Went out of their way to squeeze me in, even though they already maxed out on walk ins and appointments for the day. Staff was professional and I was promptly notified me when my car was ready after a short wait. Without them I would have had to get towed the next day as I was steadily losing air from a nail embedded in the tire. Thanks to Rui and Juan who made it happen!

They always do a good job. But there is no real waiting Room and nowhere to sit and read a magazine or a look at your phone. It feels highly industrialized, but the work gets done. Also since they sold me the tires the tire rotation and balancing are free.

I was happy with the work here. I was originally only going to do two tires but they called me when they had the tires off and brought me into the shop to show me the wear lines and suggested I do all four. They also let me switch out the new tires I was going to put on in order to get a better set of four that had a good promotional rebate.

The reason for the mixed reviews is really quite simple. This tire center has extremely competitive prices, and thus is overbooked and understaffed. There is almost always a line just to get in queue for a service. Naturally there is only so much they can do to pick up phone calls and to service every single vehicle up to closing time. The fact is once your car is up, the mechanics work very diligently on the vehicle. I will return for every single tire service I need in the future. 5 stars all the way

It's all about planning and online research and buying of your tires. And make your installation appointment online! I parked in the designated TIRE CENTER parking space at 4pm on a Thursday afternoon, showed the attendant my paid online tire order number and was told it would take an hour. 50 minutes later, I got a call that my car was ready while I was finishing my hot dog at the food court. I was driving away in another 3 minutes. Smooth process. The installers in the garage were clean and kept a neat garage. I bought my Michelins online on sale with an additional 1 cent per tire installation special. It's normally $15 per tire for installation; that's an extra $60 savings! I am a very satisfied customer.

So this message goes to Beth the manager of the tire place in Costco Tire shop on El Camino in South San Francisco. The worker named Roger. He was amazing. Nice and understanding towards my situation. I have a interlock system on currently and he let me use my own disinfected spray so it doesn't think I am drinking alcohol. He made sure I was taken care of and that my needs were important and safety. He was very professional. I wanted to give him a review on the phone but there busy. So I just wanted to give a shout out on here. So that the world can see. I am going to be a repeated customer because of the great service. I have the worst luck with tires so I will be coming back but hopefully not to soon. Thanks again Roger. Next time I wont have the device in but thanks again for being understanding of it. Booked an appointment for 5PM and they did not start working on the car until 730PM and after which they took an hour to make the change. 3.5 hours to get tires changed WITH an appointment. Im not entirely sure how any of this is acceptable. Everyone pretended as if this is the standard of service which was more shocking. Night and day difference compared to discount tire. Never before. Never again. Up there with my worst experiences with a consumer company.

With and appointment. 2 Hours and 30 minutes still waiting? First they don’t have a tire then they do have a tire?after 2 1/2 hours. My car was ready one tire replaced. The spare tire was placed in the trunk not 100% secured and installed correctly. But I guess it would have taken another hour to do it right. The front desk person guys were rude and didn’t have the answers to my questions. One more than the other. One of them said “I don’t know I didn’t work on the car…” anyway. I was not too happy with the entire experience. But do they care? Probably not… I have to clarify not everyone was rude, short or with an attitude. I spoke with the security officer he listen and recommended to relate my concerns to a manager. But at that point I just wanted to go home.

The front desk staff are extremely inefficient and impatient. After waiting in line for 40 minutes, I was told that I would have to wait for two hours for my 1:30 appointment to change a tire.

Avoid this tire center at all cost. Lots of miscommunication making it a horrible experience. Spent over 1k on tires last week and was told I can easily make an appointment once they arrive. Tried to set up an appointment and nothing for at least 2 weeks. Called them and they said if I show up right when they open, the wait shouldn’t be that bad, should be about an hour. Showed up at 9a when the website says they open and they inform me they’re booked for the next few hours and I can try again at noon. They said they had opened a little before 9a and already scheduled the walk-ins for the morning. So they are quick to take my money but don’t prioritize the services I paid for. Costco, please don’t sell your tires if you don’t have time to install them

EDIT: after 2 of my new tires were damaged, Costco replaced them for practically nothing! While communication was still a challenge, the did me a solid and did it quickly. I'd go elsewhere. The price for tires is good, but the lack of service, attention and communication makes it inadvisable. Sensor stopped working after they changed the tires, brought it back in, they said they would change the sensor for $50 bucks, didn't charge me when I picked up the car and then called to ask for $60.

Wish I had read the reviews before I booked my appointment. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, there were no directions or signs about where to park/check in so I asked the mechanics. The mechanic I interacted with was SO RUDE when I asked about parking / checking in for the appointment. It also took 1.5 hours for a pre-booked appointment for a tire rotation and balance. If you can afford to go elsewhere I would.

Customer Service while at Costco is good, but I can't get anyone to answer the phone. This local Costco's phone system has a very bad customer experience. If Tire center doesn't pick up after ~1min it takes you back to the main menu.

I took my subaru sti to El Camino Real costco and they strip my screw for my after market rays rim to balance the wheel. Then they told me to take it to a mechanic to remove the strip screw they broke which made me pay more money to try to get it removed and the mechanic said they couldn't even take it out because the screw was jammed in. Then when I took the car to the mechanic for the strip screw the mechanic said the nuts to my wheel weren't tight. Some of them were loose and the mechanic had to tighten the nuts. This is the worse experience I had with costco tire center. The mechanic took the center cap off and we had to bring the car back to costco to balance the last tire. I feel costco tire center should pay for the mechanic service. And they caused so much headache for me to find a mechanic. The 1st mechanic said they couldn't remove it and wouldn't even touch it. The 2nd mechanic said he can try but he wasn't able to take the screw out because it was force and jammed when costco try to remove the screw. Now I need to go find a clip on middle cap cover because I can't put the original rays cap cover back on. The mechanic that help me with selling the tire was also very unfriendly. Then they told us to make appt online which schedule was available is 2 weeks. But then you call them they won't answer the phone. I've called them at least 40 times when they called me about stripping my screw. No one answer the phone and I call them back in 5 min after hearing the voice message and missing their call.

Great, efficient service. Courteous staff. Have purchased two sets of four tires in the past. Most recently purchased Michelin Pilot Sports. Used the road hazard insurance THREE times for replacements without any problems. The price of the Michelin Pilots were the best, especially with a rebate. The free road hazard insurance is a bonus. Would purchase from Costco again.

Very mixed bag feeling about this. Costco Tire itself offers good price and LOVE the free tire rotation, balance, and repair. What I don't like is their practice. When the tires are a bit old, even if it still have some tread, they will refuse to do tire rotation for you (I know it's just a upsell technique - they want us to buy NEW TIRES!). Also, some workers here are not friendly (or even rude). You can tell that they are not happy working here. Also, unless you make an appointment, you often would need to wait for a long time. Even if you make an appointment, unless that you are the first 5 customers, you would probably have to wait >1.5 to 3 hours for your car. This is not meeting my expectation of high standards of Costco! I know Costco can do better!! If you have better options, I would shop somewhere else until they improve their services. Yesterday I dropped off my car at the Costco on 1600 El Camino Real South San Francisco to get all four tires replaced. They called me later to pick up the car saying it was ready. When I arrived the first issue was that they had lost my key and it took around 15 minutes for them to find it. The second issue was that they parked my car in a public parking lot and left the front passenger window rolled down. I was really surprised that they didn’t pay attention to the safety of customers’ cars. Fortunately, it wasn’t raining yesterday otherwise the interior of my car could have been seriously damaged. I also didn’t like the attitude of the reception staff the way they treated customers was unprofessional.
