Much better than waiting in line for 2 hours. It's really easy with newer cars, says 2005 and up, or cars with the OBDII port. Simple, follow the direction and push the 'next' button.

As long as your vehicle has the port under the dash to plug the cable in it is very easy to use. There is a video on the VEIP website that tells you how it works, also the machine walks you through the steps.

Usually not a line so it's convenient, but it's also glitchy at times. If it can't scan the barcode you'll have to manually enter information, which takes time as the on screen keyboard is slow. Depending on your car type, hooking up the sensor to your vehicle us either easy or difficult. If it's difficult then you might get an error message and have to start over again.

Honestly, this was super easy. I was third in line, but the it went pretty quickly. The picture and video prompts and instructions were helpful, I can imagine even moreso for people that may not know much about cars. All in all, one of the easiest ways to do your emissions inspection.

Easy to use, although single individuals held up the line at times. Ideally having more kiosks at that location would greatly improve the efficiency. The first time I went, the kiosk broke down before my turn, another reason having a second or third would benefit the area. Also having some hand sanitizer would be nice. Overall, a decent but lengthy alternative to the full service station.

Kiosk said out of service (5/23/23). The person of front of me was able to use it just fine but when I drove up it said out of service. I came to Frederick because the Gaithersburg one was also out of service. I pulled off, then saw the 4 cars behind me get the same “out of service” response. I then waited 10min just so see if maybe it was temporarily since the person right before me used it successfully. Sure enough 10min later it was working. Moral of the story if you pull up & the screen says out of service wait 10min to see if it fixes itself. Hopefully MVA can resolve whatever software issue these kiosks are having

Very easy to use and fast, however did not print a copy for my records so I subtracted a star. Best to go at an unusual time, as it can get long lines and there is only 1 machine sadly. It is 24/7 though

This is a convenient option. Going early in the day was a good idea as there was only one person in front of us. Quick and easy, bring something to put on the ground if you have to kneel on the ground to plug it up. A flashlight function on your cell phone will help if it's dark outside and you need to locate where your plug in location is on your car.

Amazingly simple. Of course, follow directions, if your car is older than 2005 it's a no go, just head to the mom n pop shop and drop that 50$ lol. I like the fact that it's 24 hours, and you can amend any penalties incurred right there on the spot. Nice system.. Finally. Update. . Doesn't move past home screen.

Frederick kiosk follow all the directions on the screen and have your paper ready. It'll be over soon. Keep in mind if you have not used your car in 7 days it will have a error. I was told You will need to have a 15 minutes key cycle "one key turn with engine on drive for 15 mins park the car and turn the key off again. That equal too one cycle"

Went on a random morning and there were roughly 4 people ahead of me. One person left the line and 5 more pulled up behind me. Takes only roughly 5 mins per vehicle, very quick option. Instructions are clear. Payment worked but was out of printer paper. Not much parking/pull up space, if line gets long it runs into the rest of the lot/road. I think it's a little cheaper than going to the person run stations. All in all worth it.

Simple to use. The kiosk is smaller than a gas pump. For some reason I was expecting something more elaborate, so I didn't see it until I got into the parking lot. The last time I used this kiosk, the scanner didn't work it, so I had to manually enter my licence plate number and part of the vehicle ID,which worked fine, but this time the scanner quickly scanned my inspection notice to get things started. Paid the $10 by credit card, then the door opened to access the cable. Plugged it into the connector under my dashboard, was directed to start the car, and after a few seconds of the car running, was directed to turn off the car and return the cable. An inspection paper printed, and I was done. Took less than 5 minutes in all and super simple to do. If you don't know where to plug in the cable, Google it before you go, or just look up under your dashboard. It's pretty obvious once you know what you're looking for.

Easy to use, plenty of space if others are in line waiting. Scanner did not work when we used but easy to type info into the system instead. Recommend finding your plug before coming to self serve in order to keep the line moving.

After waiting for the vehicle in front of me it was quick, less than 3 minutes and easy. Just know where your ODB port is before you go.

This was so easy to do! When I first got the notification that I had to get this done, I was nervous because I had never done this before. Had I known earlier how EASY of a test this was I would’ve gotten this done much sooner. 😂 All you have to do is drive up to what looks like a gas pump at the location, scan your barcode from your paper notification, and the machine gives you step by step and picture instruction. You will need a credit card for payment. It was $10. Also, there’s no awning so, if it’s raining outside, I would recommend going another day.

This was great. I will do anything to avoid people and I didn't have to interact with anyone, plus it was cheaper. Do yourself a favor and find out where the testing port is on your vehicle before you arrive. YouTube can help with this.

Easy to find in the back of the parking lot at the MVA. Overall process just takes a couple of minutes to complete if there is no one in front of you. Only reason for 4 stars is the machine was out of paper so you could not print a report and/or receipt and the phone number they give you to call to get your report just goes to a busy signal. I had to call the 1-800 for the Maryland MVA to speak to someone since the 410 number they give just goes to a busy signal.

Out of service on Apr 30 2023. Bummer there’s only one kiosk in all of Frederick. Just got my inspection completed May 18 2023 at 10am. Completed without a hitch. Only had to wait for one car in front of me.

Google said that the self service kiosk was closed, but that seemed silly to me, so I went. It was "open" and I was able to do my self service emissions inspection without issue.
