I called Jim with a problem I was having with my V-Strom starting intermittently. Now, I've never stepped foot into his shop, and never met or talked to him. But he kindly described to me the most likely cause of the problem I was having, including a description on how to determine if that truly was the cause. He turned out to be absolutely correct about the cause, and because of this I was able to easily fix the problem (it was a loose connection at my clutch switch). So what I learned from this experience is that he knows his stuff, and he's an honest man. He could have had me bring the bike in and take some money, but he did not. I will be taking my bike to him on the future.

I've been to Jim for a variety of work on my bike- tires, chain, starter motor, diagnostics, or just advice. He is straight with you and fair with his pricing. When I was just starting out and didn't know much of anything about motorcycle maintenance, I came to Jim with something that had a very simple fix. He hardly charged me a thing. I've had mechanics that will try to inflate the amount of labor, or tell you that you need to replace things that don't need replacing. I know that I can trust Jim to tell me how it is.

Had a great experience with Jim all around. My bike was breaking down and backfiring like mad all the way up from Santa Maria, and he put a lot of time and consideration into my bike - as well as my time constraints! While he wasn't able to fix my bike, I was impressed with his consideration and attentiveness, and his reasonable pricing. Ended up having a friend tow me home to Santa Barbara, but Jim even called on the way and suggested a couple more my hometown mechanic could try. Would recommend to anyone!

Well I heard pretty good reviews of this place but they don't really match with my experience. Could've saved both of our time if it had stated he only worked on Japanese. Which is weird cause he has clearly worked on Harley's and other non Japanese companies. And was not to friendly or welcoming over the phone. I asked if he could point me in the right direction to a shop but said no and just hung up abruptly. I can say he probably does have good service if you have the right bike, but you won't know till you call and waist each others time
