Tim is a great and fair tech. I called a lot of other shops for a diesel engine oil change they all wanted way more then the Granger dealership. I called Tim and he said he could do it for the same price as the dealership, he is about 2 miles from my house right in town and the same price score. I have had him do a few more things since then but have taken my vehicles to him since then for quick work.

An oil change took less than ten minutes. The mechanics also made sure we had a cab light and replaced the light for the license plate for free, in addition to their complementary service of checking the radiator, brake fluid, window solvent, belts, differential, battery, tire pressure, wiper blades, lights, power steering fluid, oil filters, and air filters. They were fast, friendly, and efficient. Highly recommend them for your automotive needs!

May not look like much from the outside and where it’s located but man, they do great work. Both times I’ve been there (both mine and my wife’s cars) and the guys are quick and honest. Actually told me I’d be good getting no service fo 20-30k miles and there would be no charge for looking at it. If they keep treating their other customers like they did me they will continue to have a thriving business.

I had a flat while traveling from Cedar Rapids. When I was putting my spare on a random stranger in the parking lot told me I should go see Tim at Budget Brakes, so I did. Tim said they could get me a new tire but because of the size of tire needed they'd have to order it and it wouldn't get there for several hours. I had to get back home to pickup my dog from boarding so I couldn't wait. Tim, not wanting me to have to drive all the way home on my spare, found a used tire in the back that fit my SUV. He essentially gave me the tire for free and just charged for the mounting and swapping of the tire, which was not very much at all. He also loaded my spare back up in my SUV and put away the jack and all of the parts I had pulled out while changing out the spare. Being out of town, in an emergency situation, I couldn't have asked for a better place and person to come across. If I lived in Des Moines, I'd definitely be taking my car to Tim and Budget Brakes. Couldnt recommend more!

A+++ I can’t recommend this shop enough. After calling around asking for help to put new rear calipers on, I seemed to only find outrageous estimates north of $800, which would be a total waste given I already had the part. The mechanics at this shop not only agreed to put my personal part on, but they offered a very fair labor price. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone told me they were super busy, but still fit me in and got the job done in under 2 hours. I can’t recommend this business enough and don’t see myself ever going somewhere else for brake work. Awesome shop and fantastic workers!

Drove in after a friend recommended, no appointment. 15 minutes later? I was back on the road with clean oil, zero upsell guilt, and a better price than I used to pay. Super fast. Super friendly. No weird pressure. Just honest service that respects your time and your brain. If you’re a woman who’s tired of being talked down to at the garage, this spot gets it.
