Russ, the owner and operator of this business is the most honest mechanic I have ever met. When you bring him your car, he goes through clearly what he will fix to your car, and will even go above and beyond and check for any other problems for free. He saved me money and I have the utmost respect and confidence that he will will fix your car with honest and will get your honest moneys worth. I would highly recommend going here. P.S the place looks a little sketchy on the outside, but don't let that scare you off. I hope you make the right choice like I did.

We were referred here by a friend. We love Advanced Auto Service and Russ! I feel his prices are fair, and he always explains everything thoroughly. Every time I have my car in to be repaired, I learn something about it, and I really like that. I also love supporting a Westside business! I give him major props because he is a small business owner and doing awesome work. When things don't go as planned (for example, some hoses needed for a repair were back ordered), he is communicative and helpful with those things, and super flexible (like letting you drop your car off overnight if you can't make it in the morning). We appreciate his work and honesty.

I cannot say enough good things about Russ. I moved here a year ago with a very old car, and it's had quite a few issues, especially since I worked a job where I was driving it extensively. I had a bizarre schedule, leaving for work at about 5am and not getting home until anywhere from 1pm to 6pm, but Russ worked with me and my ridiculous schedule to get it in and out quickly. He is very honest - I am a young female who clearly knows nothing about cars, and while most mechanics would take advantage of this, Russ actually walks me through exactly what he finds, what repairs he thinks are necessary, and, unlike any mechanic I've met, will even tell you which issues he thinks can wait/aren't important rather than trying to rake in the extra money. Once, I had a flat tire and called him, and he walked me through what I needed to do, despite the fact that I needed to go to an actual tire shop and not to his shop - he was still more than willing to help me. His pricing is extremely fair and his estimates are always pretty much right on, and he never does any work without speaking with you and getting the go-ahead. He is super friendly, knowledgeable, reliable, helpful and all around a fantastic choice. I now have a new car and hopefully won't be needing to see him for a while, but I keep his card in my wallet at all times - I wouldn't go to anyone else!

Had an apt at Helen DeVos, pulled in to park and got out and my daughter said mom there is water coming from the van. It was from the side and steaming, I said well it's not my radiator, but it's my fluid all over the parking lot. I googled places and I got Russ. He was so nice when I came in I had no fluid and low on oil also. He checked my van found what was wrong and in a couple hours had my daughter and I back on the road back home to Howard City. Great price, very nice did not lie or try to take advantage. I will use him again. Go see Russ, he is great. And I had to message him a while after this to ask what kind of fluid I needed to buy not to gunk up my system and mix fluids and he got back to me and helped me out over text. He is AWESOME. A++++++++

Without question, one of the best auto mechanic experiences I ever had, that’s saying a lot because at 47 years old, I’ve had more than a few. I was actually in Grand Rapids from out of town with my family and our Ford edge started showing that the engine would not stay warm and it would only put out cold air. Which was not great considering it was around 6° outside. I contacted advance auto After after contacting about an half dozen other mechanics around town, and he was able to get us within hours. He had the part ordered and replaced later that day. He was very easy to get a hold of, completely honest and forthright with what was going on with the car, and worked like crazy to get it fixed for us because we were departing town the next day. Was totally amazed. The only down side is Advanced Auto is a three hour drive from our home. He would be our go-to machanic if he were in our neighborhood.

Recently had my truck in for a repair on my windshield wipers and it was a first time visit. Russ promptly took my truck in and got right to work on it. It ended up taking a little longer than originally planned but it ended up being a good thing because Russ was able to address another issue with the wipers that needed to be taken care of, which I was thankful for because he took care of another problem I didn't even have knowledge of. He explained everything he did, what he found, corrections and repairs he made, etc. On top of great and thorough service, his pricing was more than reasonable and he also stands behind his work. I think it's safe to say I have found my new go to for auto repairs and I will be calling him for any future repairs.
