I’m going to preface this with I am a mechanic and the only reason I came here is because I had just moved to MI and did not have access to my own lift. This was the first time I ever let someone else work on my car. Let’s break it down. The mechanic couldn’t get my wheel lock off so he broke it in half and didn’t say anything despite me having the key there. They hoped I wouldn’t notice. What really pisses me off is they didn’t say anything. I asked for OEM seals only specifically the rear main.(this is common sense) They used fel pro and everything leaked afterwards. They had to redo it. They also spray painted the cork transmission pan gasket, you don’t spray paint gaskets. That’s something you expect from a child. It is leaking now. Every single surface of my car was covered with oil inside and out when I picked it up. I was in a suit too since I had a meeting so that was great. It’s now 16 months later and my transmission has failed. I called the shop to talk about it and the owner told me words verbatim. “It doesn’t help me to help you”. Well dude my $3000 I paid you, helped you. If it was my work I would have warrantied it or at least covered labor, but not all mechanics care about integrity. Do yourself a favor and find a different shop.

Had my transmission bust and this was one of the only places I could find that would rebuild it rather than replace it with another. They checked it out and gave me a free estimate. The price was good and the work was done fast. On top of that, the workers are really nice and friendly and they make sure to keep you updated while your car is in the shop. 5/5, would recommend.

Excellent place, very friendly staff and they are knowledgable. They took care of my transmission and even got the price down to a fraction of the orignal cost due to my fiance being a marine vet. We had a leak in the transmission, they told us to bring it back and they would fix it again under warranty since they had just finished the truck not to long ago. My truck was there for a day when they said it was ready to be picked up free of charge. They had replaced a gasket that got messed up while they were fixing it the first time. No big deal really, I mean we are human and the corrected theproblem hassle free and very effieciently.

*Update to business response* Your response is a complete lie, I absolutely did not chose the wrong location, the location is Madison Heights, John R road. Beware. Nearly cost me thousands. I left my car with A1 Transmission for THREE days, and what I got back was nothing short of a scam attempt. They told me my transmission fluid was “burnt with metal shavings” and pushed me to authorize a full transmission drop to diagnose “internal damage.” Thank goodness I trusted my instincts and didn’t agree. A second opinion proved every single thing they told me was false. My transmission is perfectly fine. The real issue? A mismatched tire size causing AWD confusion. A simple fix. If I had believed A1 Transmission, I would’ve been thousands of dollars in debt for a repair I never needed. This experience was stressful, misleading, and dangerous for any unsuspecting customer. Do NOT take your vehicle here unless you want unnecessary repairs pushed on you. Extremely disappointed and relieved I didn’t fall for it.

I bought a Cadillac CT6 from the auction, tranny was jerking all over the place. This particular tranny was involved in a GM class action lawsuit, there in 4 different GM platforms. I'm also a mechanic, I called and talked to the owner just to see where his head was at on this issue. He is very knowledgeable and a good person. They rebuilt the tranny in a timely manner, I have put on 25k miles on it and it shifts better then a brand new stock transmission, effortless. He gave me a year warranty and even extended it. It showed that he is confident in his work. I wanted to put some miles on it before I left a review. There a busy shop and for good reason take your car here there A1. Thanks Guys

About two weeks ago, my son was gifted a used 2017 Cadillac ATS with 105K miles. We took this car to be inspected by A1. They spent a good amount of time inspecting car. So although they offered the bumper-to-bumper inspection for free, I offered to pay for their time because I wanted to get a second opinion. He was reluctant to charge for the inspection so we made a deal that if the car was brought back in for service that they would deduct that amount. Well, the Caddy came in today to be serviced and A1 honored their deal. We will continue to go to them.

Dave was very professional and easy to work with. I was under a fairly tight time window for all the work they had to do, and, they delivered. It even ended up getting done 1.5 days ahead of schedule. I got a chance to visit with Mike (mechanic) on the post auto repair work test drive. He was very friendly and we had a great conversation about auto repairs in general and on a few of the specific repairs he did on my truck. He even added air to all of my tires before the test drive as they were a little low. A1's prices were very fair as well. This was my first visit to this auto repair shop, however, it won't be my last. Thank you Dave and your mechanics for providing a really great auto service.

FALSE ADVERTISING. Where do I start. “My name is Dave and I claim to benefit your vehicle.” After multiple reassurances that my vehicle would be taken care of, the opposite happened. PLEASE ADVISE OWNER. I was disrespected, neglected, and made to look elsewhere, because of the awful service I received. My vehicle was needing a new transmission. I was advised by your manager DAVE said I should fix it no matter what, or else. I advised, I was not in the position for the repair, yet he pushed and pulled to make that repair. I received a call every day, for weeks about a vehicle I wasn’t sure about repair, despite weeks of telling him it’s not worth the repair. I reminded him I don’t have the curren$y to do so. He called and pushed multiple times daily to make the sale (I can provide screen shots). Weeks later, I’m facing a $450 replacement fee, and afterwards DAVE promised a $4000 transmission repair replacement. I agree, because he promised business as usual. I advised due to my situation that he would “work it out” that I can’t pay anything extensive and that he worked it out with the owner and some sort of 3rd party transmission program. Fast forward, business wasn’t as usual, as the trans repair program was faulty, and requires all recipients pay for such trans in 90 days. Otherwise they’re hit with a massive interest. $4000 turned into $6500. If the OWNER and anyone is reading, please advise. This poor excuse of a company will rob you, and then short you to your last penny. Secondly, the manager DAVE is a fraud, and will bank on everyone moving forward with their repair. My phone call with DAVE was inappropriate, unprofessional, sad, and frankly pathetic of a manager who promised to fix my vehicle. I PRAY that anyone who reads this stays away from this clown.
