Worse experience I have ever had with a shop. Charlie, if you can help in anyway, please do. My son is in school in San Antonio and brought in my car and had an oil pan gasket changed. I Paid for it $450. During the removal of the oil pan, my motor mounts were broken and then had to be replaced. They may have been wore out, but not broken when brought in. Rudy ordered new mounts and installed. I paid it too $350. Drove the car and it was vibrating like crazy. Took it back and Rudy says that Napa sent them the wrong one. Reordered new ones, they re-installed, and still vibrating. It's been over 3 weeks and my car is still not running right. Rudy continues to put me on hold when I call and then just hangs up. I have lost confidence in the staff. My car is there right now. Brought in the car 2/17/18 and today's date is 4/12/18. 2006 Black Acura TSX. Go look for yourself. My son has lost time and $$ having to use uber and taxi to travel every where. Please help!!! 4/24/18...Update to this!! So after all this time and money, my car is still vibrating from an oil pan gasket replacement. All of the my mounts have been replaced for no reason and it was supposed to fix it all. This is what Rudy had say "take it to another shop and if they find that it is our fault, then we will refund your $". What??? the car wasn't vibrating before and so it wasn't your fault?? I think you guys need to refund me the mount job and I'll take my car somewhere else!! I paid for it and not satisfied with the work. Please contact me to settle this.... 5/1/18, Something else I forgot to mentioned....the check engine and vsa (vehicle stability) light was on too when the car was picked up. Called Rudy and all he had to say was that he was embarrassed and knew of the issue, but had no answers for it. Started making excuses. None of these lights were on when brought in. Still no one has even attempted to contact me or my son to resolve this. 5/16/17.....funny how their website claims to understand that they value our hard earned money and guarantee 100% satisfaction, but still have not even tried to address my legitimate issue. I've been very patient with these folks and have not even been ugly with them. Just want them to take responsibility. 8/13/18 - so I see that the owner is now responding to these reviews, but will not comment on mine. People.... lesson to learn, do not pay for any work done to your cars until you are totally satisfied!!! And do not bring your cars to this place.

I have been working with the new owner for the better part of a decade, and have followed him from his former shop where he was an employee, to AARCO, where he is the owner. I have had several work vehicles that he has maintained for me, including a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, and a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500. As a small business owner, my vehicle is essential for work, and he has kept me on the road and in business. He is always there to help, and has provided me with honestly, excellent service and a good value. I have read through many of the other poor reviews, and they have all occurred "PRIOR" to his acquisition of the shop. I hope that this review helps to give potential new customers the peace-of-mind needed to use AARCO for their vehicle repairs and maintenance.

We used AARCO Transmission and Car Repair many years ago, paying half the price that the dealer quoted (about $2,000 rather than $4,000) to replace the transmission in our Honda Odyssey. We had no problems with the repairs they did, or the service being friendly, professional, and delivered on time. That’s why, when another Honda dealer told me recently that they could change four ignition coils on my 2007 Honda Fit for $978, I called Rudy at AARCO. He said that he would have to run a diagnostics test himself AND would do so at NO COST, and if that was the problem, he would replace them for $578. I took my car there and left it overnight. He called me first thing in the morning to say that there was, in fact, misfiring with all of the coils (he even showed me what the diagnostics results were), and that the sparks plugs had been damaged by the failing coils. He said that he would change the coils, replace all the spark plugs, AND he recommended a fuel injection treatment, all of which he would do for LESS THAN THE ORIGINAL QUOTED PRICE - $550. (The dealer had said the plugs were fine.) Rudy actually lowered the price and did additional work. I gave him the go-ahead, and the car was done in 3 hours. They also always check and fill tires, and top off all fluids. My car is 10 years old and feels like it has been reborn. I introduce my sons to Rudy and recommended they use him for all their engine repair needs. One other great thing about AARCO, is that they are a NAPA-approved company. I am going on a long trip, and if anything goes wrong, I can take it to any other NAPA company anywhere and the warranty will be honored. I recommend that everyone do their homework when being quoted prices on auto repairs, especially if you are a woman like me. Find out whether there will be a charge for diagnostics, what the parts cost (call a parts place), whether they are rebuilt or new parts, and what the labor costs are, to be assured you are getting a fair deal. If you don't do this, shops may try to make more money if they can. You should also let the shop know that you plan to get another opinion as well, and do so if you have any doubts whether the work needs to be done.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! After paying $500+ for a transmission diagnostic they suggested $2700 worth of upgrades to my transmission on a Mazda Tribute, after I declined the service and requested them to reassemble my transmission they stated they couldn't do so without full payment 1st before the job was finished and it would be ready the next day. It took them TWO WHOLE WEEKS reassemble my transmission and whenever I would call for an update they would simply say "We'll call you when its ready" or they would say "We'll call back" and never would.

I took my car to two different places and they made me buy parts I didn't even need and that didn't fix the problem. Finally took it to Aarco and guess what? They told me what was wrong and fixed it and I finally paid for what was actually wrong.😊😊. And Ashly was very understanding about my financial situation. Thank you Aarco it's nice to finally have my car back and running.💪💪👍👍👍 I would recommend this shop to anyone who doesn't want to pay for things they don't need

The service here really sucks they are rude and try to screw you out your money. The lady is slow and if you ask her a question you will not get a straight answer from her. My husband got a new transmission from here in January and his check engine light has been on since then everytime we take it up there they find something else wrong but the light never goes off. So not sure if the transmission is good at all. They have me set up on a payment plan which i do appreciate but the lady that takes the payment has no customer service skills at all. You ask her a question and she starts to stutter and gets nervous. The service has gotten worst in the past 2 years because I would have recommended this place to anyone before but not today. I still have not gotten a break down of what I own beacuse everytime I ask Ashley she can't expalin it to me. I do not have a problen paying for the engine I have asked for the milage on theat and was told there was no way I would know for sure. My car has been up there and it runs way worst then it did wen i took it. I took it up there for an oil change and left with a 400 bill i asked Ashley and she did not know anything. She looked me in my face and lied to me and tried to cover it up by using an outside company and when I asked her why it was so much she said she did not know. So like i told her wen i was about to make my payment tell me my balance and i will pay.

The staff at Aarco Transmission were wonderful. I was stranded in San Antonio due to my transmission going out on my way home from the airport. After having a wrecker take my car to the shop the owner took me back to the airport so I could get a rental and get home. They went above and beyond to help me and ensured my car was fixed right. I was on vacation in San Antonio when my transmission quit working, hotel recommended AARCO, it was near 5:00 pm, spoke with Rudy, (great guy) in less than 20 minutes tow truck arrived, next day I explained I was a tourist and need help any extra day will cost me hotel and a car rental, he was very helpful put my truck ahead of other vehicles had the estimate in a few ours next day, even that place closes at 6.00 pm I had my truck back at 7:15 pm even Rudy said to me "Please call me when you get back home to make sure you got back home safe" . They did an excellent job and transmission is working perfect. Thank you Rudy and the mechanics at AARCO.

Absolutely Disgusted. Always read the reviews people. I was actually recommended this place and know someone that works there. He has done nothing wrong by the way. Was told by Rudy that my car would be picked up this morning. Missed a day at work and called to see if someone was coming. I was told yes. Nobody ever came, I never received even a courtesy call or anything. Basically left stranded. So now I have to start looking again. I lost a work day and God forbid, I'll be losing more days. So, thank you Aarco for showing me that my business isn't wanted

I would not recommend. Rudy will make it seem as if he cares and as if it is in the best interest of the customer. I'm sure I'm not the only one thisthas happened to and I'm sure many can relate to what I'm about to share. Aarco transmission repair specialist. I was to get a upgraded rebuilt transmission and walked me to the back to see what was the finding on transmission and so they had it 2months and we get it back there is a door panel loose on driver side. Transmission he stated would feel a little ruff while it was working into transition of repairs. Needless to say THAT was NOT the CASE. When I tried to take back for repairs out of warranty ect...ect..later came to find out after having it checked out and following up with the original owner of the truck in which I purchased it . He had never changed out the transmission. So come to find out they switched our transmission and did modifications to my truck and blew the board that I had to pay for 4,500 later...I must get a new transmission...in which I should have for that price!! Don't fall in the trap!!

This company went above and beyond what any other service company has done for me. My truck started clicking when accelerating and Google said take it in immediately. So I don’t live in San Antonio and I picked them because they were the closest. This was after a month long camping vacation by myself with my two dogs and 33 foot long camper! I called and Dennis answered and went to the extreme to come and find me and then lead the way back to the shop. Dennis found a Campground for us to stay at while they worked on my truck. Offering to take me to get groceries or anything I might need. They Got me back on the road as soon as possible and for that I’m very grateful. I would say damsel in distress, but I’m female and over 63!

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE they’ve had my car since 31 March 2020 and told me my car will be done by 4 April 2020(After calling them multiple times to check on the status). Throughout the waiting period they never called me to keep me updated I had to keep contacting them! Then 4 April comes and they said my car won’t be ready until 6 April. It is 6 April and they have yet to call me to tell me my car is ready for pick up. I called, left a voicemail on the salesman’s phone, sent a text and an email and still no reply. They are very unprofessional! Would give them 0/10 if I could! (Review wrote on Yelp when it happened) we have the car now and it’s still acting up. The service is horrible and they have no professionalism.

We called this shop and they sent a tow truck to pick up our vehicle. They did a diagnosis and told us about possible repair. Shop manager Rudy told us what was wrong with vehicle transmission in a timely manner. He and the shop gave us several different options on fixing the problem and also gave us cost or repairs. We made an agreement and about a week later we had our car back and running. Would definitely recommend.

Just picked up my car after leaving it to evacuate and charge the AC system and its ice cold. I had originally asked to just do the basic service but Richard found that the pressure was too high to just vacuum so he did a recovery service which should've been more expensive but they only charged me the original price agreed on. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone for AC, transmission or any other service they can do. Much thanks to Richard, Rudy and Aarco Transmission in general. I was given great service and the car was ready sooner than I thought.

These guys first misdiagnosed my car charging over $200 to reprogram the computer. A week later I went back, then they said something in the transmission, won't know till we get in there ( 7 yr old car). I signed the paperwork that was explained JUST for the cost of the dismantle and diagnosis of my transmission. When I came back, it needed a full rebuild and cost 2,700 out the door. I said I need some time to see if I can even pay this. I later came back and the work was already completed and they wanted their money. We agreed on 500 a month. The second month I was 10 days late, and the rude arrogant charlie yelled he wanted the full payment by Friday or it was theirs. I just couldn't make it, so overall I was out just 1200 dollars AND my entire car (2010 ford fusion). If you look on BBB website this is similar to others before me(they have a website)! My disbelief and I will be reporting them, as I still have all the paperwork. If I would have went to a more reputable place, I would still have a vehicle. BIG mistake, big lessons learned, only thing to be thankful for after coming here. Be careful and good luck. "Sir" absolutely correct. I have the paper work still. And have addressed the exact people who work there that is consistent with past reviews. All of a sudden you change the manager from Charlie to Steve? Never heard or talked to a Steve once but I will update my comment with my paperwork, I HOPE FUTURE CUSTOMERS SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

I normally get my vehicles serviced in laredo, and this was my first experience with a repair shop in San Antonio. When I walked in the writer, Rudy was the first to quickly greet us and get our issue down, and assess the situation. We found out our transmission needed an overhaul and was told we needed to wait 3 days, after 3 days the car was promptly fixed and drivable. No other place I've been to has been this quick and reliable, I recommend Aarco for repairs in the future!

Personnel hospitable and friendly. Interacted with Steve, who was open and honest about the condition of my car. Let me know that I didn't really need the service I requested, but I wanted it done anyway, and they completed the job fast and efficiently. Offered me the opportunity to take a look under my car while it was on the lift/jack and pointed out stuff to look out for. Due to this, found that my front brake pads needed to be replaced, which I came back the next day to do. Prices seem fair and instills confidence in their abilities for inspecting and performing major repairs.

Excellent customer service! I was calling around and had a hard time finding a mechanic to look at my car to fix my power outlet/cigarette lighter. They told me to bring my car up to take a look. I was right in and out. They were very helpful! He was willing to fix a fuse without a charge. I tipped and was grateful for offering me free service!! Great job. After a long week of being turned away from other shops. These are the people you can TRUST!

They rebuilt my transmission over 10 years ago and it's still going strong with 200k on the rebuild. I've recommended them to several friends and acquaintances and they've all been very happy with the work. They definitely know what they're doing when it comes to transmission work.

In this day and age, you simply cannot take your classic car to just any shop. After taking my transmission to be rebuilt at Thunderbirds Southwest and having it fail within the first 50 miles, I did my research and took my 1960 Thunderbird to AARCO. These folks did an excellent job rebuilding and installing my transmission. Jr knows exactly what needs to be accomplished and Maria extended me a level of professionalism and customer service I seldom experience in this day and age. These are honorable business people that have the technical capability to trust with even the most unique vehicles. I highly recommend them!
