I am new to the Encinitas area and ended up scheduling an oil change at K & B because the first places I called wanted to charge a ridiculous amount for an oil change ($62!). I was happy with the service I received at K & B. They were quick to help me out and charged a reasonable price. The mechanic didn't try to push me to pay for a bunch of other services my car didn't need but only recommended stuff it really does need like a tire rotation. The only bad thing is the location is tucked away and it looks kind of junky. I didn't notice any other female customers. You have to sit outside to wait. I also had to wait for more than an hour, but I didn't mind since I wasn't getting cheated on the price. I plan to continue using K & B for future oil changes/services.

It's incredibly difficult to find a mechanic who is as knowledgeable and honest as Moises is. He knows his stuff in and out, and doesn't even think about taking advantage of you. I went in with a check engine light, which was due to a vacuum leak code. In the parking lot he pops the hood and walks around the car for 2 minutes, and then says "you need a gas cap" and goes back in his garage. Problem solved. I bet a buck, if I had rolled up to just about any other shop, I'd have gotten an Uber ride back home, and dropped 600 dollars on "hose repairs" and "gasket replacements" and get the car back just the way it was, but with a new gas cap on it. (my brother got fleeced 4 grand over the course of 3 months on two cars he brought to a different shop that was recommending replacing stuff that was perfectly fine, on multiple cars, and he finally started to question it because the repair bills were getting outrageous. They didnt even change his oil, it was like molasses, but supposedly took apart his engine to fix "a sound" among other "repairs"). When I went in, after attempting to find it for hours on my own, I was already mentally prepared for that expensive and time consuming outcome, and even as a fairly experienced diy mechanic, i couldnt get to the bottom of it and wouldnt have thought twice about spending that money to fix the issue, of course, believing whatever the mechanic says. That is just one of a handful of similar experiences I've had with Moises. In taking the honest route and passing up what most would have seen as a free check, instead he has a customer for as long as he wants to work, and I send everyone who needs auto work his way. Tldr: Moises is super trustworthy, knows his stuff, and doesn't waste time getting your car back to you. And he does it for the best price in town. 👍
