Short story: I think they are very thorough, but you might be treated with condescension and impatience. They will do more than you ask for, which may annoy or may delight, depending on your personal values. They may be slightly over-priced. Long story: take a look at Jennifer’s review from 3 months ago. Matt responded to that review saying, “I never intended to be dismissive..” Maybe he doesn’t realize it. Matt talked down to me in several conversations about my car. He likes to give his credentials, and expound on his extensive experience, and he will be impatient, short, and didactic. He will dismiss your thoughts. It’s hard to get a word in edgewise. One may say that this is less important if they give top notch service. I myself will tolerate poor treatment of customers if that is the case. It does make it more difficult though, to build trust, if you treat customers with impatience and condescension. I had a failing battery and wanted to know if the alternator and starter were failing as well. I had to push to get those answers, and actually I still don’t know about the starter. Allen at O’Reilly auto parts on West 3rd street was much more friendly and just as knowledgeable, if not more so, than Matt. I could have gotten better service there with better treatment, for $60 less, and gotten a 4-year warranty instead of the 3-year warranty I got with Advanced Auto Care. As with other customers, they also did work that I didn’t ask for. Maybe that’s a good thing. They want to sell me four new tires. I don’t trust them. Maybe they deserve my trust. You have to decide if I’m too paranoid, or if there is something lacking with this group, but I don’t think I will be returning.

The guys at Advanced Auto are very friendly and helpful. I’m a woman and going to car repair shops are a little intimidating, especially knowing how some shops like to scam women. These guys are honest, and efficient, and really care about you and your vehicle. I trust these guys with all my repairs.

I drove my car down from Greenwood for a brake job knowing this is the best spot in Indiana. Prompt response, easy to follow service recommendations. This starts at the top with the owner, Matt.

Had an issue with my metal air valve caps being on unbelievably tight... they took a look at them without an appointment and upon trying to loosen one, the valve broke. They then quickly replaced all of them with good, plastic ones and were very professional in doing so. Will definitely be going back there in the future for service, highly recommend!

A++ experience. I had a really great experience here. As a woman I’ve had places try to oversell me or talk down to me, but that wasn’t the case at all. They sent me the inspection report, answered all my questions with kindness, and the pricing felt very fair. They were also able to get me in last minute which I really appreciated. I left feeling taken care of and will absolutely come back. Additionally they were VERY transparent. They sent photos of the diagnostic codes, the battery test results, and the damaged drive belt. Highly recommend!

They repaired/replaced a manifold crack on the catalytic converter back in March. The part cracked again and the work was covered under a warranty (November). AAC is not only the best repair shop in Bloomington, but also the best that I’ve ever been to. I’ve always struggled to find mechanics were either honest or knew what they were doing; these guys have consistently checked both boxes over five years of doing business with them. When we moved to Indiana I asked my new chiropractor where was a great place to get my vehicle serviced, with no hesitation, she gave me YOUR address & phone number, she also went above & beyond helping me. We have an older vehicle so we like it inspected on a regular basis. The first 2 times, they reported, nothing was needed, this visit a few on the sensors needed replaced, & a couple needed new batteries. He APOLOGIZED for them needing to be done!! I told him I was thankful for their honesty & their commitment to work with the client, we have an older vehicle, so we feel safe taking our vehicle(s) there, knowing they are thorough & honest with their findings. I highly recommend them, & appreciated Dr Mary Bough’s referral & we also have told others 😊

Absolutely wonderful people. I dropped my car off because the breaks sounded weird, and a few hours later they called me and broke down what all needed repairs, what things I could wait on if I didn’t have the money now, and what everything individually was going to cost. They weren’t demeaning and they didn’t act all high and mighty like some places I have been to. Shoutout to Matt he is amazing. I talked to him initially and he was very sweet, and he also helped to get my work jackets back to me after I left them in my car when I dropped it off. 10/10, I will be going to them with all of my auto repairs from now on.
