasonably priced and very responsive. The three times we have taken it in (2 oil changes and one diagnostic check for our battery), they have always squeezed us in that same very day. I also have gotten some useful advice from Malcolm regarding purchasing a used car- he gave me some good tips. Such a rare find, and that's on an international scale too. This mechanic is a long term keeper. I highly recommend!

I've been coming here for years now and have always had a great experience. They've never overcharged me or tried to upsell me on something I didn't need, and have listened to and resolved every issue I've had with my car. When I had a small puncture in one of my tires, they plugged it up for free! One time, they quoted me $80 for some service which I thought was a fair price. When they actually fixed up my car, the total ended up being less, at just $50. They could've charged me the full $80 and I would've never noticed or complained but they're just really honest, lovely people. I actually used to live in Alameda when I first started coming here years ago, and have since moved to San Francisco but I just make the trip back out here every half year or so for all my car work because I can't imagine finding a better mechanic!

Malcolm, Sebastian and team are worth their weight in gold. I met them when they opened their shop maybe in 2014 and I lived down the street. Now we live in oakland and I drive 20-30 min to their shop because they are that good. Great auto care. Honest and extremely fair prices. Personable and friendly. I'll never go elsewhere. I love these guys. Their prices are good, service is great, they're very flexible, easy to make an appointment, very no-nonsense. I've been twice now. The first time was for an oil change and general tune-up. They charged me less than the dealership, and they were able to take care of a tiny piece of body work I needed and didn't charge me extra for it! They were also proactive, but not pushy, in letting me know that I needed new tires in the front. Today I went back to get those new tires on. Same excellent, friendly, quick service. Highly recommend!
