I had to bring my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac in to have the transmission repaired. Frank was very courteous and explained the inspection process thoroughly. I love that they don't charge an inspection fee like every other shop I researched. Within a day I received a call with the damage report. They gave me the following options: a replacement, which they said was too expensive and not worth the money (what mechanic does that?); a repair, which wouldn't guarantee other failures in the transmission; or a rebuild. After conferring with a fleet mechanic friend of mine on the potential labor and parts costs, I chose the repair. They quoted me a fair price and completed the job on time. I highly recommend this shop for transmission and general repair. The owner and staff know what they are talking about and are very friendly. All the stars in my opinion! -RM

Dropped off vehicle for inspection and estimate at 8am. They said it would be checked out before noon. Waited until 130pm to pick up car. Mgr said he had not called me yet but released keys. He agreed to call me before 5pm to provide an estimate. He didn't. I waited a few weeks hoping he would call. No response. I called 2 weeks later. He couldn't find my paperwork supposedly. He said I had to take it in again for an estimate. I told him I couldn't miss work again. They either never inspected the vehicle (eventhough it was parked in a different space when I picked it up) or just poor management. It's a clear sign not to do business with AAMCO-- at least at this location. Poor customer service!

This is specific to the Downey location. I do not recommend taking your vehicle to this location. I took my truck to this location for a repair due under warranty amd they refused to honor the warranty. I made an appointment, I handed my paperwork to the lady and she looked us up and down, glanced at our paperwork, took our paperwork to a man working behind an open window area and they both told us they wouldn't work on our truck, even though we have a nationwide warranty. Without looking at our paperwork any further than our address we were told to 'go back to our neighborhood ' to get serviced. Our truck broke down and was originally serviced is a different location than where we live. This location told us we had to drive our truck with a damaged transmission thats under warranty to a different location further away which will result in more damage. Horrible way to be treated after spending thousands of dollars. After the owner was made aware of this interaction the lady and man are saying that they weren't rude or racist but we were there less than 3 minutes and we were refused service. If there are cameras the owner can tell by the body language alone, if there is no audio, that his employees 100 % mistreated honest customers.

I’m very pleased with the work and customer service of this shop and the people running it! Brought my family vehicle here to get my transmission rebuilt in the past, unfortunately had trouble with my engine recently.. got quotes from different places and recommendations from people I trust to sell the vehicle or fix it? Thing is, like so many of us, we work too damn hard for our vehicle to just let them go.. so I decided to keep/invest in it and I’m so happy I decided to keep it and feeling hopeful to keep on running this beautiful piece of machinery for years to come 🏁To me it’s the miles of memories we put into our vehicles that make a vehicle worth keeping. worst AAMCO I ever went to, couldn't fix a transmission right I had a 4x4 they told me it was ready I drove it home it started smoking and wouldnt move, they told me to tow it back and my expense !!!!!!, they screw up and I have to tow it then when we got it there took two weeks to get back and the low 4 gear still didn't work.. I AM WARNING EVERYONE DO NOT TAKE IT TO THIS AAMCO, worst ones ever !!!
