Extremely disappointed with service. Was directed to Elar via the Uhaul website. Spoke to Berry who seemed nice the first time I spoke to him on the phone. I had explained to him that I would pick up the van I was supposed to rent around 7:30pm. He told me that would be fine because there would be someone there to assist me. When I arrived the gentleman who was there called Berry and Berry said he was at the movies and could not help. I called Berry from my cell (he did not answer), I called Berry from the cell phone of his employee (he answered) and advised him that I had reserved the van and was there to pick it up. Instead of helping his customer he said, "I am at a movie theater and do not have access to a computer."

I was back in town for a funeral and rear ended someone while not paying attention. I needed to get back to the other side of the country as quickly as possible. I thought I’d be a week and it would cost me an arm and a leg, but they had me out of there the day after I dropped it off, for a reasonable price, and it looked damn near close to new. We took our vehicle in by appointment on Tuesday and was told it would be ready on Thursday and yes our vehicle was ready Thursday. We were staying at an Airbnb about a block about from the shop. Someone stole our catalytic converter during the night. Barry quickly confirmed that that was what happened. He could have fixed it for us, but it can take a day or so for our model of vehicle for the part to get in and we wanted to get home so he guided us to a place that could repair the pipe that day for a temporary fix. He was honest and super helpful.

I just picked up my car from them and everything was done exactly right as promised and at the price agreed upon prior to work being performed. I dealt with Barry (the owner) directly and at all times he was responsive to all my questions and calls. Right now my car looks great after I had a minor accident. Barry also dealt with my insurance company to make sure the claim was properly submitted and approved. I have been there before and each time has been a positive experience.

Best, most professional, and most honest car place I've ever been. Barry did a great job fixing my car after a collision, for a reasonable price. And then when my teenage daughter knocked a piece off the side learning to parallel park, I brought it back to him, and he fixed it for free (!!!)—it was a small job, but still. Had a minor accident and brought it to Elar due to the reviews and I was not disappointed! My car looks like new. They are great at communicating and sending reminders if you forget to bring in your car when you say you will (me) and were very understanding. They also gave my car a wash/vacuum when it was time for pick up. Highly recommend this place and I am a very happy customer. Hoping I never have to return but if I do, this is the place I am bringing my car.

Elar Auto Review I’m baffled at how this place manages to keep any customers given their lack of professionalism and communication. I got into a car accident in December of 2022. A hit and run involving a semi that nearly got me killed. My car obviously needed to be towed. I called several places describing the state of my vehicle. Elar was one of the local places that could take my car in and get it looked at. Upon arrival and after speaking to Barry, the manager, they said with the utmost confidence it could be fixed and wouldn’t need to be totaled. Because of the upcoming holiday they would need to have it fixed after the new year, which I’m fine with. It was in really bad shape, of course I had no choice. Come the new year and I’m told they have to order the parts. Soon enough February comes and they’re telling me they still are waiting on parts. Then it’s March and it’s the same. April, May, June, July come and I’m told the same thing. All while I’m still paying the loan on my car AND paying for a rental. My complimentary rental through my insurance capped out in February so I’m paying upwards of $1200 a month just to get from point A to point B on a regular basis. It wasn’t until SEPTEMBER that State Farm got involved and asked me why the car hasn’t been fixed yet, and I said “hey your guess is as good as mine.” I kept going to Elar to see if there’s an update and Barry just kept shrugging me off and coming up with a nonsense lie every time. That’s when State Farm decided to move my car from that body shop to a different one. Within a day that other body shop immediately quoted State Farm and they decided it was totaled. I waited from December of 2022 to September of 2023 for them to tell me my car was totaled. Months of wondering the outcome and scrambling to find a solution. Spending thousands of dollars. In the end Barry didn’t even offer an apology for his negligence and lack of professionalism. I strongly encourage people to avoid this place at all possible cost. Their lack of empathy and consideration will cost you more than just financially.
