Needed to get a smoke test for my 2009 Cobalt; check engine light would not turn off due to fuel vapor leak. Had a challenging time trying to find a auto repair garage that will do a smoke test. I also needed a yearly NYS inpection, so asked around for a reputable place that was trustworthy & my mother recommeded Bassets Service Center. Highly impressed with how quickly my emails were answered while cooresponding & asking questions. The mechanic contacted me by phone after the fuel vapor leak problem was found; quoted all the details fix and the cost. I appreciated the peace of mind and ease of service during this encounter.Had to drive the car around for awhile to put on miles & reset the computer monitors. Felt a good vibe at Bassets Service Center. Happily, the Cobalt no longer has check engine light, feel much safer with fuel vapor leak patched & my car newly inspected.

Their attention to service issues is good, but communication is not. As a result, I was without a car for one week. The facility failed to act on information which I provided resulting in unnecessary time and service charges that could have been avoided. In addition, when I received my car back, one function did not work and I found a wiring harness loose inside of the hood compartment. This lack of attention to a customer's communication and to detail when completing work may not be typical but is concerning.

Millie is sooo personable, knowledgeable and accommodating your every need! Ken is very precise, and his pride in his profession is evident in whatever is needed with excellence! I have have used them for a very long time and will continue!!!! I have moved out of Gates and there are many garages near me but don't mine driving the distance. For years I was a regular customer of Basset's until I moved from the neighborhood. I regret not traveling the extra few miles to have them take care of my cars. This place has new ownership. They do excellent work. The new front-end person, Millie, is very nice and knowledgeable. It could be a little pricey, but the repair and their work are worth the service price. I have referred a few of my friends, and so far, they have been satisfied.

My granddaughter and I went in for a wheel alignment. The mechanic said that we needed new outer tie rods. (We did). They quoted a price. We agreed to the service. They later called and said that we needed new back brakes. Figuring that it was only back brakes and shouldn't be more that $200 we okayed the service. Mistake. We should have asked for the new price including the brake job. When the service was finished, the price had jumped over $400.When we asked why the price was so high, they told us because they changed the rotors as well. When asked about it, they said that they always change the rotors with the brakes. They failed to mention this to us when they quoted the service. They failed to tell us if the rotors even needed changing. I feel like they took advantage of us. I assume some responsibility for not asking how much the total service would be, but I feel they should have told us about the rotors, which, to me, is another service.

Millie, who runs the front desk, is warm and inviting, and she doesn't mess around, she takes care of business! All of the mechanics are friendly, knowledgeable, and possess the one attribute everyone looks for in a mechanic, they are honest!!! I definitely like to thanks to these guys for the service they did on my expedition. Had an emergency on my expedition with a break line and he was able to get me in the next day. Not even 08:00 I got a call about my truck being done. The staff was extremely polite. You guys definitely have a new customer. Thanks Update: my SUV still comes to this place and only this place after a couple of years. The work they do is above and beyond. Long story short, just bring your vehicle. Especially if you want your car done right. I can honestly trust the staff and not have to be worried about being rear ended. Thanks for the service.

It started with a ball joint and tiered job that I felt wasn’t done right, so naturally I was upset and feeling like going to Basset’s was a mistake… but when I tell you I was so wrong! Ray and Millie are so kind and got my car back in the shop asap to ensure everything was done right and then some! I can’t say enough how awesome and honest this shop is. Had a great conversation with them and another mechanic Jim, they explained everything in detail that I need to do in the future. My car is safe and driving great now, I highly recommend them, very good mechanics, very knowledgeable and I look forward to having all future repairs done with them. Like I said to them… my car problems are theirs too now! Haha :)
