I’ve been dealing with issues on my Honda for months now. We originally took it to Honda, and they claimed it was just the spark plugs—so we replaced them. Unfortunately, the issue came back not long after. We then brought the car here based on the good reviews, hoping for a real solution. The mechanic said he inspected the car and couldn’t find anything wrong except that I needed an oil change and “Honda-specific” spark plugs. He also cleared the dashboard settings, which we found extremely frustrating because that doesn't solve the issue—it just masks it temporarily. At that point, it was already done, and we couldn’t reverse it. We went ahead and bought the spark plugs directly from Honda and had them replaced, even though the original ones weren’t aftermarket or low quality. Surprise—same issue came back again. Whether it’s “higher-end” spark plugs or not, my car continues to have the exact same problems. Honestly, I don't understand why that recommendation was made in the first place. We even spoke to friends who work at dealerships and Honda, and they confirmed that advice was completely inaccurate. The car might be running *slightly* better, but it's like comparing Pepsi to Coke—it’s still the same drink. At the end of the day, nothing was truly resolved. At this point, it feels like this is just one of those issues no mechanic seems able to figure out. Disappointing experience all around. Update: 09/16/25 Not surprised by your response. Deflection? However, I did visit your shop on July 10, 2025 early in the morning. I’m happy to provide proof of this visit, including a credit or debit card receipt. At the top of the picture dates are included of the signs you have in your shop, is the date. This is indeed the correct business. I encourage you to double-check your records. I will not be removing my review, as it accurately reflects my experience. This is the closest “japanese automotive” location to my house. Check out the one star yelp review 5 months ago! It describes almost the exact same issue I experienced. It's really unfortunate. I see no reason to reach out directly, as I prefer not to do business with people who are dishonest and then try to claim I left my review by mistake and ask me to remove it. I clearly remember the employee involved, including his name, and I recognize him in your posted photos/Yelp. I'm simply sharing my experience so others know what to expect before bringing their car in.

On one of the hottest days this summer in Phoenix, the A/C of my car broke down was was blowing hot air while driving. I found Don at Japanese Automotive 10 minutes away and even though his shop was about to close soon for the day, Don took my car in. I thought I just needed freon but he insisted to allow him and his team examine my car despite a pile of cars in his shop. Most shop these days may have turned me away especially close to closing time. Bless him and his teams heart for finding the root cause, my A/C was one 1 fan down. He offered to keep my car overnight to examine it further and also check the issue with a pending oil leak that I had. Not only did he fix the 2nd issue, he proactively checked my suspension which I already knew needed an alignment and let me know it was important for him that my car was safe to be on on the road. He kept me informed every step of the way for approvals, and honestly, this random stop at a random auto shop was a blessing. Nothing he mentioned was what I didn't already know that needed to be fixed. Don saved me the hassle of multiple repairs from my normal mechanic who has been booked 2 weeks out. As a female driver who knows my own car very well, I can say when I got in my car today, the way it drove was completely different after Don repaired it. Halfway home, he made a courtesy call to make sure the ride felt good and reassured me of his shops work. Don is fair, professional, and is a man of character. I'd highly recommend Japanese Automotive to anyone looking for a honest mechanic.

Do yourself a favor and take your cars to Japanese Auto on 27th Ave. You’ll be happy you did. They have good prices, do great work, and provide excellent service. I have been taking all my household cars to Don and Japanese Auto for about 10 years now. I’ve been referring every relative, friend and coworker I know to Japanese Auto because I trust their work and, just as importantly, their word. They are thorough and professional with every repair. There are countless shops out there, but not many that operate with true integrity and honesty like Don. The shop has always been been spot on in their diagnosis and don’t make up unnecessary repairs, just to make a couple extra bucks. It’s clear he understands that the best customers are return customers. Highly recommended!

At first I brought in my 1993 Toyota Starlet, I had previously taken my car to another shop due to a high screech sound it would make when turning it on and the other shop told me they replaced my belts the sound left for a few weeks but then came back so I decided to try out Japanese Automotive based on the high reviews and they had fixed the first shops mistake and readjusted my belts! Now NO NOISE!! The owner was suuuper quick to give ma response and time to come in and my car was done in a few hours! I then decided to bring in my 2018 crv due to not having cold ac. I found out honda has a warranty on 2017-2022 models due to the ac compressor seals leaking but they don’t have a warranty on one of the hoses that’s also has major issues due to their seals anyways Honda dealership wanted to up charge me so much money to replace that hose so I came here again and the hoses were replaced and ac recharge SAME DAY and still lower than the dealership!! will be coming here from now on great service.

Please everyone come see Doan at Japanese Automotive!! I've dealt with really bad auto shops and experiences throughout the valley and Japanese Automotive is the first place where the prices were reasonable and the service is worth it. Doan is amazing, showing me and explaining why I needed a particular repair and explained thoroughly why I needed the replacement. Then the service was fast to the point I was truly shocked! I'm so thankful I found this spot because it has revived my older car to the point where it feels brand new. Japanese Automotive has earned my loyalty for life and this is the only auto shop that I will bring my car. Ladies! If you feel taken advantage of and feel like you're being played with at certain auto shops, come here and you'll see a big difference in service and prices. great mechanics who know what they're doing! one year ago, they replaced my long overdue air filter. last week, they fixed my brakes and were honest enough to tell me that it was only the front brakes. I know nothing about cars and they could have easily said it was the back brakes too... but they didn't. if you want repair done right for a reasonable price, take your car to these people!!!!
