I was extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from one of the representatives today. This was my first visit to this service department, and it will also be my last. After seeing reviews about their long wait times and poor customer service, I can confirm it’s simply not worth the hassle.

I purchased two vehicles from this dealership and while I had good experiences purchasing the vehicles, the service department leaves much to be desired. They’re unresponsive and some are rude. I was told by the customer service manager a couple of weeks ago that she would deal with my issues and have yet to hear back from her. When I tried calling, her voicemail was full. When I tried go get my dents fixed under warranty, I was told only one would be covered until the finance person (who is no longer there) got involved and got them taken care of for me. Have had major issues with communication. Would take my car somewhere else but there are no other Hyundai dealers near me to do the warranty work.

Percy provided outstanding service from the moment I walked in the door until the time he put the keys back in my hand. Perhaps the best auto service I've had in a very long time. Our family has 2 kias and 1 Hyundai. Because of Percy White's great service. Our next new car will likely be a Hyundai. Kia service has been a sore spot for us and today's service really impressed me Great job Percy!!!!!!

Wife brings her company vehicle here for servicing as well as our personal vehicle. This place has the absolute worst customer service out there. Time quotes are bogus, not sure that the work they’re performing actually gets done, and they are just flat out rude to patrons. Quoted 1-1.5 hrs for an oil change, which is already incredibly long, but it took over three hours. When she walked in to ask if it was ready, they rolled their eyes and acted like it was her fault it wasn’t ready. They make up excuses every damn time we’re here. When her motor failed, the only reason it was even fixed was because Hyundai USA made sure to honor the warranty. These guys wanted nothing to do with it. Love Hyundai, but absolutely hate that this is our option in town. They’re the worst.

Every time I’ve taken my car here to be serviced. Something else has come out wrong with it. Advisers do not communicate issues nor do they communicate when parts are on order, vehicles are completed, etc. It took me weeks to get information on my car that had been there and has had issues since March. I had to physically go up there and harass advisers to get information that easily could’ve been given to me through a phone call and I still couldn’t even leave with my car. Beware, if you’re looking for fast service outside of some thing generic you probably will not get it and if you do do not expect to get timely communication. Try the Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head dealership. At least, then if you drop off a working vehicle by the time you have it towed or picked up its still running. I should not have to replace the car after 125,000 miles.

Takes 2-3 hours just to get an oil change with a schedule appointment. An oil change shouldn’t take this long. If you are short staffed then consider spacing out your appointments more.

Overall, it was slightly disappointing. The wait for scheduled maintenance was almost 3 hours with an appointment. Service advisors are very nice and helpful. The drawback was the lack of available chairs in the waiting area, lack of accessible electrical outlets, and no charging stations.

This service department unfortunately consistently fails at every level. My previous visit they forgot that I was there altogether. I sat in the waiting room for 4 hours. When I went back to ask for the status, they said they had forgot to ask if o approved the repairs and didn’t realize I was sitting there. I needed up waiting from 9 am to 6 pm. This time around my vehicle needed a new starter which took 3 days to arrive. I was to pick it up on Friday and was told it would be ready. When I came at the end of the day to pick it up, they informed me that I couldn’t have my vehicle because they hadn’t submitted my paperwork to the warranty company yet, and therefore had to wait to receive payment from them. (Even though another employee told me because it was a Friday they could totally release the vehicle to me as they have done often in the past.) I would have to come back on Monday morning to pick up my vehicle. Which costs me two days work. Despite repeatedly communicating my need to then, they gave me false and misleading information every step of the way.

I'd give negative stars if I could. Complete waste of time. Unorganized, terrible communication, and lies. They jerk you around for days and don't even fix your car. I've been trying to get a repair done for over 2 years. Now, they haven't even taken the nail out of my tire, despite having my car 5 days! Your warranty means nothing to them. They won't honor it even when you show them the contract details you signed. Unbelievable. Percy, Ashley, Richard, and Laura all do nothing to accomplish your service needs. I'm not sure what they do all day since it's obviously not their job.

Quite possibly the worst place to take your vehicle for service. I paid for lots of unnecessary repairs and had to have my car towed there 2 subsequent times because they couldn't fix the issue. However, the service manager I worked with was incredibly nice.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with any kind of business. Brought in my vehicle for engine replacement. Car was kept for over a month, with zero communication or response to my calls. Had to show up in person multiple times to receive any info. When car was finished, I picked it up to find that they had left my sunroof open for weeks (rained in, birds pooped in, etc.) Left car to be detailed and the incident was completely dismissed and downplayed by manager, Aaron. After final pick up, scraping noise started near engine. Found out myself that one bolt in the newly replaced engine had been overlooked and not tightened whatsoever. Brought it back in to be tightened and they did not believe me even when pointing out the problem in person and showing pictures I had taken of it. They instead kept my car for 2 additional days. My husband showed up to complain and point out the problem with the bolt and only then did they immediately fix it and return my car to me. Horrible company and experience.

The estimated time of service was underestimated by hours and caused me to be late for work. The organization of transportation is poor. My service supervisor, Percy, did not keep me updated on my vehicles status, even after I had called and texted the office. It took over a day to get my car back when I was told it would be a couple hour repair and I was left out of the loop. When I went to pick up my car, they had missed placed it and it took over 20 minutes for them to pull it up front, again causing me to be late. I then saw Percy give out review cards to other clients, but did not offer me the opportunity to review my experience working with him- hence this post. Percy greeted me on the morning of pick up with a sarcastic comment regarding the “joy it had been working with me”, obviously not a genuine comment. A very rude and unprofessional way to treat a paying customer. I will not be coming back here for any services nor recommend this to anyone else in the Charleston area.

I went in for a diagnosis of a check engine light that occurred after a collision. I also asked if they could just check the Freon levels since I had just had the car’s AC fixed as part of the collision and I wanted to see if the Freon was low. Was quoted $248ish per check (so $500 total), which is insane since I didn’t need a full diagnostic on anything except the check engine light. Was told I could get a complimentary check for one of the checks so expected to pay around 248$. Was instead charged $365 to be told that I needed several items that I didn’t ask about, for a total of $6000 of work. Aside from not truly checking the check engine light issue (the code can mean multiple things and they just quoted an entire replacement, undoubtedly the most expensive option), I was also told I needed an entirely new AC compressor. Took it back to the collision place to deal with the AC, and it was just a faulty o-ring/hose. No need for a new compressor. I highly doubt all that other work needed to be done too. Now, the inaccurate diagnosis is holding me up with my insurance, who wants me to go to a dealership. But if the dealership isn’t going to actually check and diagnose things properly, why would I do that? Liars. Also they never responded to the email that I sent per their request below, so they don’t seem to want to resolve this concern.

I had the worst experience here. I took my car in to check on a check engine light because I have a warranty. Conveniently for them, nothing was under warranty. They told me I also needed new wind shield wipers, battery, a transition fluid flush, and new brakes and rotors. I was also told I’d need a new ABS control module that would be almost $1,000. They had my car in the shop for over a month and I had to start contacting them every day to check on the status. Finally they called, only to tell me I ALSO needed another part that would cost another $2,000 and had no prior issues. I had tried to contact the service manager and he only called me back when I reached out to another dealership to get help. My service advisor was Percy and he was not great at keeping up with communication but the service manager Aaron treated me so poorly that I’m in the process of contacting corporate to prevent another customer from getting the same terrible treatment. Please if you see this, don’t take your car here!! I ended up only getting my transmission fluid changed here and now I doubt that it even needed to be done. I just took my car to my fiancé’s trusted mechanic and was told the brakes were fine, only 50% use, and the battery was great too. Please if you see this, don’t go to this service center. See this as a warning! Don’t let this dealership take advantage of you!

I could have started and completed a master’s program in the amount of time it took for my car to be serviced. Had a 0745 appointment, but they don’t open until 8 (how does that make sense?) And then waited for another 5 hours for an oil change and brake replacement. Kept getting “they’re almost done” and “just another 15 minutes” all throughout. Grossly underestimated the time. The “15 minutes until we are done” turned into 1.5 more hours. Then to be told they don’t have the right part to fix my car, and it won’t be here today. Why did I sit for 5 hours? It took them 5 hours to figure out they couldn’t do it? Driving home in a loaner car incredibly pissed off.

Hyundai of North Charleston and the service provided by Percy and the manager Dennis was disappointing and deserves to be shared. From start to finish, the level of disorganization, poor communication, and lack of accountability was unacceptable. First, I brought my vehicle in for what should have been a straightforward service — only to find out the wrong part was ordered and installed, wasting both my time and money. Despite previous conversations clearly outlining what was needed, the service department failed to take ownership of their mistake and offered no meaningful resolution. Trying to get a straight answer from anyone was like pulling teeth. Add in the fact that they were slow to address an open recall, and you’re looking at a dealership that’s either overwhelmed, understaffed, or simply doesn’t care about customer satisfaction. Customer service throughout this ordeal was dismissive at best and downright unprofessional at worst. Follow-up was nonexistent, and I had to chase them for answers every step of the way. There are plenty of Hyundai dealerships that actually value their customers — unfortunately, Hyundai of North Charleston is not one of them.

2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz About a month ago we had to have the fuel injectors cleaned which cost us $4-$500. I thought it was the battery so I asked for them to check it. I was told the battery was completely fine and that they did check it. Fast forward and more issues. Now I’m paying another $490 for a new battery since warranty isn’t going to cover it. Almost $1000 for a 2024 vehicle that im paying a lot of money for. It also took them 3 days to replace a battery which is insane. That’s a lot of issues for a new vehicle.

The service department is absolutely terrible on Rivers Ave. I tried to give them a chance before writing a review, but they have a reputation for terrible service. About a month ago I brought my husband's Ioniq 5 to be serviced. I waited for it for about three hours. After it was done, I went a few minutes down the highway just for the low windshield wiper fluid alert to come on. They also didn't reset the maintenance timer, so that keeps alerting me that I need to get maintenance done. I just dropped my Palisade off for maintenance this morning and the guy asked if I was staying. I decided to stay because he told me that if I stayed my vehicle would be done in 2-3 hours, but if I left he could only guarantee that it would be done by the end of the day. I don't understand why it could be done in 2-3 hours if I stay, but it will take all day if I drop it off. The service department is terrible every single time we take our vehicles in for maintenance. They need to do better. The sales department is awesome though. ***Update*** I took my Palisade in yesterday for maintenane services...the guy who was helping me was really nice and helpful...a different guy than I had before. The wait time was actually a little less than two hours...a lot better than any other time I have waited for them to service our vehicles. They still didn't reset the maintenance timer, so it is still warning me that my vehicle needs to be serviced. There is also dirty spots on my interior (door), traces of oil from the mechanics hands. There has seemed to be some improvements, but I shouldn't have to clean my car after getting it serviced, and the maintenance timer should be reset after the vehicles has been serviced.

Save yourself a lot of time and avoid this service center. They are all extremely unprofessional and lack communication skills. I've called 10+ times over the course of 2 days to get an update on my wife's vehicle and haven't received a call back. I got someone on the phone one of those times and they said they couldn't help me and needed to transfer me. Multiple voicemails and text messages later and 0 help or follow up. A simple oil change, tire rotation, and alignment shouldn't take over 48 hours.
