Just moved in the neighborhood and worried about finding a good auto repair shop. These guys are exceptional! Called this am because my Jeep Cherokee was leaking oil. They had me bring it in right away. Diagnosed the problem before I left and had me fixed and back on the road before 3pm! Awesome experience, very reasonable price, and just great, friendly people! If you need some auto work, take it to John’s!

I visited the other day when my check engine light came on. Bonus that I was greeted by a sweet lab in lobby named captain. Hunter plugged my car in and determined it was likely that I needed a new gas cap because mine wasn’t clicking anymore. $12 later and no more check engine light. Very honest and pleasant! I’m used to driving to Prattville for auto work, but will come here next time. Highly recommend!

I have used them a few times on two of my vehicles. My first experience with them was when a shield underneath the engine of my Prius was coming loose. They affixed it properly, and charged me nothing for the job. I later took them my minivan for air conditioning repairs, and they did good work fast, and charged a very fair price. Today, I had to take them my Prius again, because of a check engine light I couldn't get rid of after doing research on the cause and possible fix. They cleared it, and assured me the problem was simply that it takes some time for the light to go out after doing the fix. They charged me nothing for their service. Perhaps the best part about the place is that they are always friendly and easy to deal with. The one time I took them a more complex problem, the mechanic was very up-front about the fact he wasn't confident in his ability to deal with something that might involve the hybrid system. (He joked that he was scared of it.) I appreciated his honesty about this- and he referred me to another shop that did a beautiful job with it. I would give them six stars if I could. Great folks!

This is a family business and I can tell you that they have treated me like family. Their prices are really good and they are honest. We have 4 cars, and there have been several times when the actual bill came in lower than the original estimate! Side note, if you are looking to buy a car, check with John, he has a car lot in Gadsden -- integrity & quality is what I have seen from these guys for over a decade.

Car started clunking on the interstate. I pulled off and headed to John's because they were the closest place with good reviews. The reviews are true. I pulled in a half hour before they closed but they treated me like their first customer. Between the number of cars on the lot and the backup on parts, I expected it would be two weeks before repairs were done. They had it finished by the next morning for a fair price. Incredible!

Dropped my son's car off Sunday evening when it had multiple warning lights and owners manual said don't drive over 30 mph. Monday on lunch hour stopped off hoping to get an update. I got stuck in a bind with a faulty heater hose driving from Arkansas to Georgia. There was nobody in Birmingham who could find the time or was willing to help me, except for John's Auto Repair & Tire. Hunter and John took time out of their busy day to fix my truck and get me safely back on the road. For that I will be forever grateful. If you have problems with your vehicle bring it here. My Murano started making a loud rattling noise and a few hours later the AC went out. Dropped it off at John’s and they diagnosed the problem the same day (AC compressor went out) and finished repairing by the next day. Good price and fast work!! Exceptional service, honest and straightforward mechanic. We had an AC condenser fan motor bearing fail and called 5 different mechanics in the area charging what seemed like an excessive amount for this job - luckily found John’s and the team give a quick quote, which was totally reasonable, and have the part replaced within two days.

I went in today and asked for the owner. The guy in the office said he was the owner. I told him that I came in three separate times to get my brakes checked and was told my brakes were good and that all I needed was to get the rotors resurfaced, and cleaned, and was charged for that, he had checked it once himself. I went out of town for two weeks and my husband used my car to run an errand. He said he almost crashed because the brakes weren’t working properly. So I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t believe that I took it to an actual mechanic because they said that first off there was a clip sticking out of the rotor and that my brakes were only 3 mm thick and they kept asking me was I sure that I took it to a mechanic so when I told the owner that he got really mad and said he didn’t have a magic ball to tell me the future if my brakes were going to get bad and that’s exactly why I brought it to a mechanic and not a Magician.

My coworker recommended me this place. Even if it is a bit of a drive for me I will always take my car needs here first! I have had work done in the past in downtown Birmingham and had always felt like I was getting scammed in some sort of way. Always just insane up charges.
