I went to Ky’s Auto Repair and Sales for safety check. In addition to vehicle registration, I still need to show proof of insurance with app. However, I had difficulty to find it right away. I was there quite desperate, then, the owner decided to proceed to complete safety check and offered me lots of support. I’m grateful to their caring and professional derive. Friendly, good service and reasonably priced. Service could be more prompt. Took vehicle in for scheduled 8:00 inspection appointment, stood in door way for ten minutes while hearing people in the shop talking. Finally went in, with mask, and owner got upset. I explained I had an 8 a.m. appointment, he did not know about it. I explained that I could just leave it and he could call when done, no problem. At 4:00 p.m. I called and he said it would be ready by 4:30 but dont be late, due to closing at 5:00. I ignored this thinking they had had a bad day. Ive been going there three years with no problems. Update today...4 months later... I scheduled another inspection for our second vehicle, waited 5 days to get in, arrived ten minutes late due to traffic and once again it upset the owner. I will no longer go to, or recommend, this establishment.Apparently service and attitude have changed. Mahalo to owner and staff for previous years with Aloha. Floyd and Cathy

I've had my safety check done here on and off since high school. I met the owner through a friends mom and she's known him forever. Problem is...they're incredibly rude on the phone. Short of beginning the sentence with "Hi, remember me? Aunty so and so told me to call you", don't expect good service. I live in Hawaii Kai but am currently driving to town because the attitude level was sky high this morning lol. If you are having a great day and you need to speak to someone to bring your mood down, brace yourself, and give them a call. They are always super rude unless, like I said, you show up with Aunty.

I've only ever gone here for safety inspections, mainly because it's within walking distance, but the place is ALWAYS busy, and pretty much everyone says good things about it. I must say, making an appointment for an inspection during the pandemic was a nice change because there was no wait and it was done quickly. If I ever need another service and it's done well, I'll up this rating to 5 stars.

My first time here, got my spark plugs changed out and safety check. It’s refreshing to find a mechanic who is professional and reasonable with his rates. The shop is not the most convenient location for me, however it’s a no brainer for me to come to place where I know I’m not getting hustled. The owner, Keoki is very upfront and honest. Highly recommend!

If I could give 0 stars I WOULD! TERRIBLE! When calling to schedule an appointment very rude on the phone & also in PERSON. As a service provider you would think the customer service would somewhat be decent to paying customers. I went to an appointment about 25 minutes early bc I had my kids with me (if you’re a parent you know to leave early with kids). I went to “check in” for my 11:30 appointment and he motioned to the clock and said “well it’s 5 past 11’oclock..have a seat outside” *with attitude* in which I replied “yes I know I’m just checking in”. They stated my vehicle was flagged according to the iPad also they did not show me that it was “flagged”. When explaining the next steps attitude was on 100%. Long story short I called motor vehicle and it wasn’t flagged. Office is dirty & messy. There was also cases of alcohol just sitting next to the front desk. Unprofessional overall. Go elsewhere trust me.

Took me in last minute for an easy safety check. Very grateful!! FYI, it takes DMV 24 hours to register updated safety check, so I'm glad I went straight to DMV to pay for registration instead of Safeway kiosk, otherwise I would have had to pay $15 late fee. Thank you KT auto for speedy safety check!!! Mahalo!!

KT's usual gruff nature has just turned completely rude and disrespectful. After a bad experience on car repair, I used to only go there for inspections. No more though. This time he did the inspection, I paid, but he couldn't be bothered to just give me the sticker because he had to go. Of course I waited a bit to see if he ran out the door, but he just sat at his desk. Will NOT RETURN EVER!

Was experiencing decreased handling and excessive noise coming from the rear of my truck. I went into the office to set up an appointment, however I was told to come back on a different day when they knew they wouldn't be busy. I waited for almost a week to drop it off and explained the issues that I was having. When I returned to pick up the truck I was told that the repairs would be $2000-3000 to replace F/R brakes and suspension. The mechanic told me that he had only taken apart the front of the car and saw no brake pads left and broken struts. He "assumed" based on this that the rear would need the same repair. He told me that they didn't have time to take look at the back, however he was watching TV in the office. He said that an appointment would need to be made for another day in the future to actually have the repairs done even though I had originally asked for an appointment. Leaving the shop my car drove worse than when I first brought it in. Took it to Kapahulu Auto Repair for a second opinion who did a thorough eval of the front and back of my car. They said nothing was wrong with the suspension and that both brakes had more than half of their lifespan left. He recommended a $100 alignment check rather than a $3000 overhaul of my car. The car drove noticeably better after leaving the second mechanic. Aside from nearly being swindled out of $3000 to replace functioning parts of my truck, I am most upset that all of the time spent on my car was looking at the wrong half of it.

Don’t do it. Someone else said it, gruff.. after I got an oil change, car leaked oil, they stripped the oil pan. I don’t even want to go back to complain. They did my safety check too.

Did a good repair, is kinda a abbrasive honest dude. Did miss 1 major thing but called and apologized later. I will go back when I feel i can't fix it myself.

I had a great experience with KT. My mom’s car was flashing a warning intermittently but when the brake lights wouldn’t go off, I was stuck to face a dead battery in the morning. I drive up hoping someone could help, and they did! No more than 5 minutes of a wait, they fixed my electrical issue. Thank you for seeing me right away and fixing my issue!

Keala nakanelua... I've been taking my entire family's cars two keoki for so many years I can't remember. Absolutely love going to him sitting down talking about golf and just enjoying the general Ambience of the place while my safety inspection or repair is being done. The day he retires is going to be a very sad day for me and my family. Thank you keoki for always taking care of us!!!!
