I took my car to AAMCO for some transmission issues and wasn't sure if fixing it would be worth it due to its age. Sammy inspected my car and provided a clear and detailed explanation of the issues. He was incredibly honest and trustworthy about what needed to be fixed and gave me plenty of time to decide if it was worth the cost. Ultimately, I decided not to move forward with the repairs because of the car's age and other underlying problems. Sammy was very understanding and didn't charge me for all the tests and time he spent diagnosing the issues. I truly appreciate his honesty, kindness, and the fact that he didn't pressure me into spending money unnecessarily. It’s rare to find such trustworthy service! If I need work done on a future car, I’ll definitely bring it to AAMCO and Sammy. Highly recommend!

I came to AAMCO to have someone check out a grinding noise which I thought came from the transmission. In the end, it turned out to be something else, so I didn't get the repairs done here. But everyone was very friendly and also honest, which I appreciate a lot.

These guys are great! We at Pinellas County Electric are very pleased with the new rebuilt transmission. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I feel like they had jet packs on to make the job go even quicker.

I had a great experience with AAMCO, especially thanks to Sam. I recently brought in my daughter's 2008 Mazda 3 to have it checked out after the transmission light came on. Knowing she was planning to buy a new car soon, we didn’t want to sink too much money into repairs. After inspecting the vehicle, Sam was upfront and honest—he let us know that the cost of repairs would likely outweigh the value of putting that money toward a new car. I truly appreciated the honesty and integrity from this shop. It made a tough decision much easier. I’ll absolutely return to AAMCO for any future transmission needs. Highly recommended!

I had my trans rebuilt a while back by them and was not satisfied. I paid for them to replace the rear main seal as well but they never did replace it. They rebuilt the transmission but didn’t clean the trans case or the transfer case which is rule #1 on a rebuild.

Beware of Aamco in Clearwater, Hwy 19: I took my 1993 Mazda MX3 to Aamco for a transmission rebuild, hoping to extend its life. What followed was a year-long nightmare of misdiagnoses, unfulfilled promises, and ultimately, fraud. Aamco charged me nearly $3,200 for the rebuild, promising a smooth-shifting car. Instead, the transmission remained clunky and occasionally wouldn't engage at all. My repeated calls were met with shrugs and assurances that "everything was fine." Months later, after multiple trips back and forth, another mechanic confirmed my worst fears: Aamco never rebuilt the transmission. They simply took my money and lied. Proving this was a struggle. Thankfully, Mazda and another mechanic documented the untouched transmission with photos and videos. Aamco only admitted their fraud after being confronted with this evidence. Even then, my ordeal wasn't over. The "repaired" transmission developed a leak, and Aamco's "fix" was shoddy at best. While Aamco reimbursed me for the diagnostics and offered a warranty, the experience left me shaken and distrustful. My car may be running now, but I wouldn't recommend Aamco to anyone. Save yourself the stress and avoid this dishonest business.

I brought my 1993 Mazda MX3 to Aamco in Clearwater on Hwy 19 for a transmission rebuild. With over 140,000 miles on the car, it was time for this essential maintenance. Initially, Aamco quoted a range of $2,600 to $3,200 for the rebuild. After a week in their care, I picked up the car for the final cost of $3,199.63. Although pleased initially, I noticed the car was shifting hard. Aamco reassured me that it was normal for a newly rebuilt transmission. However, the shifting issues persisted, and occasionally gears wouldn't engage. Despite being within the 18-month, 18,000-mile warranty, Aamco insisted nothing was wrong after multiple checks. Suspicious, I sought a second opinion from Westshore Mazda, revealing that my transmission was never rebuilt. Pro Care confirmed the need for a transmission redo. Confronting Aamco with evidence from Mazda and Pro Care, they admitted to fraud. Aamco rectified the issue, reimbursing us for diagnostic fees and providing a 3-year unlimited mile warranty. Unfortunately, the ordeal didn't end there. Aamco's faulty reinstallation led to a loose transmission bolt and a muffler leak. Pro Care estimated the muffler repair at $175.55. Aamco covered this cost upon our return. Despite Aamco's claims of a stellar BBB rating, they only had 2 one-star reviews, and the business is not BBB accredited. Be cautious when considering Aamco for your automotive needs

Owner will walk around all day with a phone to his ear like hes on the phone. Also makes you pay for a brand new transmission when he puts a junk yard unit in it. Or makes you pay for a full rebuild and only cleans the transmission fluid.

The WORSE mechanic experience EVER- lie after lie, for a year! They held my truck from December 2024 to Feb 14th 2025 - paid in full. Fast forward; I BROKE DOWN 300 miles away, in June 2025! Paid insane money to have vehicle towed to their shop, after they refused to help (thanks Mark). I JUST got my vehicle back November 2025. I've spent thousands on alternate transportation (rental vehicles, uber, etc.), took my sons out of football, changed their school form private to public, because Sam decided we were not important and help my vehicle for an entire year to repair a transmission, at a transmission shop, AND my truck is still Not Driving as it should! It's not over.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with AAMCO! From start to finish, the service was professional, honest, and fast. Sammy went above and beyond to make sure I understood exactly what was going on with my vehicle. He explained everything clearly, gave me fair options, and treated me with the kind of respect you don’t always find at repair shops. The team diagnosed my transmission issue quickly and had me back on the road sooner than I expected. Pricing was transparent, and I never once felt pressured into unnecessary repairs. Sammy’s customer service really stood out—he checked in with me throughout the process and made sure I left feeling confident about the work that was done. If you’re looking for trustworthy, reliable, and knowledgeable transmission service, I highly recommend this AAMCO location. Ask for Sammy—you’ll be glad you did!

The store and the people who work there are amazing. Especially Sammy (sorry if I misspelled). He works with you and lays everything down so you dont get blind sided. And unfortunately I was not able to problem fix at no fault to the store, they still worked with me and helped me out as best as they can. Definitely a store worth your time and worth your money.

Brittany Whightsel Local Guide·5 reviews·55 photos just now New So these kind men at this shop not only towed my truck from another shop, fixed my truck with missing parts. Not letting me worry about those missing parts was a peace of mind. really went above and beyond to get me back on the road at a reasonable price! To show my appreciation I bought them Publix subs.

I took my van to this dealer 7 weeks ago for a free estimate about a transmission problem. I still don't have my vehicle back and no idea when it will be done? I have been given many excuses about part delays and some other problem. At this point I am not even sur there was anything wrong with the transmission as they seem to be hung up on this other problem they say may have caused the transmission problem. A couple times they told me I could pick up the van because it was done, but they are still working on it and it has been two weeks since I last heard from them? Estimated repair is $6000.00! Been dealing with Sammy. Bernie

We had a Lexus 2008 reviewed to find any issues in the Transmission as we bought this car recently. Sammy Minosh Jr reviewed this vehicle and gave a response within a few hours. His courteous service and professionalism are extraordinary and we would be happy to recommend our friends to Aamco.

AAMCO was recommended to me after my car broke down and we thought it might be a transmission problem. I had my car towed to them on a Sunday in the hopes they might be able to look at it some time on Monday. When I called that morning, Stanley reassured me & told me it would be looked at that morning! He took the time to ask alot of questions to understand what the problem might be. He called me back to tell me it wasn't the transmission but throttle issues which they don't do at Aamco but he quickly suggested a garage nearby that could help and even offered to drive the car over for me as it is next door. If that isn't great customer service, I don't know what it is! I am grateful I found Aamco and will now be a loyal customer!

Entire staff was awesome. Amazing experience! Sammy who helped me was incredibly informative and great from start to finish. Very upfront and honest during the entire process, never once got a bad vibe from anyone! He told me exactly what I needed and gave me expert advice! Even gave me a free estimate! Was told it would take 2 hours to look it over and they were done in almost half that time! Would highly recommend if you are looking for someone trustworthy!

Blessed to have these folks serving our community with fair pricing, reliable communication, and quality parts. Sam, Sammy, and Mark are great people and provide top notch service. They've built my tranny in my classic K10 and my 10 speed in my Tahoe. It doesn't surprise me why they are always busy. Would give them 6 stars if I could.
