I will lump on and agree with so many others that Albany Light Truck and Car Repair is one of those independent garages that are tough to find. Sean and his staff are top notch. Had me back on the road within 24 hrs. Great folks

Several years ago we were referred to Albany Light Truck and Car Repair by a close friend. We needed a base plate installed on our GMC Terrain so that we could flat tow behind our RV and they had experience with this type of work. We were not disappointed. We scheduled an appointment and the work was done in the promised time. The price was extremely fair for the work involved in the installation. We continued each year having our inspections done on the RV. We recently purchased a new vehicle and once again entrusted Vinnie and the crew to install the base plate on our 2017 Traverse. They not only did a great job on the installation but also did the wiring. Every bit of it is professional looking and neatly done. Once again, the price was fair for the amount of work done. All of the staff is professional and polite whether visiting in person or speaking on the phone. My husband and I cannot say enough positive things about the business in general. We will continue using their services and promoting their services to others. Thank you for making us believers that their are still honest, professional business owners still in existence. 12/17/24: I came in for a quote. The receptionist told me they don’t do quotes w/o having to pay to have the car looked at. But they gave me a quote on top of the head anyways. It was ~$1,000 to replace rear brakes and rotors. 2x the amount the dealership quoted me (~$500). Don’t trust them. 7 years ago: Around of applause to them. They fixed my beloved car right up in no time at a nice price. They made sure I was complete satisfied and involved every step of the way.

These guys are top-notch. I was lucky enough to get a recommendation for a shop that works on diesel pickup trucks. Finally, a trustworthy shop with a fair rate and excellent customer service and communications. These guys work on all pick up trucks and SUV gas or diesel. Call Shawn or Nick, and they will be sure to take care of you and will keep you informed thru the whole process. Anyone who owns a diesel pick up truck knows the importance of a good mechanic shop.

Let me start off by saying I have historically been a consumer of reviews but never taken the time to write one for any business or product. That changes today as a result of the professional, courteous and knowledgeable team at Albany Light Truck and Car Repair. If you need a great local garage that you can trust and build a relationship with look no further. I came to Albany Light Truck and Car Repair with an odd problem (intermittent metallic grinding sound at low speeds) with my Explorer that local Ford dealers simply did not take the time to diagnose and certainly did not resolve. After one phone call and a quick exchange with Vinny it became apparent that their level of service and commitment to fixing my issue was unmatched. He took the time to properly validate the complaint and after a couple minutes of driving my car already had an idea on what the cause may be. Later that day the service manager Sean called me and explained the nature of my failing power transfer unit and took the time to validate pricing / timing of part delivery. We ultimately settled on a plan to replace the PTU and I felt at ease knowing the confidence they had in correcting a problem others could not even diagnose. The added complexity of working through this all during the holidays was a non factor as they managed the fix around my schedule. I hope you found this garage / review and give this business the chance they deserve to service your car. Coming from a life long customer of dealers, trust me when I say there are better experts to be found. Thank you Vinny, Sean and crew for delivering not only a timely fix but the start of a trusting relationship for any future needs I may have!

Not very happy because I was told that my 1994 RV with 39900 miles in very good condition was too old for an inspection. He said he only inspects 1995 and later. What a coincidence. He was the last place to inspect it the last few times and still has the records. Since then its only been driven 300 miles, has new tires and brake components, but I was still denied an inspection. Not sure this is legal in New York State. Will have to see what DMV says about that. Fleet Pride in Menands is happy to do the inspection. I prefer to bring my business where it's wanted. Obviously he couldn't be bothered.

After ordering the tires, I noticed I provided the incorrect tire size, going off the make and model and not the size of my existing rim. I brought my vehicle in for an issue with the tires (purchased elsewhere) and their treadwear not lasting per the tire warranty. Vinny was a great help, outstanding customer service and very respectful and professional. He looked at the vehicle and performed all necessary requests for the warranty company. Him and his staff were great to work with. I further asked about an inspection, and he/his staff performed a same day inspection right away. They were awesome to work with. I highly recommend this shop for your mechanical, tire and inspection needs.
