Got a smog check done here in under 5 minutes — seriously? Most places take at least 10–15 minutes to do a proper test. Makes me doubt how genuine this place is. And to top it off, they charged $10 for a simple CR2032 key fob battery. Total rip-off..!!

I've been going to Al more than 20 years now. He was recommended by a Car Tow driver. I had provided reviews in Yelp, with the old address next to foothill, They were not available while they were doing the shop move, and they just started at the new address. Recently, we were experiencing problem with our 2015 CRV we were getting Parasitic Battery Drain. We were so frustrated cause after a day without driving, the battery would loss all power and not able to start the car. Hubby brought to the Honda dealer and another autoshop and they didn't find the problem. Hubby suspected the car door as he walks close to the car, the car would auto unlock. We are sure is not like that. But the other places say is a feature. One of them had us replace the battery. Then the car would last a few more days, then during Winter again more than a day without driving, won't be able to start the car again. So, we brought to Al when their shop re-opened. Al first test the more Security system known for parasite leak for Honda's. It was not that. Then he started disconnecting different connection and one of the them is the Door unlock system. And that was it. The fix was almost 1K as need to get the part from Honda also. The other great thing with Al is he did my smog test for my other car, a Honda Accord. That car recently changed car battery also and, a pure smog test shop charged me 70 and didn't pass me cause the car hasn't driven long enough. I had driven about 200 miles. He still charged me for the certificate and said if I bring back, he'll need to charge me, but will do me a favor and charge me a smaller fee. That doesn't seat well. Since Al reopened, we just had him do the smog test as we have driven another 200 miles since. It was still not enough. So Al had us leave the car with him, his mechanic drove for us for the needed miles and we passed. Cheaper than the pure smog shop on El Camino, which is a rip off.

Not a good place. The younger workers I talked to were really nice and accommodating, but the older guy who I think is a manager is one of the rudest people I have ever met. He was condescending and accusing me of doing illegal things with my car. The funny thing is, what he was accusing me of doing illegally turned out to be totally legal. He was saying I plugged something into the computer port on the car that’s way under the dash board. You actually had to pull it down from under the dash to see it. He was saying that California has a law that says nothing can be plugged into that port. However right at the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel, was another plug in. After I told him I didn’t know what he’s talking about he continued to accuse me of illegal work. When I asked him what the other plug under the dash was for, the one you plug an insurance monitor or computer to check the check engine light, he wouldn’t answer me and kept saying I was doing illegal things to the car. I then went directly to my automatic who looked under the dash board and started laughing his head off. Turned out the thing that was plugged into the port the guy was saying was illegal, was the pig tail from a plug auto shops use to plug in their computers (see pictures). They have no clue what they are doing over there. The first picture is what the old guy was yelling at me about and the second picture shows that it’s a pig tail from the computer port. And he couldn’t figure it out.

So thankful for their exceptional customer service and top notch technical expertise! Due to a tricky problem, my car needed jump start before fixing. Cameron quickly came to jump start it and Al found the problem shortly in the shop. They were diligent and thorough doing tests to make sure the problem get solved for good. They fixed it and replaced my broken AC panel at a very competitive price. Really wish I had known them sooner so I could have saved myself so much hassle getting my car jump started multiple times by AAA and wasting time with an incompetent auto shop who not only failed to diagnose the problem but also tried to sell useless stuff as a solution. Cupertino Auto Care absolutely deserves this review. It’s rare to have such great car repair experience. Really appreciate the incredible help from Cameron, what a kind and thoughtful gentleman! And Al of course - the excellent car doctor who gets problems solved like no other!
