took my 08 kia optima here after my GREAT neighborhood mechanic referred me to this place. I trusted his opinion. BAD MOVE. I got quoted a price, the young lady at the front only told mechanic 1 or the 2 problems I was having. When I got called with an estimate I was given a price. told them go ahead. What was told was an afternoon or next day fix turned into almost a week!! When it was finally ready I went to pay and it was almost $100 more than what I was told (and I didnt have it). I was quoted a price and thats what it should be. After a lot of back and forth they gave it to me for quoted price and the lady commented, "Well, merry christmas!" as if it was so grand gesture they were doing. The very next day after getting my car my check engine light CAME BACK ON (which he said he fixed that and it would be off) and my AC went out so I had to take it somewhere else to get the ac fixed and now after saving up I can take it somewhere else to check on the engine. I did not find anything honest or professional about this place and I will never return.

Very friendly staff. The lead mechanic is very honest about working on your car and giving updates about the car if any parts are delayed. I most definitely will continue to recommend the company.

I would highly recommend Automotive Specialists, to anyone who is looking for a professional shop. Automotive Specialists is even better than a dealership they have the latest technology to diagnose your vehicle. My business fleet would only be service by Automotive Specialists team. I have been coming back for over 5 years.

They won't work on older model cars anymore. I have an 1989 Ford Bronco. The old manager encouraged me to go somewhere else. Seems like he's definitely ready for retirement. They used to be pretty legit. Work started getting careless under old management. I've had a lot of work done on all of my cars. The work started good, got worse.. Under new management, looking a little suspect. Oh well, gotta find another mechanic shop. I guess if you are 2000 and up they still maybe viable. Good luck.

I’ve been a customer of Automotive Specialists for 10 years and I LOVE them!! They are honest mechanics and don’t try to screw you over like the big chains. They are always incredible busy, but they usually are able to repair my car same day. I took my Kia there this morning because it was burning oil. The mechanic ran some tests and determined that it was best for me to go to the Kia dealership because it can potentially be repaired under warranty. The mechanic told me that he would try to find the part to fix my car, but that he would rather me attempt to get it fixed for free. They didn’t charge me for any tests they performed on my car because they weren’t able to fix it. They prove that local is best!! I highly recommend them to everyone.

I took my car in for a Service Engine light (P0350/Ignition Coil Primary Secondary Circuit) that came on. They had my car a week and charged me $718.17 and told me it was fixed. The same day that I picked up my vehicle the service engine light came back on. I took it to Auto Zone and it was the same code that I had just paid Automotive Specialists on Taylor Blvd. $718.17 to fix. I called them and they told me that I would just have to bring it back it and they would take another look at it. After 2 weeks of hearing nothing from them about my car, I called them and asked for an update and the mechanic said he couldn’t figure it out and that they were shutting down for two weeks for the holidays and I needed to come get my car and I could bring it back after January 1. NO THANK YOU!! I wish I would’ve read the reviews on this place before taking my car there, because it seems like there is a pattern with them and unhappy customers. “Oh we fixed that problem, but what it’s doing now is another problem!” No, it was and is doing the exact same thing that it was doing when I first brought it to Automotive Specialists on Taylor Blvd. It was a tough lesson learned. I highly recommend NOT going to Automotive Specialists at 4217 Taylor Blvd. And always read reviews on a business if you plan on doing business with them. It could save you some money. If I would’ve read them, it would’ve saved me $718.17.

Shop has good reputation. Pricey but does good work, what I heard. Got a $1349 estimate to fix AC issue. I got sticker shock, paid $65 for incorrect diagnosis. I took car for 2nd opinion, to another local reputable shop and much to my delight my car was fixed for $199 . I don't know what happened, but I'm sure glad I got a 2nd opinion, $1150 + glad.

I recently bought a new (to me) car that I wanted checked after purchasing. I brought it to Automotive Specialist for the repairs. One of the few things that needed replacing were the brakes. When the work was done, I picked up the car and during my short ride home, the car seized up, then the ABS and brake lights came on. I restarted it, got home, and took it back to Automotive Specialists the next day to have them see why those lights came on. The owner called me later the same day, told me that it was an electrical issue, and to trust his word that it was safe to drive. However, the lights were still on and the brake pedal was now going to the floor, so I took it to another shop. After having it for a day, I was informed by the 2nd shop that the brake fluid valves that circulate the brake fluid through the car weren't tightened and because of that, air had leaked into the master cylinder and I had to get a new one. In addition, he told me that I was very lucky to even be alive because driving with those valves being loose was an accident waiting to happen. I called Automotive Specialist to ask for a partial refund on the brake portion of the work that they had done. Again, I spoke with the owner who told me that he couldn't give me a refund for work that they already completed (even though that's what a refund is) and that I should have brought the car back to them if it needed more work (which I had already done). He became very angry on the phone and kept telling me that the new shop was screwing me over. Honestly, I feel screwed over by him. The worst part is that I've been recommending this place to friends and family for years. My brother went to them a month ago because of me. Now I'll start telling them all to stay away, and I won't be back myself.

A professionally run business with top of the line mechanics. They were polite took me to my home, as the van needs to stay for them to start on the following morning, and provided a ride to take me bk to the business when finished. I would recommend to anyone needing services done for manual and diesel. Good job😎

I will NEVER EVER use them again! I had my vehicle towed there for a timing issue after the distributor was replaced. They didn't want to fix it so I had to get it towed again, it needed to come to Valley Station. So $95 was paid to them to use the tow company they use. However they took it to the wrong address then refused to go pick it up and bring it to my house where it was suppose to come to in the first place. On top of that they blamed my 75 year old mother in law for the confusion with the address. So yeah I would advise against using them!

Trust with extreme caution. This shop took advantage of my mother while keeping her truck for over two weeks and taking nearly $3,000 from her. With as much experience as this shop boasts about they knew the solution they recommended was not going to work and proceeded with it anyways. The truck still does not work and they are washing their hands of it while my mother is out $3,000.

Knowledgeable staff. Quick turnaround. I've had them do motor swaps and they only kept my car for 2 and a half days. Pride in their work not just anything for a buck, if they can't do the job right they won't do it at all.

They have always been honest with me and my family. I’ve been using them for years and highly recommend them. The rates are very reasonable and they understand hard working people, unlike other shops that are trying to milk you for every penny.

They weren't able to fix my problem on my moat recent visit, but they were honest and told me what they found without charging me extra money. It's can be hard to find trustworthy mechanics that won't charge an arm and a leg for service. Their diagnostic fee is very affordable, and they communicate well. You will need an appointment, or it may take a couple of days to get your vehicle seen, but I think that's a testament to the quality of their work.

I had a strange noise coming from my car, like a rock was stuck near the brakes. The store was able to get me an appointment the next day and test drove my car multiple times, but the noise disappeared. It seems the rock fell out during the towing process. LOL:) They didn't charge me for the visit, and I will definitely be back. Great service!
