Can’t say enough good things about this shop. I have a 74 westfalia that was in desperate need of mechanical attention. Chris helped me decide what had to be done and what could wait. He had the transmission rebuilt, new shocks, shifter linkage, engine tune up, axle and front end rebuild, and even replaced my ignition to work with the original key. I have a “one-key-car” now! The bus drives great now and Chris is always available for any questions or concerns I have. Did I mention that he’s an honest, straight-shooter who works with your budget concerns? If you have a VW, this is your place.

I was in the midst of a cross country trip, just came over the Rockies in my '69 bus, and she decided to take a forced break (distributor was chewing up points, and I'd always run electronic ignition, this was new to me). Got her to Chris and he worked his magic to get her running again, then timed and adjusted the carb for the altitude. He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, AND was willing to teach me about altitude adjustments along with the ignition system I was running, so I could fix the problem myself on the rest of my trip, which I did, a few times (ended up being an abrasive rotor cam). Thanks to him I wasn't stuck in the mid west scratching my head, I was able to take 15 minutes, make the repair, and be on my merry way!!! Thank Chris, you're the best!!!!!

I met Chris when my starter went out on my bug years ago at 9:00 at night and making calls to local mechanics I did not expect anyone to answer. But Chris was there and helped me out. He became my main mechanic afterwards due to his friendly and just plain cool attitude and trusted him to a complete engine overhaul. He went above and beyond my expectations and I believe I can day that I became lucky enough to call him a friend. I would strongly recommend anyone with an air-cooled engine to get up with him and though he's alone he brings a special attention to all his projects. Air-Cooled Clinic is the shizzle-nit.

Man, I really didn’t want to write this review. Dude is a cool guy and easy to talk with, but it’s hard not to be upset. I shelled out $2000 to have my ‘65 Bus motor tricked out a little and my clutch replaced. Long story short: my clutch has failed, two spark plug holes are stripped, missing exhaust bolts, and I’m told he “lost money” on the deal. This really sucks, should have gone to Painter’s Grinding like usual.

Honest and fast work. One man band working on these old Volkswagens. I've known Chris for almost 6 years now. He has been super helpful and nice. I always take my old Volkswagens here. I know I can trust Chris with any work I throw at him. 10/10 great guy and great work.

Chris is such a standup guy who I am happy to now call a friend. No matter what kind of obscure part or VW accessory I am looking for he has it at his shop ready for me. Thanks to him I have new upholstery in two cars and a new windshield in another.
