We love these guys, we have 5 vehicles in the company and they take care of us. Just this week we had a vehicle go down and Independent jumped on it to get us rolling again as quickly as possible. Chris and Steve are good people, can't say enough about their service.

These guys are amazing! I had trouble with my tow vehicle while on the first day of our vacation. My Ford Excursion lost power coming through the mountains. After having another shop look at it, and unable to find the cause, I was referred to Independent Specialist of Reno. I spoke to Chris on the phone and he was very helpful and offered to help. I should mention that I called many shops prior to finding Chris and all were booked for services til July! I showed up at Independent Specialist and was met by Chris and Mike. These guys were 1st class professionals. I told them that the other shop was unable to diagnose the issue. Mike hooked up my SUV to his computer and found possible causes. He immediately began problem solving and was honest about what the problem could be with different scenarios. He immediately went to work and soon found the issue. He even gave me suggestions on how to care for my vehicle in the future. These guys are the best! They saved our vacation and had us on way within hours. Had they not helped us, we would be stranded in Reno with no vehicle. I can't tell you how other shos turned us away.This is a family operation and that is how we were treated. I can't say enough great things about these guys. I would definitely recommend using these guys.

They’ve bulletproofed my 6.0 Powerstroke. Head gaskets and studs, EGR & oil coolers, billet aluminum water pump, HPOP, intercooler THE Works!! Truck runs great and I can now trust it and have peace of mind. Steve and his crew did a fine job, were very professional and especially trustworthy. I didnt know who I could trust my truck to so I contacted Bulletproof Diesel in Arizona. They gave me Independent Specialists of Reno’s contact info. They will now be servicing all of our vehicles.

Took my neglected 1997 Toyota 4Runner that I would seldomly drive after traveling in and out of Reno for past 5 years. A lot of work needed to be done with this vehicle; CV boots and axles, valve cover gasket, brake pads, transmission fluid replaced, alignment, etc. These guys were so incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and quick. Price for everything wasn’t overwhelming either. Only place I’ll take my cars in Reno, thank you guys again.

Professional, honest, brilliant mechanics that truly know what they're doing and keep you informed with updates on your vehicle! I've used many different mechanics shops in Reno and Sparks that either lied about the repairs that my vehicle needed, or charged me more than they should have, or kept my vehicle for weeks because they wouldn't admit that they had no idea what they were doing OR all of the above! Then a friend recommended me to a shop in Sparks that very humbly told me that they were short handed and wouldn't be able to get to my vehicle for weeks and then referred me to Independent Specialists. He said they are very knowledgeable about many types of vehicle, old and new, and complete the repairs in a prompt manner. My experience with them has been excellent and my 20yr old vehicle is finally running again!

These guys are amazing. They do great work and offer way better prices than any dealership, with the same quality of service if not better. Locally owned and operated. Steve is an amazing person with a very great level of patience in uncanny. They replaced my right rear hub on my 2004 Subaru Sti and put all OE parts in my car. That is super important to me. Thank you again for the amazing level of service. Thanks for also dealing with my attitude.

A family friend highly recommended independent specialist to us. We were having a check engine, light, and wanted to get it checked out. I called and they told me they could get me in that day to get it looked at. However, they told me a repair is three weeks out. so if you’re looking for a good mechanic and have a long time to wait. I would recommend independent specialist. Unfortunately, we just didn’t have that kind of time.

Independent Specialists of Reno – Absolute HEMI Saviors I brought my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT to Independent Specialists of Reno with 99k miles on it and a very real fear that the motor was done for. The car had a misfire on cylinder 3, oil in the coolant, failed motor mounts, and all the warning signs of the notorious 6.4L HEMI lifter failure that so many SRT owners dread. To the point where I just wanted to sell it. I was honest with them. I run this car as it's meant to be driven. "Spirited", but it has always been meticulously maintained. I asked them one thing: save it if it’s possible. They didn’t hesitate. They told me it could be done, and then they delivered. They pulled the motor, tore it down properly, and did it right. The camshaft was toast, so it was replaced. New lifters, new seals throughout the entire motor, and every component was thoroughly cleaned and inspected before reassembly. This wasn’t a patch job or a shortcut rebuild, this was a full, professional, detail-oriented resurrection. The result? This Jeep has never run this well in the entire time I’ve owned it. It’s smooth as butter, pulls hard, idles perfectly, and feels like a completely refreshed machine. The difference is night and day. What impressed me most wasn’t just the mechanical work and their honest commication; it was the confidence, transparency, and pride in craftsmanship. These guys know HEMIs. They know SRTs. And they stand behind their work. If you own a HEMI, especially one like mine, and want a shop that won’t give up on your vehicle, or worse, push you toward an unnecessary motor replacement. Independent Specialists of Reno is the place to go. A totally fair price and 100% Mopar oem parts. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Reach out to Steve and he will take care of you. True professionals. True experts. Absolute lifesavers. And... I Decided not to sell it. 😉

Took my 2010 Honda Accord V6 here to fix an oil leak, as I saw on Reddit that this was the place to go. The shop owner is one of the most professional people I've ever met, full stop. Steve was level-headed, respectful, and a great listener. After a day at the shop, Steve informed me that my coolant needed to be replaced, and my timing belt was long overdue for service. Once I gave the go-ahead, the team went right to work for a couple of days, keeping me informed of when they needed more time. In the end, the repair was thorough (including an engine steam clean), the leak was completely fixed, belt replaced and coolant flushed, all for a very fair price. This spot will definitely be my go-to repair place for all my Japanese cars.
