Wanted them to do timing chain on my mini cooper they said they only work on BMW. Funny it is made by BMW has a BMW computer, dual vanos, and valvetronic components all by BMW and built by BMW with BMW part numbers and parts. Just wanted a timing chain done not diagnosis. Not smart people it is a BMW product. If they don't know that what else do they not know. 17 years I have worked in automotive. Do not have time to do it myself.

***This review is based solely off my experience with DP Autowerks*** I had an overheating issue with my 325i and had my car towed to DP Autowerks, after a day or two the tech calls me back and says you need a water pump and thermostat but he would let me know once he gets the car in the garage and looks at it further. So later that afternoon he calls me and says " I can't get this thing to start, you need a new motor" and quotes me $6,500 price to do the motor swap. I told him i wasn't interested in putting a (new) used engine in a 10 year old car and I would come get it. While this was happening Eastern Autowerks(who I originally wanted to look at my car but they were booked out for 2 weeks) had time to look at my car, long story short $1,600 later Eastern Autowerks had me back on the road with the same engine, they had to change a fuse before the car would start and trouble shot the running engine to find out it was a perfectly fine engine just need a new water pump, thermostat and oil filter housing....THANK GOD I DIDNT JUST ALLOW DP TO THROW A NEW ENGINE IN MY CAR!!

David was awesome! Diagnosed my front end noise in my Z4 and discovered a potentially dangerous front brake issue. Easy to work with and fair price on parts and labor. Saved me $$$ over the dealership. This is my new "Go To Shop" for anything I can't do myself.

We had been searching for a technician to isolate an A/C issue on a 05 E83. I had a good suspicion based on my limited knowledge that the dash board would need to be removed. Very tedias to say the least, and I was not going to trust just anyone to attempt it. Immediately after entering their shop I was put adease with the appearance. Quick diagnosis and scope of work explained. The Repairs were completed in an amount of time only a true BMW service Technician/ Professional could have accomplished. I recommend DP Autowerks for any and all. Great Job guys! Sincerely; Thanks Again. Roy Jarvis

The staff here is fantastic. Was in Virginia Beach for a mini vacation. Car would not start at the hotel. I called DP Motorwerks about the problem and they took my car in unscheduled and has me back on the road in 4 hours. It was the fuel pump. Quality work at a reasonable price. Thanks DP Motorwerks!

Came in from out of state and had several warning lights appear during drive in, they told me to bring it in next day so they could run diagnostics. Dropped off in morning called me in afternoon and told me sensors were giving false readings. He could have told me I needed to replace break pads (one of the warnings) or some other service needed. Simply told me he replaced the one sensor and bring back to my mechanic back home for the other warning, which was supposedly fixed a few months back by my guy. Great experience, old school honesty. Thank you DP Autowerks!

My Z3 had some warning lights come on. Motorwerks found the problem quickly and the repairs we done at a responsible price. Their hourly rate is all inclusive; no adders for shop fees, disposal fees, etc. I also had to have a computer reset on my 328i, no problem. I called for an appointment, no waiting when I arrived, in and out in 15 minutes. This is the shop to go to for all your BMW work.

David and his crew turned around my 2013 128i in a day at a fair price and got me back on the road for my daily commute to Elizabeth City, NC. I won't go anywhere else for BMW work! Great Service! Thanks to the crew as well!

Hands down the best service shop in the area that specializes in BMW. These guys are honest and know their stuff! I was treated right, I felt comfortable with the prices and was confident the work was done right. Don't let the dealership drain your wallets and don't let any old mechanic start digging into your BMW. Try these guys out!

No question the best BMW shop in Hampton roads. Both of my experiences here have been great. Extremely reasonable prices on all work I have had done. After they realized I needed new tires for my state inspection they were willing to drive my car down the street to a completely unaffiliated shop who had tires in stock. Saved me the trouble of getting a ride back to them just to drop my car off somewhere else.

If you are looking for an honest, knowledgeable BMW mechanic....DP Motorwerks is the BY FAR the best choice in Hampton Roads. The owner Dave is just wonderful! I have taken my car there twice. Dave and his team diagnosed and repaired my 330i quickly and for much less than the estimate that I was given from another BMW repair shop. I am so excited that I have found a mechanic that I can trust. I will never take my car anywhere else!!!!

Took my BMW on 3/15/22 because the thermostat was not reading. All other systems were working perfectly and no warnings were showing on my dash. Dave did the repair. When I picked my vehicle up 3/16/22, I noticed smoke coming from under the hood and a burning smell on the way home. Once home, we lifted hood and the coolant reservoir was hissing and smoking. Coolant fluid was everywhere. I immediately left a voice message and never got a call back. Called again the next day and one of the technicians told me Dave (the owner) wasn't available and apologized for their screw up and told me they probably didn't clamp one of the hoses properly. Told me definitely not to drive the car that it would need to be towed. So now I'm without a car until I can have towed and repaired. Never had any issue with the coolant whatsoever and I've kept the car perfectly serviced. I agree with another review on here as to taking your car here for a small problem and leaving with a huge one. It's unconscionable that they had me pick the car up and drive it home in such a condition. Taking it to the dealership at this point. Better to pay a little more with dealership because in the long run, you actually save money by having it done right at dealership instead of places like this that mess up your systems and get as a repeat. Despite calling and emailing the owner, Dave, about what happened, he's been completely unresponsive.

Dave and team really came through in the clutch for us the week of July 4th when a rodent chewed on a fuel line. Called and they saw us the same day. So glad to find a reputable and top notch BMW service location away from home. If you're in Virginia Beach and Sandbridge, this is the place to go!

This is a wonderful business - Dave is a superhero! Our x1 wouldn’t start out of the blue - which is the worst feeling when you’re on a road trip 12 hours away from home . Dave was able to diagnose and repair it quickly and at a very reasonable price. We are very grateful and wish we lived closer so we could come here for all service. Thanks again Dave!

I used this shop a year ago and decided to use them again. This time I needed the engine mounts replaced. I arrived at the shop as soon as they opened and dropped off my vehicle. I was told I would receive a phone call when the work was done, but about an hour before they closed, I had not heard from them so I called. I was told the vehicle was ready for pickup and got there right away. The following day I looked over my vehicle and noticed that there was grease coming from the driver side front axle and it had leaked all over the suspension, steering, and wheel. The grease was leaking past the inner cv joint boot clamp which I believed was due to them during the removal/install of the axle. I told the owner of the shop the problem I was having, and he said "that's strange since they didn't remove the axles but used a jig to lift the engine" but he said he would look at the problem. He stated that the boot had slipped and they had to reposition it and re-band. I also had the brake booster replaced during this visit. Once I arrived home, I looked over the vehicle and noticed that the front axle had some fluid on it and opened the hood and saw that the master cylinder was overfilled and leaked brake fluid below it. I also noticed that there was a plastic cover lodged below the master cylinder and I tried to remove it but it was stuck. I then opened the driver's door and noticed that the footwell light wasn't on. In addition, the air ducting in the foot well was loose and not connected. I removed the panel to gain access to it and found the footwell light wiring was not connected and repositioned the ducting and connected them both. I also noticed that there was a screw underneath the floor mat and was wondering where that mounts and after a short inspection of the area I found where it needed to go. I looked under the vehicle and noticed all four brake bleeder screw dust covers were not reconnected. I noticed that the driver side front axle looked old and determined that the axle must have been replaced due to the inspection paint marks made at the factory did not match the color of the other areas on the vehicle. Also, if the axle boot was readjusted and re-banded like the owner stated, then why were there old clamps on the axle boots? Additionally, the plenum cover at the base of the windshield had about 2 feet of the mounting tab broken that the gasket is fitted to. I found broken plastic pieces on the splash shield underneath the vehicle. The work accomplished by this shop was very sloppy and careless. The owner lies about work performed to cover up mistakes the shop made. I would avoid this shop at all costs. I highly suggest that you find another repair shop to go to or pay the high fee at the dealership to have your vehicle serviced.

I absolutely love this place! I have been a customer with my last two BMWs and I have zero complaints. They are fast, reliable, honest and their pricing is soooo much better than at the dealership. I just had my 2019 X3 at the dealer for what I thought would be a routine oil change/state inspection appointment. I walked out of there with a failed state inspection and fixes that my car apparently needed immediately, totaling $8,200!!!! I declined it all, took it to this place and had them check it out. Everything they failed me for/recommended was bogus! Now David and his guys could have taken advantage of this situation and just offered me the work at a lower price, instead they were honest and said all I needed was a new set of tires. Do not take your car to Checkered Flag, do yourself a favor and take it to these guys, I just saved thousands by doing so!
