Couldn't get some basic maintenance at Goodyear without waiting a week so I dropped in and they fixed my car up nicely in a matter of half an hour. I was searching for something more local and the owners are very friendly and long established. My car is balanced better than ever after a rotation and I will be back here next time I need servicing.

Hello, to anyone who may be having car issues. I'd like to confidently and passionately say to GO HERE! The history and owners of this auto service are truly remarkble, and they are kind people who will most definitely communicate and treat your car with the uptmost respect. I've been facing prolonged car issues for quite a bit, but the owners skillfully inspected my car and saved me from my current and future issues, such as electrical, tires, engine, etc. They've been affordable, accomodating, and caring every time that I have come there--they truly treat you like family. Make sure to call ahead, have a great time talking, and take your car in and have a great sigh of relief. I have no doubt that they'll be able to assist you as best as they can. Great mechanic shop. I had an issue with my EGR valve, turns out my throttle body was clogged almost entirely in addition to my EGR valve issues. They took the initiative to clean it out and my truck is running even better than these last couple years. Great shop.

I was referred to HILL TOP AUTO SERVICES by the staff at THE GARAGE in San Francisco after they were unable to get my 1994 Acura to pass smog (despite $900.00 in charges). HILL TOP promptly figured out that one of the cylinders wasn't firing because of a "bad coil". They replaced the coil for $350.00 and had the car ready the next day. They also fixed the ignition as the key was sticking making it hard to use. I took the car back to the smog center and it passed! These guys are awesome and are now my "new best auto friends"!

I recently brought my new-to-me 2001 NSX to Don at Hill Top and really glad I did. It took a bit of time to get an appointment but when I arrived to see 2 other NSX's there I knew I was in the right place. He walked through all the items he recommended and answered all my questions clearly. Price was very fair and Don even did the work himself so I know it is done right. His wife was helpful to work with too. Even though it is a bit of a drive, I won't be taking my car anywhere else.

Been going to the Acura dealership forever until it shut down. Closest Acura service in SF was trying to say I need all these things because it had almost 75k miles without even checking the car. It didn't feel right. Somehow I found this shop and I can't believe how much I've overpaid and been oversold services all these years. The team was honest and only did what was necessary instead of upselling. Very transparent. The owner has the same certifications as the dealership and maybe even more! I walked down to watch a movie to kill time and was done when I was back. Service was quick and easy. Definitely coming back.

I was recommended to go there, and im happy i did. Very honest people, my car was at the point of just no coming back, but Don worked on it and brought it back to life. I found a new mechanic. A little pricey but its worth every dollar. I've had my car for 9 years and it will last at least more as long as he continues to view it.

Had Don do an inspection on a used car we were considering buying. He found missing clips under the engine that might have cost a few dollars. But he missed a multi-thousand dollar a/c problem and he missed other things as well. Don's a really nice guy, but his inspection was a painful botch for us.

Affordable prices, fast service. Called at least 6 different tire shops to get our rear brake shoes adjusted which either didn't offer that service and/or were booked up 1-2 wks out and quoted high fees but Hill top took us the following day early morning. Took about 20 minutes in and out. Guys were extremely outgoing and happy to help us out. Good people and Highly recommend!!

Don’s shop is a great find I. Daly City. He was able to diagnose my Odyssey issues. Definitely will be back in the new year. Took me 27years to find this efficient and professional Honda helper. Established 1997 NOTE: as of January 1,2026 - Don is officially retired. Time to look elsewhere

I was quoted $168 for diagnostics, but later told it would be higher due to “extra checks” without my consent, and no clear explanation was given. They eventually honored the original price, but the repair quote was about double what other shops offered for similar work, and they refused to break down labor vs. parts. I was also pressured to pick up my car the same day despite being within their posted two-day policy. The lack of transparency, attempted fee increase, and unfriendly service left a strongly negative impression.

I wish there were more places like Hill Top these days... they are knowledgable, price things fairly and clearly, give estimates up front, don't try to up-sell you ANYTHING you don't really need, and do the work well and on time. That's far too uncommon these days, but Hill Top is one of those rare auto service centers that does this and more. I bring my Acura NSX here from Saratoga... about 45 minutes away, because I really only want Don at Hill Top to work on it. He's known as an NSX expert, but more importantly, he's just an honest, talented mechanic for any vehicle (especially Hondas and Acuras). Don and wife Diana are a great team that deserves your business and will earn your trust and admiration.

Dishonest and Ridiculous owners! I had been coming to this place for years but this last visit illustrated to me some of the most dishonest business practices I have ever experienced. I thought Don was a honest guy but this last visit was ridiculous. I brought my car here because it was making a whining noise when I drove that got worse and worst. The mechanics looked at my car for 2 days and could not tell me what was wrong. Don's wife then called me and said that "they don't accept cars that make noises or usually work on them," which is absolutely insane! WHAT KIND OF POLICY IS THAT?! If that's the case, then what are people supposed to do if their car is making noises, just drive it like nothing is happening until the car breaks down?! The only reason why they were saying this to me is because they think I am stupid so they can take advantage of me, which is what happened. What actually happened was that all the car needed was POWER STEERING FLUID. Because as soon as they poured it in the whining noise stopped. At the end of 3 days they charged me $200! That's $200 power steering fluid. They tried to dress it up as there was an issue with the actual power steering and that they would follow up with me but of course they didn't because it is total nonsense. I was very loyal to this place and thought Don was honest but I see him and his wife are not honest people and I will never to business with these bad people again. What they should of done is been honest and said "we messed up. We should have looked at the fluid first but overlooked it. We apologize." All they did was waste my time and money. Don't come here!
