My car broke down last weekend and since Dodge decided they don't want to work on Fiats anymore even though it is under their Umbrella. I took it to a mechanic I tried to do my research they had great reviews online and say they specialize in European cars with a picture of a Fiat on their home website page. They quoted me over 10k to fix said my turbo was blown. (They also quoted a rear wiper blade replacement when I did a rear delete kit years ago so there is no blade to quote and the first red flag). After talking to friends the waste gate is a known issue on Fiats so I called the shop and asked if they were sure it was the turbo and not waste gate. They talked down to me for asking and said they don't guess they know. The way he spoke to me like I was dumb really irritated me. Paid them the diagnostic and 3pak oil change I had agreed too originally since it was due for one and told them I wanted to get a second opinion. So I rented a car trailer and brought it to a Dicorse who was 2 hours away. The owner Bob not only agreed to meet me on a Saturday when his shop is closed but he was amazing. He took it for a test drive and said I think it is the waste gate. He pulled out a brand new turbo to show me how the waste gate actuator works in the turbo and why he was thinking that was the problem. Then he grabbed some tools unscrewed 4 bolts lifted the plate and guess what the clip the holds the waste gate was gone he went inside grabbed a $10.00 clip put it on screwed bolts back on we went for a test drive and it was fixed. My car had a couple other minor issues so I left it with him. The minor things the other shop had quoted 3k to fix. He is charging me 1500 AND not only fixing minor issues but adding an upgraded tune kit (I'm getting my pops and bangs I've been wanting for so long) and and upgraded air filter. Huge Thank you to the Abarth whisperer Bob. Plus bonus points I got to see the fastest Abarth in the world today.
