What can I say? George, Mike, and Eli hit it out of the park. I came in to have Alewife Auto swap the engine on my 25+ year old Mustang that was making a horrible noise from its bottom end and had timing issues. They went out of their way to help me find options, and were able to smoothly take in the freight delivery from the engine remanufacturer. I was in no rush to get this done and they still managed to do the whole job in 2 weeks! They also were very able to work with me being on a budget. Mike was super attentive and explained things very clearly when I dropped off the car and was discussing what went wrong with the car. George was super communicative on the phone when things came up during the swap. I knew going in that the original clutch assembly was pretty rough, and George was able to confirm that while he was in the engine bay and then got me a sweet discount on the OEM replacement. What an absolute pleasure to work with the crew at Alewife Auto. Super down to earth and honest folk. I highly recommend them to anyone with any car troubles!

I can’t believe that after several months, your team was finally able to figure things out and get my Prius back on track. I’d spent countless hours researching and attempting to solve the problem with multiple wrong diagnoses elsewhere — from Orleans, Franklin, Watertown, Roslindale, even Boston — almost ready to give up. I’m so grateful I checked for closer hybrid/EV specialists the day before dropping my car off for a week somewhere over an hour away. I was ready to pay $200+ just for a diagnosis and a week or two of waiting that likely wouldn’t have even worked out. We’ve been taking our cars to Alewife Automotive for almost 10 years, and I’m consistently impressed with their service and kindness. We’ve had everything done from inspections to tires to repairs. They are transparent and fair, and they never tack on surprise charges. A perfect example of this was I had taken a new car to get inspected with plates to a shop closer to our home, and not only were they kind of rude to me, but they wanted to charge me $20 to put plates on. I called George at Alewife and he said to come on over, they’ll take care of it all no charge. And this is something I’m used to with them—no charges to change out a bulb, top off fluids, etc. As a woman I’ve found that the stereotype is usually true with many shops, trying to get me to buy something I don’t need or up-charge me for something I wasn’t prepared for. It’s worth the slightly longer drive to get here for their service, I don’t know why I ever try to go anywhere else!

I've been bring my cars to Alewife Auto for years and couldn't recommend them enough. I originally came here after having a horrible experience working with a dealership, and haven't looked back since! They are always at least half the price as the dealership and explain things in clear and simple terms. Additionally, I love how George and Mike always check in on cost and the service plan, this kind of transparency is uncommon and highly appreciated!! The reviews are all accurate: the entire crew at Alewife Automotive is incredible. I had a transmission issue on my Subaru Ascent that the dealership couldn't diagnose, and Alewife spent two days tracking down the problem. They got a used replacement part (at a great price), installed it and then when that didn't solve the problem, left it in until they could replace it with another that would. The amount of labor and materials they put into fixing my car was NOT reflected in the final bill at all. Same goes for a tricky battery issue with my Mini they took care of the following week. At every single step these guys have been unfailing friendly, courteous, polite, accommodating and professional. The work has been done fast, done well and for far less than I expected. Early or late drop-offs have never been a problem and they've kept me well appraised of their progress every time. They've got a customer for life here - I'm never going to go anywhere else again.

I can not say enough incredible things about this shop. From the employees that you talk to, to the employees in the back you don’t really see or talk to much, they are all phenomenal people. George helped me out in ways I never thought a mechanic shop was capable of doing. He fought on my behalf for a month with my warranty company to make sure my car was in the shape that it should be. Every time they tried to counter with something else, he provided documentation, photos and anything else he needed to make sure they knew he was well informed about the car and the warranty that I bought. Best shop I’ve ever been to. Also, to top it off, they have such an affordable hourly rate compared to everyone else, especially dealerships. They are really serving the community by keeping their rates where they are and they have helped countless people by keeping their business run like that! Thank you again Alewife team!
