Ambato has the best service of any mechanic I’ve ever used. Luis is incredibly kind and helpful and has cut me a break on parts when I needed major service done. He does a great job in explaining issues in layman’s terms and I’ve never felt taken advantage of. Even when he’s very busy I get my car back extremely quickly. I won’t go anywhere else. I had an issue with my car. Another mechanic told me just to wait until the engine check line came on because the extra noise could be too much to inspect. The mechanic at this shop actually took a look at it and quickly diagnosed the problem as a loose cracked muffler, center pipe, and gasket. He told me I didn't HAVE to do it now and could drive around with it. The cost hurt a little :) but I decided to just get it over with and do it. The car is now quiet and now sounds like it used to. I recommend them because they put in the effort to actually look at the car and diagnose it. And then fixed the problem over one night. Not bad and I will definitely go here again.

My car inspection was due, and I was searching for a place at the last minute. I've called plenty of places, and this place was the only place that accepted me and told me to come over. Everyone else needed an appointment. I appreciate you guys. I also had them check my brakes. The owner was patient and very helpful. The price was reasonable for my brakes. Great shop. Called same day for inspection and they fit me in. The inspection was fast and easy as well as an affordable price. I was so happy that I asked them to do an oil change. They gladly did so and did a great job, quickly. They even checked and topped off my other fluids free of charge. Bonus, they have a cute and friendly junkyard cat hanging around the shop. I will be recommending this shop to my friends and you should check them out if you’re in need of a good shop in this area.

These guys are the best, as a former mechanic / tech and classic car owner I couldn’t be happier with the service I received today. I stopped by for an NYS inspection and oil change for my classic Benz. The owner and the tech were both very kind and despite several other cars in the shop when I arrived they were able to quickly clear space for me and serviced my car immediately. I brought my own oil and filter and was in and out in no time and the prices were very reasonable. Couldn’t recommend more highly. They also got that snap-on drip so you know you’re in good hands.

I went there for an oil leak on my jeep, I thought it was my oil pan, I brought it in to get the oil pan changed, asked to fix the leak. He changed the oil pan as requested and said the leak was fixed. I came back days later cause the leak was still happening, he told me to "wash the under carriage" that the oil was coming from before... I went to my brother who's a mechanic and he immediately found out it was my engine oil filter housing that was broken. I spent $400 which wasn't a lot for this kind of job but the fact that he didn't check the oil filter, and lied to me and said it's oil from before and that washing was the fix says a lot about his work ethic. Just keep that in mind.

10/10 Highly recommend Ambato Auto for mechanical servicing, maintenance repairs, vehicle diagnostics and inspections. While I’ve owned 3 vehicles and did business with several mechanics in Bklyn & Queens over the last 15 years, my experience with Luis was best. I’ve gotten my Jeep serviced at Ambato Auto two or three times in the last 2 years. I came back because I like the mechanic (Luis) a lot, I respect his work ethic, and I appreciate how he does business. Luis strikes me as a matter-of-fact communicator who genuinely loves cars and provides accurate vehicle diagnostics and cost estimates. He’s not trying to take advantage or upsell. As another reviewer put it, he’s not “starving for business”. Probably because he’s got plenty of business and is a good dude. He did my NYS inspection and offered me a free diagnostic upon request, identifying several needed repairs: brake pads, rotors, oil housing leakage (common problem on Jeep Wrangler 2014). Before taking my Jeep in for the repairs, I could hear and feel tremors while driving, and the brakes squeaking, indicating maintenance was needed. Gemini AI advised me what issues to should check for on the Jeep Wrangler 2014. Then I asked Luis to check the brakes, fluids, engine. Luis rightly identified the brake replacements and the leak in the oil housing cartridge and cleaned up the mess. The leak was a labor-intensive job that required taking the engine a part, given the location of the oil housing cartridge. He showed me before and after photos of inside the engine, as well as the discarded parts and new replacement. He did all this work in one day. Jeep was in at 8am and out by 6pm. My jeep sounds and feels like it’s purring now. He walked me through each line item on the bill, parts and labor. When I got the bill, I was genuinely happy to pay him because he’s earned it. I like Luis a lot. He’s now my go-to mechanic.
