I've moved out of San Diego a few years ago and since then been using the new neighborhood's Mazda dealer's service shop but the difference in the experience is quite huge.... I miss John Hine Mazda San Diego so badly.... I've used quite a range of dealer-owned repair shops in the past for other cars, not just Mazda's but also Subaru's, Ford's, Jeep's, Nissan's, and Toyota's but I just keep getting so disappointed with all of them and keep wishing if they were John Hine Mazda..... John Hine Mazda offers you such a significant level of confidence and peace of mind when it comes to Mazda repairs. They never do any of those annoying upselling either. You've probably been told so many times (like I have) that getting your car serviced at a dealer costs you so much more than getting it done at private repair shops but not with John Hine Mazda. In fact, quite often their pricing is more reasonable than other repair shops. Ah and not to mention, the customer service is superb too. They are simply the best!!!!

I almost never leave a bad review, but I really don't like or trust this place. For one, even though I'm talking to a human, I always feel like I'm talking to a machine when go here. Second lI'm not convinced they do good work. I got new tires and had to come back because they weren't properly aligned. also had a master technician inspect my windshield wiper fluid line told me there was no problem. Then after 4 squirts it's out of fluid again and don't come back for three months and they tell me the inspection is out of warranty. If you're going to be a robot, at least be a reliable one.

Had my first service on my Miata here a week and a half ago. I was happy that no extra services were pushed on me, and that the waiting area had comfortable seats, coffee, and fast Wifi. I was asked if I wanted my car taken through the wash after the service, which I declined because I was planning on washing it myself later. Unfortunately they took it through anyways, so I have some fine scratches and swirl marks on my paint now which is a bit of a bummer.

This dealer told me that having a dash cam connected to the USB port in my 2023 Mazda 3 would void the battery warranty since it does not come out from the factory. And will need to charge 250$ just for checking, if it turns out the battery is bad I will need to pay 250$+ battery replacement fee. Lots of BS for warranty.

As of December 2024 this place is still under construction. Do not recommend getting service here until it's done.... They have a temporary trailer but it's difficult to find someone to help and the waiting area is a tent with no heat right next to the freeway. I would have never made an appointment here if I knew this information.

I had a part that needed to be replaced under warranty, so I took my car to this service center. People I interacted there were nice. Unfortunately, the part was on back order, and I was told it would not get there for 9 days. I elected to take a loaner car as I didn't want to bring my car back and forth. There were several issues with ordering the part, and they did not get it for 25 days. I cannot blame the service center for that, as they are not responsible for Mazda shipping. However, when I got my car back today, it was in a terrible state. It was covered in a thick layer of dirt and tree sap? Even after washing the car, I can still feel grime all over the surface of the paint. I'm going to now have to get the car detailed to get the paint back to what it was like before I dropped it off here. Incredibly disappointed in how they treat customers cars. I don't think any dealership has given me back my car in that kind of state. Edit 09/25/2024: The staff at Hello Mazda San Diego did reach out to me and fully covered detailing my car. Thank you Idaliz for addressing my problem, I really appreciate the time taken to remedy the issue. My car is back to looking great!

Polite up front but they do not communicate nor respect your time at all - clearly don't seem to mind if you go elsewhere. Came here with an appointment to service my 2024 - it was my first time dealing with Mazda service and Hello Mazda specifically. I was told 2 hours from time of an appointment for completion of an oil change. No update after two hours - they hadn't started working on the car. Offered complimentary oil change "if you can wait maybe another hour or so" while handing me my keys. Seemed relieved to have one less car to work on. Won't be coming here again.
