Kevin’s North Area Transmission did an exceptionally thorough overhaul on my 18 year old car. When I got my car back, I was very pleased with the way it looked and how smoothly it drove. This is certainly not the same car that was towed to Kevin’s Transmission. They replaced parts as needed and made sure the car was in “tip top” shape before it was ready for me. I also received a detailed invoice of all work performed. I highly recommend Kevin's Transmission for any of your car needs.

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!!! I took my car to have a newer engine installed. Was quoted 3 days....and it took 3 and a half weeks. I kept getting the run around on what was going on with it. Originally was supposed to be 1480, but then had to pay 815 more for them to adjust the timing. I would be told I would get a call back in 30 mins...or 2 hours....and never would. Then I got told I needed to be patient and stop calling or I could just come pick it up and they would note the account. Very rude. So almost a month later....finally got my car....and it drives barely 8 hours before it breaks down. Not to mention the engine light was still on when I left the shop so I know they didn't replace any of the stuff needed to make the engine run better. Turns out they never plugged up the knock sensor which slowly messed the timing up again. So now I'm about to have to put my car in a shop, AGAIN, because they failed to put my engine 100% back together. Not to mention my power steering line was leaking because it was loose, and after barely 8 hours of driving, my oil was 3 quarts low. They put a new thermostat on the car as well.....which didn't even tell me the car was overheating before it died. I definitely wouldn't recommend this location to anyone!

Everyone at Kevin’s North Area Transmission Shop is super friendly and accommodating. Their automotive work is impeccable as well as the knowledge of the personnel. My transmission in my Nissan Altima SER went out a few years ago and I couldn’t find anyone to work on it because I was told by several people it was pain to get to the transmission. We recently moved to this area, called Kevin’s and spoke with Ms Gloria. They took my car in immediately and it was ready in less than a week. Ms Gloria kept me up to date as my car was being fixed and explained everything to me every step of the way. We had a wonderful experience with them and will indeed continue to go there for our automotive needs.

I had my car there for 2 whole business days. It got there Saturday afternoon and it is still there today on Wednesday at 3pm. I had to call the shop to ask if my car made it there okay from the tow on Monday and I had to call the shop today to ask for an update. Horrible communication. Its okay if its not “done” yet and its okay if you dont even know whats wrong with it, but at the very least the office should call everyone at the end of the day and update them on what is going on. It would take 30 minutes max.

The transmission went out in our Chevy Tahoe. We called Kevin’s auto based on the reviews and got transferred to Ms. Gloria❤️ She was so helpful, caring and most importantly knowledgeable about what was wrong with our vehicle. They towed it & communicated immediately. She called back with daily updates and explained everything in details. I felt like her family member because she was so understanding. I’m 19 years into customer service at a hospital so I understand the importance of customer satisfaction. Kevin’s auto is awesome!!

I went to get a inspection on a slipping on my vehicle. Everything was great at first even wanted to do other business with them as well. Long story short I drove my car there, an was told that I need a complete replacement transmission for the reason being my torque converter was bad 👎. Pricing this at $7000 . Now they explained everything with a familiar code that was in the vehicle memory that I fix my self an erase it. And use it with a completely different perspective. So they will lie to you in your face with a smile an take your money. Not alone the inspection was suppose to be $85 they charged a $100 an that's high compared with $60 but approach with caution

I brought my escalade to them with a noise in the differential, they replaced it, serviced the transmission, and took care of me 100%. The new rear end developed a problem a couple days later, they repaired it ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY under warranty and not only that, they detailed my car BOTH times they had it. Gloria is amazing and they shop guys are fantastic. They did a great job, their quoted price was exactly what they said, and they went above and beyond to help me out and repair my vehicle. I will bring all of our company vehicles there from now on. You simply cannot be Gloria, Kevin, and the staff there.

I recently needed a transmission repair/rebuild on my car so I called Kevin's. They promptly came and towed it in. They called to keep me informed what they confirmed was problematic and to let me know when it was ready. Very nice people and very fair prices for their excellent work. Kevin's even took care of a few other issues not related to the transmission, a leaking rear main oil seal on the engine (easy to get to while the transmission was removed), they replaced the original starter with one I purchased but couldn't install, and replaced a bad oxygen sensor. On top of a great repair job they washed my car, cleaned the wheels, and armor all protected the tires. Kevin's offers expert repair service by friendly people at a reasonable price I highly recommend them.

Right from the start we had excellent communication. Every step from initial quote, tow coordination, ordering parts, timeline, pics of the failed parts, options for other parts that could be replaced while they had it apart. They gave me recommendations and suggestions but it never felt forced or pushy. The pricing was right in line with what I'd researched and the final bill was itemized for transparency. I appreciate the work they did and I will use their services again.

I got my car towed to the auto repair shop and was told I needed a fuel pump and battery. I went to pick up my car and paid $1,200. The next day my car wouldn’t crank, got a jump and took it back to the shop. Was told that I needed an alternator and belt. I paid $700 for that! Got my car back hours later. The next day my car wouldn’t crank AGAIN. Got another jump and when I got there I was told I needed ANOTHER NEW BATTERY. THE DAY AFTER THAT MY CAR WOULDN'T CRANK AGAIN! So I noticed my seat warmer on the passenger side was on. It stayed on even when my car was off. My seat warmer was never broken before my car got to that shop. So, basically I paid for a new alternator and belt for NOTHING! The seat warmer was the reason my car was not cranking and I needed a jump. I do not recommend these people. They will lie to your face!

Amazing Service I was very reluctant to put my car in the shop because I don’t have a trusted mechanic in South Carolina. I knew going into the shop I would have to pay for brakes but my transmission should have been a simple deductible for insurance I pay for. Ms. Gloria was a huge help and while calling in the claim for my transmission, she found out I am still covered under the powertrain warranty. She made the call to the dealership and told them what was going on and when I picked up my car she told me what dealership to go to and who I need to talk to so we could get my car repaired. I am thankful I got a good price on parts and labor and even more happy that I now have a trusted mechanic/shop I can go to if I ever need them in the future! I will definitely recommend anyone who needs their vehicles serviced to come here!

They put a used transmission in my sons tahoe and did not plug in the range sensor all the way because the pins were bent and blue safety locks on connectors could not be installed. Transmission lasted 100 miles enroute to his grandmothers funeral. Told them and of course he blamed it on used tramsmission! Typical shoddy workmanship! Never again!

When I tell you, they don’t have to worry about me anymore. I came to them trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because I have used their services to get a diagnostic before, but the way that lady was rudely talking to me on the phone and how harsh they were talking to me and telling me things like “get me a key here by the morning “ I will not accept that at all that is not professional and that is not what I stand for if you’re going to talk to me like that, then I rather spend my money elsewhere. Overall, I will never ever be visiting the store or any other of their establishments ever again I was dissatisfied. I simply came for a transmission diagnostic. I know that I had a bad battery and broken key fob and I was willing to replace my bad battery and show them how to start the vehicle just like how I did that exact same day I picked up my car and drove my car from their establishment to another establishment to get the work done and they were happy to take my money. Again I will not be talked to any type of way especially when I have no questions about the money I am spending to get the work done to my vehicle. As I said before I will not be returning here for any service whatsoever!!!!! I’m hats a shame how she tried to play nice when I got to there but my mind was already made up and I have my car at another shop and I already have a projected date for when my vehicle is going to be ready.

Kevin's really saved my neck and I'll tell you just why I recommend them: First they are actually friendly, truly honest and fair. They helped me by plugging (not insisting on patching) my tire when others (I won't mention Gerald) said the tire could not be repaired and I HAD to purchase a new one! Second, I was running late for work and needed it quick and fires what: they actually cared and did it quick! This is so rare! I highly recommend them and you will too!!!

I had an unexpected transmission problem half way into my trip from Orlando to N Charleston, SC. for a wedding. Miraculously I was able to safely get me and my car here where Gloria was honest and transparent about the diagnosis. I could not be happier with the service. From the first call and on, everyone I've talked to has been wonderful. They kept me updated on progress and answering all of my questions. Had my car ready in a few days when other places would have taken weeks. Great customer service all around Update 2nd review. Had to take my car there again and my original review remains the same. I will never use another shop again. They are quick, very communicative and just all around pleasant to deal with. I don't feel like they are trying to get one over on me or talk me into repairs that I don't need. I live paycheck to paycheck so when my car breaks down it's a huge, stressful deal. I need people I can trust.

I can’t believe after all these years of dealing with them this business has completely left a bitter taste in my mouth. After 11 calls 6 visits to get an update on my transmission repair I still got nothing. They took my transmission apart and never put it back or give me an estimate on the cost. I’ve reached out to Shelton as a friend in business but after this I’m done! After complaining to so many others about my experience I never thought so may shared the same experience!! Until I take this down. Be aware of this business!! I’m highly disappointed!!
